James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
James Toney vs. Audley Harrison Talks Still Ongoing - Boxing News
Hahahahaha!!
When i read this it made me laugh, Harrison really needs to retire, he just isnt a fighter, i would watch this but i would guess it will turn into a bore as most Audley fights are as he only works for about 45 seconds in each round.
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
I think people should lay off Audley a bit,
He shows guts even getting in the ring again after the humiliation vs Sprott (and national mocking), it takes courage and a man to do that i reckon.
Toney will make him look like a boy though..
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Anyone who can put up with all that booing fight after fight deserves some credit and i won't count Audley out lets have it right all the champs are their for the taking by any heavyweight at any given time.Wlad,Valuev and Peter aren't exactly dominant Champs are they?
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
I don't admire him at all. He isn't a humble guy or anything remotely like it! He swans around with his groupies giving everybody attitude, been a general arrogant prick, and he aint got anything to back it up!
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Toney will lay back on the ropes and pick him apart all night. This will be a cakewalk for Toney.

Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Well if it happens i go for Audley to win
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Toney will fold him in half within 4 rounds
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Is this for real? ;D
Well, I suppose Toney has to fight someone if nobody else will fight him. Audley will get eaten alive by Toney, fair play to Audley for having the guts to get in the ring with him though.
Toney will warm up for a few rounds and probably stop Audley when he feels like letting his hands go more. A funny matchup and I hope it happens soon because Toney needs to stay busy if he is to have any impact.
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
As much as Audley is a china-chin, Toney hasn't shown much power at HW. This one could go the distance. If Toney knocks him out, Audley really needs to hang it up.

Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
I dont know if a 40 year old can really do anything against the bigger man

Thats the thing though,Toney has never been a power puncher at heavy weight, and his hands are slowing down

Audley Harrison doesn't use his physical attributes, thats his problem. He looked awful against a 5 11 fat limited cruserweight on Saturday, Toney might be similar in stature as the fat cruiserweight but the difference is he is not limited.

That is true. Toney doesnt really have a proper KO at heavyweight, but I dont see Harrison as being anywhere near the elite at heavyweight either. Harrison is the type of opponent Toney can score a KO against.
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
And Audreys jab is non exsitent,he just paws away with it giving a decnt in-fighter all the belly he needs to bang away at.
He should use that as a battering ram but simply doesn't:rolleyes:
Toney would get inside and batter him silly in a matter of rounds.

Its kind of make or break for both of them, does Toney have anything left in the tank, and can Harrison actually beat someone

Toney impressed me somewhat for the second Rahman fight. He was honest about his lack of preparation for previous fights and you could see simply by looking at his face that he was in much better condition against Rahman this time. Ive no doubts that Toney was warming up against Rahman and was about to put on a display. If he comes in with the same attitude then he's probably got a decent shot against most heavyweights out there. Harrison isnt even top 10 fodder and hasnt actually beaten anyone as you point out.
The Rahman fight was annoying because it was inconclusive. My hunch that Toney was warming up can always be disputed by anyone that says Toney was shot against Peter second time out. Thats just the way it goes.

Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Saying that Toney will KO him is absurd. This finally may be Audley's big win. He is much bigger than Toney height wise,he is stronger. All I think he would need to win is his right jab. When Toney lay's on the ropes just touch him with a jab and shoot long left's to the belly. Toney is an old man folks pure and simple I don't think he is any threat to the heavyweight division except for the old washed up fighter's or fighter's who aren't in the top 10. The blueprint for Audley should be exactly how I stated if he dosen't get stupid and fall in on Toney. Keep him at a distance and he is not dangerous at all. He hops in, you push him back it's that simple.
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
But this is Audley we are talking about...he can't and won't get involved in a fight ;D
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
toney gonna make him look like an ass he aint gonne be able to land cleanly and even if he does toney has a great chin im rootin for toney 100%
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Toney looks good here and is obviously in the best condition he has been in since Holyfield. I think he beat Peter first time out but he did that actually looking more rotund than here.

Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
I believe James TOney will win an easy UD but I hope he doesn't fight down to the level of his opposition.
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Anyone that saw Audley-Arias last weekend will put their house on Toney.
I think he'd stop him. And the size difference would make it look hilarious. ;D

Did you watch Audley on saturday night? The guy was awful he doesnt use his jab, he doesnt use any of his physical attributes. Toney will beat him to a boreing UD.

