Have we heard yet what Guzman's penalty will be for his blatant unprofessionalism?
I was very angry about this...
1) I was out with a bunch of people and ran back to my house only to watch Bradley beat Cherry(not that I didn't want to see that as I like Bradley)
2) I think for Guzman to come in overweight when if anybody should have issues it should be the 36 yr old Campbell it was very disappointing.
What type of penalty will he incure.
I would have bought Marquez Casamayor if I had know this shit bum was gonna blow it for me...

I feel for Nate he has hardly had any breaks in his career then it comes to a career high payday and this happens. 10wks away from his friends and family training he will never get that time back. If i was Nate id sue Guzman for all i could get.
Disgrace is Guzman

Agreed. It is very disgraceful. I can't imagine how pissed I be should I be Nate!
I have a photographer friend who also told me Guzman went to the hospital for dehidration the night before the fight

I've banished him from my top 10 P4P list for the time being. That's gotta have upset him.

Knowing the sport he'll probably get first crack at JMM.

Re: Have we heard yet what Guzman's penalty will be for his blatant unprofessionalism
I thought on the night the doctor stopped him from fighting? If thats the case - they can't give him a ban from the ring, can they? Just a money fine?
That's if the guy even wants to fight anymore... what a waste of talent :-\

Yeah Nate is a true pro and doesnt deserve this rubbish . Dispite seeing what effect extra pounds had on Castillo - Chico 2 , he was still willing to go ahead with the fight . True warrior! He's earnt his place as number 1 IMO. Came back from adverstity after an embarassing loss where most fighters would never be heard of again , Nate went in with the young unbeaten undisputed champion and have him a boxing lesson . Props to Nate
As for Guzman . I feel the boxing world feels the same way as we all do and hopefully will boycot his fights from now on . Shame really , such a waste of talent .

You should have called her out the blue and asked if shed move back in for the weekend cuz you need her computer .lol
So have you not seen the fight yet ? Forrest really turned back the clock in outpointing Mora . Could have stopped him from any point after the 6th I thought . We have to belive whatever excuse he gave after the 1st fight cuz he fought like a different bloke. Fantastic left hand .
Marquez looked like a million dollars. Quite a close fight though until the end where Marquez suddenly caught him . The cut seemed to bother Casa too but at 37 he just didnt have it anymore. Marquez was great but Pac and an old Casa are two different things
Anyway apologies for digressing from your topic . . .. . . . . . . . . Guzman is a knob ;D

Nah, no worries...
Yeah, move her back in... I'd rather brand my balls with a hot poker.

Re: Have we heard yet what Guzman's penalty will be for his blatant unprofessionalism
I wonder if Nate could sue him for loss of earning or something along thoughs lines.
Its not like Guzman was even close to making the weight.Seem to happen a lot in the last few years where fighters miss there weight.

Re: Have we heard yet what Guzman's penalty will be for his blatant unprofessionalism
Hardly see how this was blatant at all.
If it was he would not of gone into hospital suffering from dehydration...
I highly doubt they would of not trained right, or fucked about - this is joans biggest fight to date. Must of been a simple fuck up somewhere.
-
Re: Have we heard yet what Guzman's penalty will be for his blatant unprofessionalism
The thing is they offered him the fight with him weighing over, and he still declined. Shitty trainer? Mayweather maybe doesnt bother with the conditioning with Guzman? There is no good reason for pulling out he had plenty of time to train.

The way I see it is if you mind the scales throughout camp it's never a problem. He is known for not listening to his team... Not making weight hosital or not is not an excuse. He would have known about this 3 weeks ago.

Re: Have we heard yet what Guzman's penalty will be for his blatant unprofessionalism
If amateur boxers in my local gym can make weight while going to school or holding down a job then there is no excuse for a top pro boxer.
Guzmans been boxiing for a long time so he know the score about eating right and all that.

Exactly... Had he been on weight the whole way through camp(when I say on weight I don't mean the contract weight but the steady decline through camp) he would not have gone to the hospital, weighed in heavy or had the fight called off...
There is no excuse.

Never underestimate the combined power of ego and stupidity...this was no simple screw up. If he had trained properly, he never would have dehydrated himself to the point of need the hospital.

You'd have thought Mayweather Sr would have been monitoring his weight alot closer

If I were Campbell I wouldn't agree to fight him again until he'd made weight and fought 2 opponents. Training camp is a long time away from family and Guzman wasted his.

Re: Have we heard yet what Guzman's penalty will be for his blatant unprofessionalism
Dan Rafael of ESPN.COM just reported in his blog that
1) Guzman got off with a slap on the wrist of a small fine from Mississippi regulators
and
2) Campbell got paid nothing and will not get paid anything. His only remedy is to sue Guzman for breach of contract. (which could take years of litigation)

Re: Have we heard yet what Guzman's penalty will be for his blatant unprofessionalism
the thing is it doesn't matter what Mississippi would have done really. So they ban him from fighting there for a year, two years, so what, that just means he wouldn't be able to fight in Mississippi, who cares he could still fight in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, California, on and on. Its not like one commissions ruling applies to the other in a case like that. Its like the case where Louisiana suspended Allan Green for not showing up to fight on that ESPN2 card a few years ago, of course Allan Green didn't care, its not like he was planning on developing a following in Louisiana.
They could have fined him, I guess.
And I wouldn't be surprised if he was sued, I could be wrong but Castillo's financial problems mainly stem from the Corrales fights and the law suits after that.

It's quite the shame, though.

I think you are wrong. If you are suspended in one state you are suspended in all of the united states(as per the full faith and credit clause). Remember when Holyfield got suspended By New York after his loss to Chris Byrd. It took him a year to get that lifted).

For example if I have a license to fight in Texas, obviously I can't force the Nevada commission to sanction a fight. Or else the different standards of the different states would be worthless.

I am not positive but: being license to fight in a state and being suspended are different. You can be rejected for a license in one state but approved in another; but, if you are suspended by one state, you are suspended in all of them.

I actually wanted to take a sports law class, but figured it would have very little to do with things like this and more to do with wankers like Randy moss.

Moss cleaned up his act since he came to NE... Mind your mouth, Booze! Remove Moss's name and insert Owens:cool:

As far as I know suspensions only carry over from commission to commission in case of a medical reason. I could be wrong I guess.
