What the hell are Kelly Pavlik and his team thinking ? i already think Bernard Hopkins will make Kelly Pavlik look bad but with less rounds i think it gives Bernard Hopkins even more chance to steal a decision because i think Kelly Pavliks pressure/power would be more of a factor in the championship rounds thoughts ?
I cannot see HBO attempting to sell a 10 rounder as a PPV. It will not happen. It would spell disaster for them.

Anyways, for what it's worth, I agree. Kelly needed those 2 rounds in the rematch with Taylor and I think he''ll need them in this one, as I think Hop will be his toughest fight and Hopkins always makes close controversial fights.
I actually think Pavlik is going to get put on the canvas a couple of times as I believe Hopkins is going to target his body and hurt him, but I see Kelly winning just from a workrate perspective and the fact Hopkins will gas; but those 11th and 12th rounds will be crucial imo if Kelly does by chance get put down.
No way it's a ten rounder. That's really unessecessary

True, but Calzaghe threw so many more punching in that fight and Hopkins and the throws those fast combinations so it's hard to really tell if he's land or missing. Pavlik throws volume, but he's not going to have the handspeed advantage that Calzaghe had over Hopkins. Pavlik will need to manage some clean, meaningful blows to go along with the output.Quote:

I see Pavlik winning the first three rounds while Hopkins is figuring him out, then Hopkins really picking Pavlik apart in the middle rounds, say 4-8. They Hopkins will get gassed, and Pavlik will come on strong at the end. That makes for a very close fight. If Pavlik gets put down, it's going to be hard to overcome.
Good points Rozzy. I hope I'm wrong and Pavlik doesn't taste the canvas; or hope for a ko somehow, though I just can't see that happening.
Anyone know who the ref is going to be for this fight?
10 rounds plays directly into Hopkins' hands.
B-Hop will clinch, maul, headbutt, bother, box, push, hold, and sneak his way to a frustrating decision. Pavlik will end up frustrated, and wanting to keep going at Hopkins... but could easily lose the fight.
It'll be a disaster of a fight.

The fight is 12 rounds.
If the fight somehow became a 10 round fight that would favor Hopkins big time.
i dont think this fight will be a disaster as most people think because kelly is a strong and exciting fighter and i seen kelly in an interview and he said the fight might be ten rounds but i feel when kelly hits hopkins a few hard times hopkins will change his gameplan. and it will be a little hard to clinch because kelly has reach and will keep his distance;D
It's 12 rounds. I has always been 12 rounds. Pavlik incorrectly said it was 10 rounds on one interview and now the rumor wont die.
12 rounds definatley benefits pavlik. He needs those rounds to play catchup IMO
I see it being a fight of two halves. Hopkins will be very hard to hit clean early on and I think he will surprise Pav with his power , he will land afew sneaky rights and counter most of what comes his way then spoil up close. Pav will be trying to work him out like he was with Taylor in the return . But Hops bright srat will begin to fade as Pav increases his workrate and begins to find the answers - his body attack . This will make Hopkins more stationary and once Pav has warmed to his power he wont mind fighting up close. Remeber Joe tried to keep it long cuz whenever he let his hands go hed get countered .
After 10 rounds we have a pretty close fight on the cards but the last 2 steal it for Pav as Hop comes close to getting stopped.
Hopkins showed that he was reaching middle age against a Calzaghe that was tame as far as Calzaghe goes. And even then was looking for excuses. Pavlik will retire this boring old bastard.
i dont think theres anyway this would sell if it was a 10 rounder so im going to have to assume that its a 12 rounder but you never know HBO arnt always the smartest bunch when it comes to quality boxing
