~ CutMeMick Attends the JMM-Casamayor Press Conf. ~ (Pics. & Vids)

I had an oppourtunity to attend the L.A. Press Conference for this Sat. fight between JMM & Joel Casamayor.

I missed the info. on fightnews but Diane sent me a PM and brought to my attention. It was pretty damn! hot out there and Casamayor made sure it got hotter read on and you'll find out how.


Golden Boy Proms. had 2 Aztec Dancers performing on the side and keeping the people entertained. The turn out was pretty good and overall the event was as usual well put.

Oscar De La Hoya arrives to the event. It's crazy cause you should have seen the amount of women there who wanted a pic or autograph of De La Hoya.

Gary Shaws speaks and jokingly tells Oscar De La Hoya that not only is he younger and better looking then him but he's also taking fighters from him one by one. He said it's always great promoting alongside GBP and he'll gladly do it again.

Sergio Mora thanks all the Latino community for coming out and showing support he says he's prepared himself well. He said he's ready to fight and leave it all in the ring. He said he always dreamed about fighting at the MGM grand and now he's doing it. He also said he doesn't want to be the next De La Hoya he want's to be the 1st Sergio Mora.

Casamayor said he's good and ready and he can't wait for Sat. night he said he's happy to see all the Latino community supporting.
As a closing comment he said to the people. I encourage you all to tell JMM to stand there and trade with me toe to toe.
To which the people responded with chants such as "Culero! Culero!" which translates to "Asshole! Asshole!"

JMM calm and collected. He said he can't wait to fight moving up in weight and fighting the best which is what a great champ does. Not picking out an opponent you know you can beat. He said he's ready to do his work he's been training in Mexico and everything went well.

I also managed to get JMM to sign my glove which already has Marco A. Barreras signature on. Hopefully I can one day get Erik Morales & Manny Pacquia to sing it and I'll have all 4 of them on 1 glove.

I got Joel to sign my Lightweights glove which has Carlos Ortiz, Mando Ramos and now Joel.

Great pics Mick, you must be becoming almost as recognisable at these events as some of the fighters.

I'm really intriguied by the JMM - Casa fight, I think JMM should take it, but you never know how a fighter will deal with moving up in weight, particularly when that fighter is facing Casamayor in his 1st fight.

I'm hoping Mora can repeat his performance against Forrest, but I'm undecided on who will win that one as well. I've seen an interview where Mora talks about wanting to stand and trade with Forrest, I think that would be a mistake.

This fight is getting more and more intriguing to me even though my conventional wisdom says that this is the guy who was getting worked by Santa Cruz and Katsidis his last two fights. But any time you match two counter punchers you have an interesting fight and JMM is venerable to the left hand especially between his own punches and Casamayor still does have 1 punch pop. It's a little more interesting then I first thought, think there will be a window in the mid to late rounds where Casa will have a shot.

I was in a bit of a hurry and the damn! media kept Casamayor and Sergio tied up.
I had to run off so I couldn't stick around.
