Who would you like to see as Hoya's foe in his ultimate final last fight?
Who would you like to see as Oscar DelaHoya's opponent in his ultimate final last fight on December 6, 2008?
Who is this boxer and what are his credentials why he deserves to have a huge payday in Hoya's ultimate fight.

Re: Who would you like to see as Hoya's foe in his ultimate final last fight?
nobody stands out really :(
oscar isn't even really in the welterweights. His a junior middleweight at 154. thats his division. I would say margarito but why? im not so sure, theres really no story line to that. pac has a story to it but pac is too small. I rather see pac fight the 135pounders or hatton. Oscar really have nobody left, even mosley don't sound interesting. But I guess I would just throw in tony with him for the heck of it. wait I can't make up my mind...:-\
We got to think about the headline cause thats what oscar is about. theres really nobody that can be a huge fight for oscar that makes sense with a storyline.
if oscar uses the "if it makes cents, it makes sense" then pac would likely be the guy. I don't think it will happen and Im not very interested.

Re: Who would you like to see as Hoya's foe in his ultimate final last fight?
My choice is Manny Pacquiao.
- Hoya vs. PAC will be the biggest money fight out there for both boxers.
- PAC will always give his very best in his every single fight.
- PAC almost always gives an exciting and entertaining fight everytime.
- PAC wants bigger challenges and already jumped 6 weight divisions in pursuit of these big fights.
- PAC have done so much for boxing that he deserves huge payday fights at this juncture of his boxing career.
- PAC is the current no. 1 P4P best boxer in the world.
-
Re: Who would you like to see as Hoya's foe in his ultimate final last fight?
I guess Trinidad is out becuase he couldn't make the weight.
A third fight with Mosely would be fun but probably won;t happen.
The guy I'd most like to see him face is Winky, simply becuase that's the only fight involving those two we never get to see.
They should have fought in their careers so a final goodbye for both fighters could be possible.
Not maybe the mega money fight Oscar wants but possibly the most significant in terms of actual boxing.
That's what I'd like to see, Oscar vs Winky.

Sorry didn't noticed that previous thread/poll... I see Margarito leading in that poll with Pacquiao in second place and Pavlik in third...

HBO website visitors overwhelmingly picked Pacquiao to face Hoya...

HBO's list is quite limited. I guess those on the list are the only ones who got HBO's blessings, others are unacceptable to HBO. Remember HBO has some say on who will ultimately face DelaHoya.
BTW, Cotto on the list... ;)

My bad on the Cotto, but you get the point, HBO has no real say in this, they have already given him a PPV and they know if he's on the bill they don't have to worry about money.

Can you state some credentials? Why Cotto or Margarito deserves the DelaHoya fight so that we can weigh on the merits of each fighter we nominate.

Because Cotto can win vs Oscar and Margo could get outbox but he is the #1 WW now so that is deserving enough.
that is my opinion ;)

DelaHoya on the bill is sure money but HBO also wants more money considering that this will be DelaHoya's last fight... ;)

The fact that it's his last fight will break PPV records with or without Manny.
The big question is, why do you want to see this fight so bad that you will bring up so many threads and repeat the same points over and over?
There are surely more important fights for Pacquiao than Old man de la Hoya wouldn't you rather see him fight someone that's in their prime or would you rather see your hero jump in the cash pond in an ultimately meaningless fight?

I already stated the reasons why I want PAC to nail this last drawing of DelaHoya sweepstakes. It's in the 3rd post of this thread (page 1)...

So from Manny's standpoint it's all just money and don't give me any of that legacy crap, because he will just be following in PBF's footsteps if he does.

I think it's more on legacy. Of course it's also about the money coz fighting DelaHoya will always mean HUGE payday.
And IF (big if) PAC can defeat DelaHoya, his legacy will soar to all time high. Maybe higher than any boxer in this decade...

This is highly debatable... Paul Williams will vehemently protest about that proclamation...

Re: Who would you like to see as Hoya's foe in his ultimate final last fight?
De La Hoya should have just retired after losing to Mayweather. A fight with Manny is pointless as he's too small. There's no one out there that I want to see him fight now.

Anyway to answer your question since your just gonna artificially inflate Oscar, and make ridiculous statements about legacy. Winky Wright would be the best fight for ODLH as they are both from the same era and it won't get in the way of more important fights. Also ODLH won't have to struggle to get down to 147, the fight could be at 154 or even 160. This is a fight that should have happened years ago. They both have history with similar records against many of the same fighters. Winky has gone very unappreciated in his career and IMO has earned this payday to end his career in as well.

No problem for me if Ocar decides to fight williams but he is no famous enough to be consider by Oscar. You know how he I$.

Steve Kim, boxing writer at M a x boxing wrote "Pacquiao can and will make it a competitive fight"

Re: Who would you like to see as Hoya's foe in his ultimate final last fight?
This might be out of left field but i say let Jose Luis Castillo get the money. I feel sorry for the guy if the talk of him being broke is true. It'd be a popular ifght with Mexican fans and it'd mean JLC would have money.
Not gonna happen i know, so dont abuse me for this.

At this moment I regard Williams as the No1 WW not Marg.
I think Oscar would be too good a boxer for Tony though and strangely enough Pacquiao COULD cause De La Hoya as much if not more trouble than Tony as he has a lot more speed, skill and boxing know how. I think Oscar would beat either though.

Re: Who would you like to see as Hoya's foe in his ultimate final last fight?
I would go with Cotto , It'll make big bucks and will be a good comeback fight for Cotto if he's ready in spetember don't think Oscar will take it though surely he'll want to go out with a win and he doesn't have a great chance of doing that against Cotto.
