Is Breidis Prescott The New Hitman Hearns ?

You know for all the anti khan rhetoric and all the smug 'I told you so' and the 'He ain’t got no chin' brigade that has been said in here, maybe, just maybe he got beaten by a fighter/puncher in the lighter weight divisions of the kind we have not seen since hitman hearns was around. I can remember as an 8 year kid in 1980 watching Alan Minter supposedly going through a routine defence against some unknown American. He was stopped in 3 savage round on cuts, people were stunned and shocked, fans rioted, they couldn't believe that anyone could do this Minter. Who was this unknown guy ? Well unfortunately for Minter that unknown American was called Marvin Hagler....and the rest as they say is history.

So maybe the same the fate will happen to Prescott, the next Mayweathers, DLH's, RJJ's. Hopkins, Calzgahe's, Barrera's have to come from somewhere. Maybe in all this getting on Khan's back, maybe he was beaten by a sensational fighter....in the same mould and punching power of the Hitman himself.

Its possible that Khan got beat by the second coming of whoever you like. Wrong place wrong time as the sky boys said.

Odds are though that Prescott isnt that good, has a decent clump and Amir just cannot get hit in the head without it scrambling his senses.

Watch Prescott's previous fight it was aired in the US, he's what I would classify as a good fighter, definately not great. All that happened here was that Khan got caught, period. Prescott does hit hard, but to classify him as the second coming is definately going overboard. He couldn't hold a candle to Hearns.

hearns no the only person that reminds me of hearns is paul williams and thats because of the height an the way he jabs. prescott reminds me of ricardo torres they both just have pure power it would be cool to see them fight

Paul Williams is nothing like Thomas Hearns the only thing that compares is there height not even there jabs are the same Thomas Hearns used his famous Flicker Jab where as Paul Williams doesn't and Thomas Hearns fights tall where as Paul Williams doesn't and Thomas Hearns had power where as Paul Williams doesn't really and tends to wear opponents down with amazing workrate.

Prescott could be anything . He may be one of teh greats or he could go on to be a nobody who never gets heard of again .

Personally I liked what I saw of him . He turns his shoulders with his shots , hes quick ( contrary to prior belief ) and even though hes use to finishing guys, he has a high held guard

I saw him in a fight where he looked sluggish and slow. If he doesnt get you out early he seems abit limited or maybe that was a 1 off . He reminds me not so much of Tommy hearns but of Philip Ndou who fought Floyd . Dangerous but a clever boxer who takes into the later rounds can expose him . I hope not though , id like to see him get better and get a shot on the world stage.

Yea no doubt about it. Id say he might already be better than Hearns ever was, no way the Hitman could've taken Khan out like that.

it too early to tell but hes definitley one to watch with power like that.

Prescott is a good fighter, not destined for greatness. Khan got what he deserved after fighting cream puffs.

I'm rarely surprised on Saddo's but I didn't see this coming.

He's no bum. He's a big lightweight with good power and its not like he has no clue what he's doing. But he's too slow and wide to say he looks like a future elite guy. IMO. And we have no idea about his chin.

He will be outboxed by a fighter with a better chin... Khan was a KO waiting to happen and i got slated to fuck for saying so before this fight but it was obvious to anyone with a brain ;)

but saying all that Khan has great skills but his chin would always let him down.... its a shame because everything else he has is class :)

It's true and a damn shame. i've followed Khan for a while now, as I first got interested in his skill. He no doubt was fast and mobile. Had what it takes to go to the top, but...as time proved, the one thing that will keep you from going anywhere. The ability to absorb shots. And each and every time he steps in the ring...he further gets exposed for it, this last one being the worst. He may possibly have the weakest chin I have ever seen of a good prospect. Shame really, with all those skills.

Prescott has power.

But I see that victory in a similar light to Martinez's victory over Bernard Dunne.
Martinez was outboxed by Munroe in his next fight.

Presscott can and wwill be outboxed by any of the top ten.

Katsidis would have a good fight with him.

I would for certain stick Breidis Prescott in with Michael Katsidis that would be a winnable fight for Prescott and it would be a damn good fight.

If he could keep the pace and pressure up for 12rds a future champ for sure. Needs to get out of Columbia and get training hard.

I don't know shiet about Prescott other than what I seen the other day against Khan. I did not see anything in Prescott that would remind me of Thomas Hearns. The fact that Prescott has beat nothing but bums and complete unkwons, does not sell me on anything other than he is doing what he is posed to be doing against such opposition and beating Khan is not the exception either. Who the phuk was khan? Clearly not anyone I myself was excited about. :lickish:

If anyone recalls Apollo Creed when he looked sharp against Balboa? Now that is what Thomas Hearns is like ;) Sharp, fast amazing jab that can only be mimicked in a Hollywood film :)

While Tommy did indeed remind people of a Cobra, I think Prescott reminded me more of that creature from Aliens, however, there might be a little snake in Prescott somewhere here and there.

As the saying goes "you can only beat whats in front of you" and Prescott easily disposed of Khan. He might be a great in waiting, he may be a poor boxer with a big punch. Only time will tell.
