No matter what anyone says...that was a great fight. I knew Taylor had that won after the 3rd round. Great fight.
All respect to my boy & my younger boy.
Fantastic.

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good f
Hopkins was my hero until he made fun of my Home State. Now I hate him.
But he fought good the last half of the fight.Thank god for Taylor that Hopkins
was'nt busier earlier.Taylor needs to work more on diffrent combinations.
Because the jab and straight right started looking like a broken record.
Hopkins just ducked to the left everytime Taylor threw his right. If he
picked up on it earlier he coulda threw that left hook that would have
made a difference.CONGRATS TAYLOR REPRESENT MY STATE!!!!

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
Yes I'm a Taylor fan, but I have to say that Hopkins could have won if he would have fought in the first few rounds instead of trying to show off. Â I don't think the rematch will be anything like that. They both have the feel of each other and it should be a hell of a fight. I can't wait.!
-
Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
From the sounds of it, it was bernards work rate that let him down. Apparently he came to life in the last 4 rounds. Maybe 1 round sooner and he would still be champ.
-
Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
I believe thats exactly what it was and he even told his corner late that he was going to knock Taylor out. It didn't happen, one I believe is that Hopkins does not have a knock out punch and two he thought he won rounds by dancing around and taking hits. Taylor was tired at the end and frustrated because the jabs were easily dodged by Hopkins. But Hopkins only great hit was a head butt to the top of Taylors head that caused bleeding throughout the later rounds. It's gonna be a great rematch.

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
class post wacko ;)
as a fan of neather fighter i found it boring...
but then hey i hate cagey fights :)
-
Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
For me Taylor didn't let Hopkins work in the early rounds, he fought a good tactical fight at that stage and B-Hop only caught up with him when he slowed in the latter stages and stopped using the jab. Â I wanted and picked Hopkins to win but in reality I cannot make a case for that, taylor was too good at the start of the fight. Â

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
Do you all really believe what you are saying??? It hurts to know that any true boxing fan thought Taylor deserved to take the title. Even Taylor knew he lost. Pathetic. I will never lie to myself or others and aknowledge Taylor won. Just a complete Robbery.
-
Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
I'm so happy that Hopkins was exposed tonight. Wacko is trying to sound gracious but thats only because he's trying to avoid eating crow. If the ref would have taken  a point or two from Hopkins like he should have nobody would be calling for a rematch. They're not in the same league . IMO Taylor or anyone else 4 that matter would start wearing down from dirty tactics like that. That is what Hopkins has based his career on but this time at least two judges were watching the fight. Then he talks about how he was unmarked and Taylor was bloody and lumped.lol. I don't recall Taylor grabbing him with both gloves by the back of the head and punching him with his back turned while holding. Anyway it was a good night for real boxing fans , but a bad night for bandwagon hoppers that bought into the Hopkins Hype. Â

So does it replace any of your top 5???

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
C'mon Hulk, that's crap.
Hopkins spent far too many rounds posing and trying to get in Taylors head with street tactics. Sure he looked great in the last 4, but he let too many slip away. And even though he won his rounds bigger than Taylor won his, they were still only 10-9 rounds.
I had Taylor up by 1 round. Close fight, but I don't see how you could call it a robbery. The judge who had Hopkins up by 116-112 needs his head read.......

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good f
I am NOT a hopkins fan.....by any means
and i think hopkins really did himself in by not winning earlier rounds......it was apparent in the beginning of the fight that taylor was the faster of the 2 fighters.....
but this fight would have been better off as a draw....that way hopkins would have retained his title and would have been forced to fight in the rematch........i think at least one of those last 4 rounds was worthy of a 10-8 as hopkins pretty much dominated taylor later on...
116-112 for hopkins was rediculous...
but so was taylor winning the 12th round on a judges scorecard........

no one scored it 116-112 for hopkins.

You shouldn't be able to win the title like that.....end of story.
-
Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
Yeah, the first scorecard read out was 116-112 Hopkins Magnum.

Yes, Jerry Roth did. And so did I. It was even thru 8 rounds at 4 a piece. Then Hopkins dominated. The 11th could almost be a 10-8 rounds it was so bad. Rest assured it would have been if Taylor had been the one dominating. GOd I love crooked Judges!!!! ::) >:(

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
I DON'T UNDERSTAND ALL OF YOU PEOPLE, TAYLOR WON, NO ROBBERY, NO BULLSHAT, SO QUIT MAKING EXCUSES FOR HOPKINS, HE LOST!
-
Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
Yeah Hulk, where you are wrong is scoring it even through the first 8.
Most of those rounds Hopkins did NOTHING OF NOTE AT ALL.

