for real..
Damn.. Gotta admit ten rounds favours hopkins..
and if its close.. this is definately the kind of fight i can see ending in a draw unfortunately. :-\
Good news for b-hop, the bad news is that he still has to fight pavlik.
Defo favours Hopkins,he'll prob still take a couple of mins out here and there for low blows;)
That was just flat out stupid for Pavlik to agree to ten round fight with Hopkins. What was his management team thinking? This is a bad fight to begin . There's too much risk, not enough reward, I don't think this is the fight most people want to see. If he looses to Hopkins, it will look awful and if he wins he'll get not credit. On top of this, he agrees to a short fight that undoubtably favors Hopkins? Stupid management.
It will be a 12 round fight. There is no way in hell HBO would try to sell a 10 rounder as a PPV.
12 rounds regardless.
10 or 12 rounds the result will be the same CONTROVERSIAL ;D
Dan Rafael was asked about this in his chat last week on espn.com. He said that the comment was an error and that the fight is definitely scheduled for 12 rounds.
Those 2 rounds are going to make a big difference for Pavlik; guy is going to be in it tough the whole fight and those last 2 rounds should be where he can use his youth to his advantage stamina wise.
This is not going to be an easy fight for Pavlik, and a 10 round fight would not have helped in any way{unless he somehow ko'd Hop in that time, which I don't see happening}; glad that's not the case. He needed those 2 rounds in his rematch with Taylor and he'll need them in this one.
i think pavlik will still win
10-12 doesn't matter to either fighter, a 10 rd fight would of been disrespectful to both fighters especially B-hop. He hasn't fought a 10 rd since 1992.
I just see the longer it goes,it benefits Hopkins.I know,Hopkins showed some slippage and I questioned his stamina late, his methodical sniper shot style as of late is frustrating as all hell but Honestly,Exactly how many times has Pavlik gone past 9 rounds in entire career ??That may be very telling in the "Championship" rounds (Now we here its 12 rounds)Imo.
Fair point; but he went 12 with Jermaine and actually showed, at least in that fight, that stamina wasn't an issue by still throwing alot of punches and in my eyes winning that fight from those last 2 rounds. I can't see Hopkins being any better down the stretch than Taylor was, but who knows.
One 12 round distance fight of this magnitude.One.No matter who the fighter is, going against an old crusty craft master like Hopkins can ask many questions, ecspecially in the later rounds.I thought the 11th round body shot won that one for Pavlik,he nearly folded Taylor in half Lol and Taylor put on a much more disaplined fight.Look at the way Taylor manuevered Pavlik off the ropes on more than a few occasions and reset.Pavlik has shown some great improvments and will be up for this one like no other in career.I do think Hopkins needs to take big risks,he is out of tomorrows and can not "Assume" sharp shooting and cruising on past accomplishments will get him a victory. If Hopkins does......again, I'll even say :-X he deserves to lose It !I will cheer just as loud should Pavlik Take him out....He has earned it.
HBO boxing website listed this PPV fight as a 12 round fight...
Hopkins can just about last 12 rounds so he will be more comfortable doing 10
He kept trying to buy time vs Joe towards the end and he continuosly went back to the wrong corner , a sign that age is catching up with him so its afer that he does 10 rounds. I think he can last but he wont like Pavs pace.
Pavlik should fair ok, Hopkins will not press the fight so it should not tire Pavlik out. But on the other hand Pavlik will swarm Hopkins and make him even more tired and eventually in up taking him out late in the fight.
10 rounds?
What's next. They going to throw in hand rails?
If its a 10 rounder B'Hop might throw more punches knowing that he wont have to go 12 rounds which mite make it a better fight.Just a theory anyway.
It doesn't matter if it is 4 rounds Pavlik will get him out of there.Too much size, power, speed and his defense at this point is just as good as B-Hop.
Pavlik might nick it on work rate
Still wouldn't be surprised if Hopkins won tho.
Well I thought that was the norm if there is no title involvement whatsoever. I can't see anyone making it an eliminator for a LHW title and obviously Pavliks title is not on the line as I think its at a catchweight of 170. Gatti-Ward fights were all 10 rounders and they were 3 of the most entertaining fights ive ever seen plus Hopkins is too old these days he needs to kneel down during the fight to catch his breath lol.
8 years ago, I would have given popkins the edge but at this stage of his career, I don't see Hopkins winning. This will be a good fight for Pavlik and a very nice name on his resume although Pavlik has rarely had to go the distance, he is younger and he is only getting better. Pavlik has a lot of similarities to Antonio Margarito although Tony's conditioning is better I think this will be one of the things that team Pavlik will be working on and try to take b-pop out in the late rounds. B-pop was gassed against Calzaghe and I am looking for him to get gassed even more against a younger Pavlik. I am not saying that Pavlik will knock out B-hop but he will try. I would like to see b-hop get knocked out personally ;D If it goes 12, I guess we will just have to listen to b-pop complain about being robbed yet again  Please no! Come on Pavlik, knock this old fool out. You know, the one who said he would never lose to a white boy.? Yes, that one. ;D If B-pop does not come to fight like he didn't against Calzaghe, b-pop will lose and he will only have himself to blame again.
It will be 12 rounds.
it wont be 10 rounds 4 a ppv even if it is im sorry but i do believe i will see one of my fav fighters of alltime fall or take a knee and i mean bhop
Its 12rounds
Pavlik has never been in with a fighter as intelligent as bernard and i seriously believe bhop will either stop him or take a points win.
If the same hopkins that fighted calzaghe shows up he`ll win!!
my betting website is offering $2.65 for the fight to finish in under 12 rounds, so i'm sure that would not be the case if this fight was scheduled for 10 rounds.... Or I'd be putting my life savings on that bet and timesing it by 2.65
i can't fully trust pavlik's chin. Hopkins will have this by KO or he loses the fight thru decision.