Yeah, right, you can beat James Toney using 1-2s. Please. Toney will slip, roll, and counter with hooks and uppercuts. Throw that lazy jab that Harrison likes to use and Toney will time a left hook to the chin faster than you say Michael Sprott.
Like I said before, I don't think Toney will knock him out, but Harrison will get beat even if Toney turns up out of shape and fat. Harrison won't be able to land anything on Toney. Toney will know Harrison is going to throw before Harrison himself knows. This will be the final embarassment for Fraudly.

Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
I just hope it gets made. I really want to see this fight.
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Toney can still be a player in division if he commits his tubby arse some more and comes in focused & Sharp...
Audley can not and has proven that he will not up to this point......Toney would be wasting his time Imo.
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
You won't need punchstats for this fight you could count the overall punches on your fingers and toes.

It is a waste of time, but if there is no other fight to be made then so be it.

Oh please.
There is nothing boring about watching James Toney fight. Its a pleasure to have him around and still hungry for the fight game.

Toney should win. But James Toney has not done that for years, Toney hasnt looked remotely decent for years.

So his fight against Samuel Peter 2, Hasim Rahman 1 and 2, Danny Batchelder, John Ruiz, were exciting fights were they ? the only goodish action fight James Toney has been in for years is the first fight against Samuel Peter now you would think he would of been more motivated for the rematch but he came in even heavier which basically means he isn't getting off his lazy ass and putting in the work...........
You know how i feel on this matter Miles i want him to retire i enjoyed James Toney's fights against Iran Barkley, Vassily Jirov, Mike McCallum 1, Charles Williams, Michael Nunn, Tim Littles, Reggie Johnson, but now its time to retire infact it makes me feel a bit sad knowing how good James Toney was once now he is reduced to fighting jokes like Audley Harrison who isn't good enough to even carry his spit bucket.

Have you actually seen the Batchelder fight? I havent...Im curious to know where you have seen that.
Otherwise fair enough, nobody likes to see a fighter grow old. But I do take issue with how you define a boring fight.
Toney won the first Peter fight and yet you say he should have been more motivated in the rematch. Didnt Toney win the first fight?
And Toney isnt reduced to anything. He beat Rahman (Really) and actually has a face without multiple chins. Toney is in shape.
There is no shame in this version of Toney. He's alright how he is. Its only sanctimonious bastards who criticise.
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Toney lost bother the fights to Sam Peter. Just to clarify. And he was on his way to whooping Rahmans ass. I agree and in a stylish fashon. Toney has the some power in the gloves. I mean he can put punches together, and if you can do that you can TKO.
His inside game is unstoppable.
But seriously. Who is Audley Harrison? Really, who?

Maybe not but they would all crucify Audley
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
What do Audley Harrison and Michael Jackson have in common?
They both wear gloves for no apparent reason.
Just nicked that ;D
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
easy UD for Toney, I find it funny how Audley seem'd happy that he beat that Brazillian fella, he was acting like he defeated a real dangerous and tricky heavyweight, when he really only beat a fat cruizer with limited skills, funny thing is he looked good when he put combinations together but he only did it once or twice in the whole fight! he's a dilusional waste of talent, anyone hear him on Setanta's boxing hour saying how Guinn and Sprott ducked him, maybe because they both beat him easily already ;D
-
Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Audley Harrison barely makes top 10 British Heavyweihts of recent times, never mind being anywhere remotely close to world class. He would lose to any one of the below on their best night imo.
Gary Mason
Frank Bruno
Lennox Lewis
Herbie Hide
Scott Welch
Danny Williams
Michael Sprott
Matt Skelton
Pele Reid ;D;D

Re: James Toney v Audley Harrison!!
Christ people I never said Harrison would definetly win I said this could be his big win. If he somehow goes back to his amatuer day's and does exactly that when he won gold. Using his height and reach to an advantage. The last southpaw Toney fought was Jirov and to me gave him alot of problem's doing just that. Toney is not invincible people he is crafty and can be hit on the head as Peter showed.
