Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
Shane Mosley says he wants Margarito.
SHANE MOSLEY: "I WANT MARGARITO"
"I go after the best fighters and it doesn't matter who it is. When Mayweather was on top before he retired, I wanted Mayweather. Margarito's the one on top; he's the best welterweight out there right now. I want Margarito. I love the challenge and I've always been that one. I've always been competitive. I've always wanted to be the best so if he's the best fighter out there, then I'm going after him."
Even though it was a press conference for his fight with Mayorga, it seemed like he talked more about Margarito.

Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
That fight would be very Interesting..................

Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
Alright...
Its a huge ask, but I'm backing the Sugar man....let's go fella!!!
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
Join the queue Shane
Good fight though
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
Its a tough fight to call but Mosley has as good a chance of winning as any.
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
Interesting match up, man if pressed to pick i'd have to go with margarito if they fought right now.
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
He had his chance already, I wish him and Delahoya would just leave the sport
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
no doubt tony would be the favorite but against all odds or not im with suga suga shane. If shane beats tony, then floyd comes back then the ultimate welterweight battle for me can come true. shane vs floyd.
p.s. imo shane beats floyd at lightweight. 50/50 at welterweights though.
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
I see him getting this fight cuz outside De La Hoya he is probably the biggest name out there
Dont think he will win though
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
Shane Might Win this as Margo is not going to outbox him like Cotto!! And Styles make fights!

Well that's kind of a ridiculous post if you ask me.. To be honest it makes me laugh a bit when there is this revolt against De La Hoya from diehard fans. As if he is supposed to give two shits what such a small number of people who pay attention to his every announcement might feel, when they are still guarenteed sells. He's never taken a real easy fight in his career, and has really never been in a boring fight. But oh, he must leave the sport? Why, he's still the biggest draw by a landslide and a very capable fighter. Not to mention that Mosley has nothing in common with De La Hoya in terms of being the prima donna type to jerk people around or put himself in the spotlight... Mosley never really had THAT chance. He's always just been a humble extremely hard working elite fighter, who's never been in anything close to a bad fight . How the hell has he missed his "chance" exactly? He has as good a shot as anyone of beating all the WW champions right now. To be honest I really feel while Margarito is the man to beat for the mean time, the other two champions in the division are men who can beat him, and so is Mosley.

Mosley-Margarito? Now that is what i wanted to see! ;D

Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
If there's one person that rivals Margarito's chin it's Sugar Shane. He can't be stopped and is extremely durable. I would actually pick Shane to win this fight.
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
I hope Mosley is looking past Mayorga. I really do.

Exactly and Cotto despite boxing very well kept coming out with some of that hispanic machoness and that to me is what lost him the fight (not taking anything away from Tony) and with Mosley I just see a 12 round boxing UD.

Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
I admire Shane's balls.
They glisten.

;Dglisten LOL!!!
For Mosely wrong match-up IMO, Aisde from he is past his prime he can't powerbox his way against Margarito. Tony will stop him.
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
Shane couldn't keep up a proper attack on Cotto how the fuck is he going to do it vs a guy like Margarito?!?!?!
Shane has guts but he just needs to focus on fighting maybe someone like Paul Williams or Joshua Clottey guys who he could beat up
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
Wrong time for Mosely, he could take a UD if he were 7 years younger. Can't help but remember how he was desperately gasping for gas in the mid rounds against Cotto, difference is Margarito won't rest on a lead and keep coming. I don't doubt Shane's ability to take a punch, I doubt his ability to take hundreds at his age, so IMO Marg finishes him round the 10th.
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
Mosley Vs. Margarito is a fight for the ages!
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
If Oscar doesn't want him then I don't see a reason it shouldn't happen other than for Shane's health but oh well who am I to judge....Shane went the distance vs Cotto but Cotto took rounds off and Tony wont
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
It's funny how Mosley finally calls him out while he's set to fight someone else. He had the chance to fight Margarito and turned it down.
-
Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
i think is a 50-50 fight. mosley is still great

Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
I think Mosley does well early ,Margarito gets him on his heels and does even better late for the win.

Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
To be perfectly honest, this is just nothing but a little marketing ploy from Golden Boy Promotions.
If you remember correctly, back in 2006 when Shane beat Vargas in the rematch, everyone in boxing wanted Mayweather-Mosley, HBO was pushing HARD for it, Mayweather himself even wanted the fight and made Mosley an offer. What did Mosley do? He turned the down fight because he said he wanted to "go on vacation." He not only turned down that fight in November 2006 but he also turned it down for February 2007. Why? Because Oscar De La Hoya didn't want Shane fucking with his plans to fight Mayweather. Directly after the ODLH-Floyd fight, Mosley started calling out Mayweather. By then Floyd was like "you didn't want the fight when everyone else wanted it and now you want it when you just saw me do 2.4 Million PPV and there are no other big money options out there huh? Well now you're ass ain't getting it."
Mosley had a chance to fight Margarito for 8 Million with no other real big paydays like that on the market and he turned it down (at least Floyd got 8 Million for Baldy). Now all of sudden, he's calling Tony out again. Why? Because everyone in boxing is calling ODLH a fraud for trying to fight Pacquiao when there is a legitimate contender in Margo. So Golden Boy Promotions needs someone to divert the boxing public's attention from Oscar not fighting Margo. So now Mosley will call Tony out so that at least the Pacquiao is the only big money fight out there for Oscar.
Mosley is nothing but a pawn for ODLH. An expensive pawn, but a pawn nonetheless. Even though Mosley beat ODLH 2-0, ODLH still owns Mosley. Hahaha.

Re: Shane Mosley: "I want Margarito!"
I don't think Mosley has enough left to beat Margarito. The Mosley of the early 00s I'd pick to win, but not now.
Mosley doesn't have the stamina at this age to keep up with the ridiculous workrate of Margarito. You see him clinching more nowadays (ex. Cotto fight) for a reason. Mosley has some boxing skills but has always been more of a speedy slugger anyway, who excels in the exchanges, rather than on the backfoot or moving laterally.
Mosley would probably have some moments, especially early on, with his speed, but there wouldn't be enough of those moments throughout the fight.
Margarito UD

I agree of the most part, but I never heard anything about a $8 mil offer made to Mosley for Margarito.
Only an $8 mil offer for Mayweather, but he had other options, which did not include Bob Arum.
