I really don't know...It seems so in most fights,but I thought if someone gets a beating in a round and still manages to score a knock-down the round could be scored as 9 - 9...Or does the boxer automatically win because of the kd...?!?

Not Auto,but its hard as heck to win a round after that,youd have to torch the guy the rest of the round and it be a flash for the ref's to give it to you
No. It doesn't guarantee a 10-8 round either, although that is usually the case.
I think if a person gets a point deducted or gets knocked down, they have to beat the living shit out of the opponent to get the round to be a 9-9 round. I mean landing like 3 or 4 times as many shots, and hurt the opponent at least one.
I thought they called it the 10 point must system because barring a penalty one fighter must be given 10 points. That was just my understanding of the rules.

That's based on my understanding I may very well be wrong. There was a fight on ESPN2 recently where one guy dominated the whole fight complete shutout, but at the final bell he got knocked down, he was definately winning the round by a mile until that happened, but I gave his opponent the round 10-8 as did the judges.Quote:

This is whats wrong with the 10 point must system.
If a fighter is getting beaten badly for 2 minutes 59 seconds of the round but then lands a flash knockdown he wins the round.
The knockdown could be a graze of a glove to the canvas, or even achieved by the fighter being more off-balance than anything but nevertheless its stilll worth 2 points.
It can be complicated but it shouldn't be so black and white, when considering the points from a KD it should be really worth noting whether they deserved the 2 points. Such variables should include:
Was the fighter really hurt from the KD?
Was it more of an issue of the fighter being off-balance?
Was it just a scrape of the glove that touched the canvas?
I think yes coz even if you've been dominated by the other guy then you scored a KD, that round will be given to you as 10-9 as oppose to the normal KD score of 10-8. Definitely you win rounds with knockdownds.

That reminds me, it was never resolved whether or not judges always mark the round with a 10 (as in the 10 point must system) with the point deduction (when they happen) taken after the fightQuote:

I would score it 10-9 in favour of the fighter who scored the knock down but got the crap kicked out of him.

Knock downs aren't scored in the amatures so you can still win the round if you are scoring better.
i would say in 99.9% of the time yes it does. Not many people like to give a 10-10 round, they all try and look for something to edge the other guy to the 10-9 win. So for someone to give someone a 9-9 round would take something special.Quote:

I'm fairly sure there has been rounds where a person has been floored and gotten an even round... i'm sure some of the fact machinces on here can quote the fighters, but someone would have to batter someone for pretty much an entire round and get dropped right at the end to score it 9-9 or get dropped right at the start and dominate the rest in style. Hardly ever happenes.
most fighters who get put down go into a shell for a little while - or you will often find when a fighter is put down the floeerer gets a small boost and steps it up a gear.
