It's olympics time, does anyone care
I must say, I don't even care. Simply because it's China and after hearing of the garbage associated with the way those commie assholes are running things, the games are ruined for me already.

Re: It's olympics time, does anyone care
I'm very interested in some of the Olympics. Gymnastics, tennis, weight lifting, wrestling and of course, last but not least, boxing.
I also like watching the girls in their little tighty shorts doing the high jump. Probably going to be some bizarre things though being in China, so I hope it's not ruined. Who's bright idea was it to hold the game there anyways?

Re: It's olympics time, does anyone care
when I get home at night duing the olympics the only fucking thing on is... that gay sport where they sweep in front of the rock while it slides down the ice... Whatever that gay shit is called.
How that became an Olympic sport I don't know...
I don't remember Romans fucking sweeping in front of rocks on ice... They were to busy being awesome.

:lolhaha:
The last Olympics I Really enjoyed was 2004 when Pyyros Dimas won the bronze medal in the 85 kg weightlifting class. He had won several gold medals over the years, but was on his decline and wasn't even expected to place. It was touching to see him get a 10 minute standing ovation while the gold medalist was sitting there with his thumb up his ass;D Great stuff, if you like the lifting comp.
And to be a Greek and a national hero doing that in Athens was awesome.

The Olympics there are a farce. And the air quality is disgusting. It sets a precedent for future Olympics. Humanity is going down the shoot. Fast.
The so called species that "has it all". It wont be long lasting.

We haven't started the Special Olympics thread yet, so hold on chief:)

Re: It's olympics time, does anyone care
Allow me to repeat my post from the other similar thread....
If you mean a repeat of the 1936 Olympics in that Britian will do shit then you are almost certainly right.
Every time it comes around the hopes of our pathetic sporting nation rest on at most 3 stars.
With Holmes, Redgrave, Pinsent, Macey all retired, and Paula injured we will most likely be competing with San Marino, Yemen and Saint Lucia for all the glory of going after that coveted wooden spoon.
Fuck the UK, we suck at sport and it's our own fault. Until the egg and spoon race, darts, snooker and bingo are recognised as events we might as well not bother watching.
For myself I'm supporting the Norweigan babe Kristine Engeset and looking forward to seeing who gets busted for drugs in the 100 meters.
Apart from that I won't be watching.

Re: It's olympics time, does anyone care

You do realize that those were the last (summer) Olympics, right?
Anyway, I care. I always do. I couldnt care less about the air quality, and I find it stupid to compare it to Berlin 1936 (as China is clearly moving in the right direction, whereas Germany in 1936 was going the wrong way fast). If anything, Moscow 1980 would at least be a better comparison.
Also for all those 'commie bastards' they at least kept politics out of the opening ceremony. That's more than what they managed to do in Salt Lake City.
Finally, I agree that curling is the most ridiculous sport in the world. Even if it is the only winter "sport" Denmark has ever won a medal in.

Not only is Great Britain not participating in women's football (!), the games also started two days ago. USA lost 2-0 to Norway btw.
But yeah, cool that you can't wait.

Yes, I didn't mean for it to sound that way, I know it's every 4 years. I just meant the last Olympics I really enjoyed, since 84' anyways.

Re: It's olympics time, does anyone care
I'm into it... The boxing and most of the track and field too. The sprinting has lost something for me though because there's always that doubt in your mind that someone has taken something to enhance their performance. The boxing with the electronic scoring hasn't helped either but the chance to see an amateur win a gold medal who in later years could become an all time great pro fighter is something special... for me anyway.
I intend to be at the 2012 games in London... can't wait.

;D I wonder if any of the female athletes turn out to be men again... there was a few in 2004 who got disqualified when tests proved they were born George and later turned into Georgina
