Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
For the aged members you can see his last outing on the file sharing board. Don't mind that the round lasts about 3min 30 secs the guy was never going to continue for long. But the fight was back in April and nothing since for Sakio.
Before that he had the victory over Jaidon "The Don" Codrington on the contender series around Nov 2007 i think, it was a great fight and a very good win for Sakio. Other than that he has some losses to Bute, Calzaghe and Soliman but all decision losses against top opponents with a number of wins in between each loss.
Is he being ducked? Why cant he get a fight? Anyone know whats going on. The contender was meant to launch his career in the US, but he's gone into hiding it seems. And also why hasn't his name crossed the lips of Mundine? Surely Sakio can now bring enough to the table to make the fight worth it?

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
I forgot all about him. His fight with Jaidon Codrington was very entertaining. We have to assume that he is being handled by TOC and Jeff Wald. Jeff is sort of guilty of only concentrating on certain fighters while leaving others out to dry, If Bika starts complaining and making noise, he will get more fights, that just seems to be the way things work with TOC.

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
Well sometime ago he was going to fight Librado Andrade which would of been amazing fight and if he won it would of done wonders for his career but he pulled out of the fight if i remember rightly and since then he has fallen off the map somewhat.

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
Bika is your a - typical high risk low reward victim.
He's a tough night for any fighter, but any fighter that beats him will not get the credit for beating such a tough guy.
Am I saying he's underrated?
Not as such.
I think he's never top flight, but has enough natural grit, resilience and aggression to distinguish the very top fighters from the second tier.
Guys will not fight him without a reason and removed from the title picture noone has reason to fight him.

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
Cuz he's so goddamn dangerous... You might be a fantastic fighter but Sakio can catch anyone. He's very strong and has good stamina and output. Not a good mix for even the most seasoned opp.

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
They don't want to have to see his wife ringside. :p

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
Thanks for the replies. Seems he may be cursed by his own ability. I hope he gets a decent fight soon or he'll be like people have said, a distant memory for most. It would be a waste if he didn't get some decent fights at this stage in his career.

Do you own shares in the contender series?

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
Looks like Danny has the hots for Sakio's wife, he even went as far as to bad rep me and call me a pendejo, lol. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ....I guess. Danny must be a chubby chaser. ;D

Too bad you are caught up on the exterior beauty of a person. You must be very superficial. I bet you would not say that about Bika's lady to his face.
I know for a fact that you would pee all overself, like a new born puppy.

That's more like it.

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
Well some of his inactivity was by choice, his wife was pregnant, and he wanted to be around for her, and for the birth. She had their 2nd child in June, so I'm sure he's ready to get back into the ring soon.

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
Well that would make sense then. He still seemed hungry for another shot at a big fight during his last outing so hope he's back in the ring soon.

His fight with J-DON was a classic.. Good fighter don't see him being up with top competition but a good journeyman/Gatekeeper.

Yeah you might be right there. I see him as world class in that he gives any fighter fits even the top guys. But if he just had a bit more speed he'd be very hard to beat with all his other attributes.

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
He throws looping punches and is wide open when he wings those hayemakers, someone with some power is gonna knock him out. You can see him coming from a mile away.

Re: Why can't Sakio Bika get a fight?
I think he'd make a good opponent for Froch or Inkin, he has enough power, determination, stamina, and dorty tricks to see if these guys really have what it takes.

Totally agree thats why he was badly knocked down against Jaidon because Jaidon countered with a shorter hook which countered Sakio Bika's wide looping shot and if he doesn't improve on that he won't last long at the top level.

At this stage in his career I don't see his style changing much... He'll fight his remaining fights on the frindge of the top tier possibly getting another title shot. He's exciting but no top level guys want to fight him.
He may, with a good trainer, shorten his punches a bit but they'll still be telegraphed. He is what he is, a hooker.

To be honest though POB has Sakio Bika really been ducked by top boys ? Joe Calzaghe/Lucian Bute both fought him and Librado Andrade was willing to fight him but Sakio Bika turned it down so to be honest the situation Sakio Bika is in now where he can't get a fight is his own fault IMO.

Oh, you're absolutly right... He def is a portion of the problem but we saw the fits he's given to top level guys... That's all I'm saying. All that for very little reward.
I think an Andrade fight would be extremely crowd pleasing...
