Andrew Hartley Is Severly Good People
Ive almost got him negotiated in to a decent money fight.
I never asked for more the a 7% trainers fee
When I told him 3 times tonight I didnt want any more then that,he said that he'd slip it in to the ring person I was sending with him's pocket if I didnt take it.
Makes me want to fight for the guy all the harder, not for the money, because he has character.
That discussion made me respect him all the more. I kept telling him dont worry about the money, you keep it,and he kept saying,no,your going to take this cut, wether I have to sneak it you or what
Ive never run in to a kid like this before

Re: Andrew Hartley Is Severly Good People
That's very nice of Andrew. Question is what are you going to do with those 19 dollars?

Try 500
Im going to find a way to sneak it back in to his purses so he didnt know I did it.It was really nice of him,but he needs the money more then I do,so Ill just slip it in to his purses so he cant see it,but he gets every dime back.

That's good. Maybe Thunder can make his way to Los Angeles with that money

Ive had a gym for some time,we train Andrew long distance, its the only viable way.
And unless you avidly follow the WV version of Amateurs(Rough N Rowdy and Toughman)I doubt youd have heard of any of my fighters. But we have had a champ in both come through here.
We have an amateur scene in theory, but nobody notices it,everybody does semi-pro here

Video, phone, tutorials, its not ideal but it beats what he had before, which was nothing coupled with nothing, and he is showing improvement for it

So let me get this straight, you are getting $500 at 7%, so this guy is getting paid like $7142 for his fight? WTF whose covering this fight HBO? Amir Kahn opponents dont get as much as that, you sure about this fee?
Or do you mean his total purse is $500? In which case you would be getting $35?

Not for this upcoming fight, but for one a little further down the road that should be tucked up and contracted soon, this upcoming fight in October Ill be lucky to see $14.
Theres a difference between fighting in Arkansas and the rest of the world,he's getting paid crap for the pimp fight.I only advised him to take it to pad his record. It looks to be an easy win.

Re: Andrew Hartley Is Severly Good People
If you can get me an $800 purse to cover my travel and leave me with a little for my trouble, and find me a LHW at the skill level of Harley, I'll think about driving down to WV. I need some motivation to get my ass back in the gym. If I were a welter, I'd fight Harley myself.

Re: Andrew Hartley Is Severly Good People
So VD was way off with his $19 guess , it was actually $14 lol:LOLATYOU:
Also Training people via the phone , well thats a new one on the rest of us , is he so poor a fighter that no local hands on trainers will touch him ??
This all sounds very very suspect to me. Also if a future fight he is contracted to have , you will get $ 500 , then can we assume he will be fighting a much higher ranked fighter ? yet he is still without any skill as the Dumas fight proved ? So either the $500 fee for yourself is BULLSHIT , or you have sold Thunder down the river. Either way face it if he shows no improment and loses his next fight , then he should be banned from the sport we all love, before he ends up badly hurt.

Man I can just picture that shiit
Trainer: Ok Andrew, you ready?
Thunder: Yeah Trainer. I'm ready. I can't believe I'm being trained by you.
Trainer: Just happy to help you out.
Thunder: I know. I just can't believe it. I feel like I hit the lottery and won 50 dollars.
Trainer: I just want you to listen and work hard
Thunder: Oh I will. With you in my corner I can beat Floyd Mayweather.
Trainer: Ha!
Thunder: Did you just laugh at me?
Trainer: Yes. I mean no. I said ahh. I jammed my finger against the dresser. Yeah that's it.
Thunder: You okay? Want me to go rub it for you?
Trainer: No I'm fine. Lets start the training.
Thunder: Ok. But do you think we will ever meet face to face?
Trainer: We will. When the time is right. You know I'm a busy man. Posting on Saddo. And uh, uh. And other stuff. you know?
Thunder: Ok I'll wait.
Trainer: That's good. Now lets start. This what I want you to do_________
Operator: Please deposit 25 cents for the next 15 minutes.
Thunder: Oh man. I don't have that type of money.

Re: Andrew Hartley Is Severly Good People
Whats interesting,is whats the difference between standing right there saying nothing, which is what most trainers do half the time, and carefully studying film on your fighter and explaining what theyre doing wrong or right?
I get film on Andrew, and send him film of what I want constantly, and then we discuss at length what was right,or what was wrong.
It would be easier if I had him in the gym,but its still producing dividends

You can definitely help him long distance, but you can only do so much without being able to correct him in realtime. He's so rough that even some basic instruction and a few pointers would improve him. I guess some gyms have pretty lousy training. I'm lucky, I've gotten hands on training from a guy who really knows what he's doing. It makes a huge difference.

Its a different way to train,Ill grant, and it really hasnt been tried before. But it does seem to be working. Im making it up on the fly,but Im getting results for it.10 years ago you wouldnt be able to do this, but technology is amazing some days.

Re: Andrew Hartley Is Severly Good People
Well TM your doing a good thing... I to have made fun of Andrew but he is living his dream as twisted as it is... I just worry he will dissapoint you as all the faith you have in him just to see him lay an egg next fight or gas out in the 1st min.. he should really focus on his conditioning BIG TIME, that way if he does resort back to his old ways when things arent going well his punch resistance will be better.. just my 2 cents

Re: Andrew Hartley Is Severly Good People
I just think you can't put lipstick on a pig, even if that pig is the governor of Alaska. Did I get that right?
OK, I have the same fears but again it's your life but yeah, there is a point where you aren't going to be able to play jenga with a tower made of dust. Hahaha ok I think the best advice you can get here is just not to listen to me. Jenga with a tower of dust, I really really like that one. Take that Andrew, you pile of dust.

Re: Andrew Hartley Is Severly Good People
I have a feeling Andrew might have a chance come October 18, but I also have a feeling that if he DOESN'T win, it might be his last chance. Either he or TM will give up on him. :-\

This is a fight he needs
Not for me,but for him
I can get him better paying fights if he stomps this kid in the first.I want this fight over with, then we can move into the real boxing world.None of this backyard BBQ sh#t,200 bucks and all the wings you can eat.
Guys fought that many times, and he's never been paid well enough to afford his own shoes and no-foul belt.
-
Re: Andrew Hartley Is Severly Good People
I don't know, $200 dollars and all the wings you can eat, that doesn't sound like such a bad deal.
Unless of course you don't have a job, and you only fight like once every couple of months, then yes, time to move on. :-X ;)
