Bernard is 43 years old, Throws one punch at a time and slows down considerably as the fight goes on. Pavlik will be Pavlik and stop Bernard late.
Bernard will try to pot shot and might get one or two or even three in, But then again if Bernard does not get fouled out from headbutt, elbows and holding....He will get knocked out, One thing you don't do with Pavlik is get tired and not throw back.
Pavlik will be one of the most naturally strong, sizable and engaging fighters Hopkins has met to date.Hopkins must take risk's and realize this is his sunset last hoorah fight, tomorrows are not guaranteed.Grey beard Hopkins can not just coast on past accomplishments, glory and try to time Kelly out over 12. Imo,Bernard can/could/should/might ;D take Pavlik deep in many different ways but Hopkins must put hurt on him....early and follow up if he wants to win.
I Am Very Excited About This Fight. I Like Pavlik And Bhop Is My All Time Favorite Fighter.
No he won't.
i'm going with pavlik
If pavlik was a throw one shot at a time hoping to end a fight kind of guy hop would have a good chance to win. Thing is though pavlik has a great workrate and most of his punches have mean intentions behind them, and bhop these days doesn't do much especially as the fight wears on. Hop's crafty and he's going to make pavlik miss some and probably block a lot of shots but enough are going to get through to hurt hop a few times, I don't think hop gets stoped he'll find a way to stay on his feet but in the later half of the fight won't be that competitive and pavliks going to win it something like 8 rounds 4 .
I am gonna chuck my money on B hop for this one, I think he has taken this fight because he sees something very beatable in Pavlik he needs to step up the work rate and after losing so close to Joe I think he will
B Hop UD
To me, this fight smacks of the old boxing cliche where the aged, once great fighter hangs on for too long and gets stopped in his last fight by a younger fighter he once would've handled.
Hopkins has the tools to beat Pavlik.
His stamina may be his downfall for him in this fight costing him a close decision loss.
Pavlik will not KO Hopkins.
I agree he won't get the stoppage but I think Pavlik will win comfortably on points.
If there is a stoppage it will be a Hopkins retirement.
And yet another crafty, cagey veteran ;) I am not a big fan of Hopkins and I have not enjoyed him since his fight against Trinidad back in 2001 which I have to admit was one of his most exciting fights to date. However this is not the same fighter he was back then. If anyone can stop B-Hop, Kelly should be able to do it but will he? I don't know one way or the other but I am hoping Pavlik does his thang. How long can this dinosaur continue to fight some of the best fighters today at his age? What did Jack Loew say about the old dog? ;D Let me put it to you this way, Kelly Pavlik has never been in the ring with anyone like Hopkins and I think it has been a long time since Hopkins has been in the ring with anyone such as Pavlik.
Pavlik outworks Hopkins for late stoppage / points.
Hopkins will not win but he will make it as ugly as he can.
There are too many variables to say that the fight will definitely be one way or the other. Hopkins is old, but still has a bit of the pepper. Pavlik is probably the hardest puncher he's ever faced, but his defense can get porous and Bernard can make any fight ugly. And that's the part that makes this fight most difficult to score. Hopkins' defense is still very good and he will find himself on the inside as often as he likes where headbutts will come into play. Pavlik has shown a tendency to get careless and a well-timed punch can put him on the canvas. If Hopkins could let his hands go more often than not and still be defensive-minded I would give it to him, even at this age. But he's more than likely going to be highly economical and score with a few really good punches and cruise to a decision loss.
yea anybody who thinks hopkins is gonna win off skills r gonna be in for a big surprise tko 4 pavlik
Heh, yeah but you could've easily used that prior to any of Hopkins last 5, 6 fights? I mean everyone except Winky pretty well. I really don't know who to pick in this one. Just have such a hard time seeing Hopkins get really beat up though, I doubt that happens. I'd probably think Pavlik would handle him no problem at this stage, if only Hopkins hadn't taken the fight:p Now I just don't know. Maybe Pavlik is made for him, I could definetly see Hopkins using much better footwork and every trick in the book to win. Actually looking forward to this fight a little bit.
I personally see this as being Pavlik's toughest fight. I think Bernard will target that body while on the ropes, and can see Kelly getting dropped a couple of times. No one has targeted that very thin body of Pavlik's and I'd be surprised if Hopkins and his camp don't try to come with a gameplan to attack it.
Kelly sits right in front of you and throws lots of punches, but he leaves himself open for body work. Hopkins I think will let Kelly get him to the ropes and expect his defense and if need be his chin to be able to hold up to the onslaught; while trying to find openings downstairs.
I think Kelly will win, but as has been said already, the stamina will become a factor and I simply see Kelly outworking him; but I think he'll learn more from this fight than any other previous to it; and I think he'll get hurt in the process. Like him or not, Kelly is a game guy and will find a way to win, just like he did with Taylor I. I may be way off but jmo.
I think that Pavlik is going to win. It will be a close fight, but I see Pavlik starting strong and dominating Hopkins.
Bernard probably watches Pavlik and sees things to take advantage of and that's why he's not hesitant in taking the fight, but the problem is he might know what to do and still not be able to actually do it in the ring cause his legs are going.
A Bernard of the Trinidad fight, or even going back to the Johnson fight or Echols would have probably beaten Pavlik something horrible, and that's no disrespect to Kelly I'm a fan, its just I've been watching Hopkins old fights (when he wasn't boring) on the computer and he was just complete.
Im pretty sure that hops has the skills to beat pavlik but the question is does he have the stamina. He seemed to run out against JC which could get him hurt because unlike JC Pavs can punch
Pavlik for me on points - think Hopkins has the ring craft to avoid getting stopped but Kelly has youth on his side and he'll keep coming after Hopkins and will be too busy for him throwing probably double the punches of hopkins. These days stamina is the big problem for old grandaddy hopkins....
Bhop is a racist and a very overrated bum just like James Toney - Bhop lost 60 procent of his latest fights and his only weapon was his dirty tricks - his forehead. Dont get why this black criminal has not been banned from boxing long time ago.
I will never lose to a white boy - not sir because you newer fought a white a pulse..... - try Kessler, Abraham and you fucker will get some more defeats on your padded record.
It's funny though, that even with being an overrated black bum and only having dirty tricks, he was able to do so much better against Calzaghe than Kessler did, and even dropped him in the first round with a clean right hand. A weapon he apparently doesn't even have.. Wonder why Kessler couldn't drop Calzaghe  Not to mention win enough rounds to make it close. I guess he just isn't quite as good as a 43 year old black bum yet. He'll get there don't worry, right when he follows the example that bum sets forth by taking real challenges after losing instead of being a little punk and fighting nobodies in the EU.
I should add, that Kessler will never ever be as good as Hopkins was.