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
Taylor won fair and square. Â He won the majority of rounds. Â That's how boxing is scored. Â Personally, I expected a better effort from both of them. Â Hopkins gave Taylor way too much respect in the beginning.... Taylor failed to press his advantage in the end. Â Hopefully, a rematch would be of better quality.

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
No Magnum that is incorrect.
One judge scored it 116-112 for Hopkins, the other 2 had it 115-113 for Taylor.

alright then. i was wrong. but the real problem here is to have it 115-113 for taylor that means you would have had to given him 7 of the first 8. i dont know about you but i didnt see a one-sided fight throught 8. (one judge had it 6-2 bc they gave taylor the 12th which is even bigger problem)

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
To respond to Tito Fan- What the Fook did Taylor do in those rounds. At times he won in rounds 1,2, 6 and 7 simply because B-hop was nearly in active and trying to bait Taylor into a right hand. But he won most of those rounds because of what Bernard didn't do and not for what he did. Also to give that guy the last round, you would have to be either Incompentent or Corrupt. You do not take an all time great Champ's Title by winning 5 rounds at best and then getting your ass beaten clearly and badly in the last 4 unamiously!!!! Fook that decision and Fook anyone who agrees with it. I may just leave the forum if more people do not speak up for Hopkins. Only a jealous Bernard H@tin Die hard Taylor fan could even fathom agreeing with such a disgraceful decision.

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
I have yet to see the fight, but when I do, I'll be sure to weigh in my decision.

Thats so untrue man.I really dont see what the confusion is about.
Hopkins CLEARLY got outworked through the first 8 rounds.Sure
I could see the first round going to hopkins.But...He didnt start to
out score Taylor until the last four rounds.

Magnum you got this guy and he knows it, so he will not respond. But you misewell give up trying to convince novice, bias, taylor fans that their boy lost. They know he did. Any way, this guy knows nothing about boxing, he gave the 1st to Hopkins! Taylor did win the first, I ' ll give him that. But he LOST the 3rd, possibly 4th, for sure 5th, and 8th. Then well we all know what happen after the 8th...B-hop took over!

yes I have basically made all of his supporters run away today. but my point isnt to convince them but to make them face the truth. and if they are idiots it will show.

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
Firstly, I'm no Hopkins or Taylor fan so I'm not in any camp. The fight was close for me and yes I'll admit it was the first time I had seen Taylor box so the predictions on the forum really influenced my opinion and based on what was said I went for Hopkins. That said during the fight I scored rounds 3, 5, and 9-12 for Hopkins therefore reaching a draw.
However, that said I did watch this with some friends, around 8 of us and again I'll admit there were no boxing 'experts' there including me! however most felt that Hopkins had only one 1 of the first 8 rounds if that and I was really struggling to convince anyone that Hopkins won 3 and 5. This I suppose is my point, to the casual observer taylor was doing more during the first 8 and that's what they saw.
To those of you who watch the fight 'in depth' over and over again you are fighting a first impression and that's difficult in this case because neither fighter was doing much in the early part of the fight but taylor was doing more even if it didn't always score.

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good fight
Wack2305-Well put!! I'm glad that some of us feel this way. The people were not cheated out their money in this one. We need fights like this to keep people interested in boxing. People are now becoming more aware of other divisions other than the Heavyweights. Hopkins was my boy going in and he still is my boy. I like Taylor as well and look foward to the rematch.

How can you honestly say that was a "Great fight"
It was TOILET and everyone bar YOU says so

Re: Hopkins vs Taylor. My boy lost. Respect to Taylor...that was a gotdam good f
I think tactically it was a very good fight on taylors behalf.most people/experts expected taylor to take the fight to hop in a relentless manner, fight it at his own pace not giving the older man a minute but he didnt.he was sharp taking his time, working in off his double jab,the way to fight a counter puncher.for me taylor won the first 8 bar the third losing the last 4.hop showed his class in those last four but to me he left it too late.

Firstly its my opinion...so don't call me a liar.
If I had'nt seen the fight why would I comment on it.
It was a great fight because it was back & forth Taylor once had Hopkins, Hopkins once had Taylor
& it was changing of the guard.
Boxing is more than just one punch knockouts.
Turd. ;)
