Mosley to me becomes the winner in this match but you cant count out Mayorgas power and chin.
The only way i see Mosely loses this fight is if he breaks both hands in rd 1 - otherwise this will be a clinic...
Mayorga blocks with his face, and sends an email before each punch...I would put telegraphs each punch, but its 2008...
I think Mosely will win but worry about how he performs due to the ring rust at 36.
I think Mosely has looked at Mayorgas fights against Trinidad and De La Hoya and sees himself doing a similar number, both of those fighters were younger and fresher when they fought Mayorga and Ricardo didnt really go in, in shape with either.
Mosely gave Cotto a close fight but in comparrison, what the big but limited Margarito did to Cotto puts Shanes performance in perspective.
Mayorga manged to hurt both Trinidad and Oscar (as he himself admitted) but just ran out of steam then started taking punches, if Ricardo gives himself a fighting chance and comes in, in shape, I see him being to much for Shane to handle at this point.
Mosely hasnt had to fight an agressive fighter for a long while, someone who will push him and let their hands go, hes been given space and time to work by his recent opponents, he may get a shock early, realising hes in a fight and hes got old (in boxing terms).
37
right im going with Mayorga by ko rd5-8
I see Mosley ahead on points when Mayorga lands a bomb on him and takes him out
Yeah thats the spirit!!!!
Mayorga is awesome, im fed up of reading how Mosely is gonna wipe the floor with Ricardo but I just dont see it;D
When both were at the top of their game Ricardo beat Forrest Twice and Mosely didnt Twice.
Mayorga didnt train for De La Hoya (I dont think) and had given up on his career after already taking a pay day and not training against Trinidad.
I think the Vargas win although not a big acheivment, has given Ricardo a new lease of life.
Mosley has never been stopped. If Cotto couldn't do it, Mayorga sure as fuck isn't going to. This is a guy who fought a fat, shot Vargas to a MD. The same fat, shot Vargas that Mosley stopped twice (though their first fight was very competitive).
SSM is a class above Mayorga, even at his advanged age. Mayorga isn't exactly young either.
I'd guess Mosley with ease.
Mosley will easily outpoint him. Never mind that Cotto couldn't stop him, prime Vernon Forrest, who at the time was big and hard hitting WW, couldn't stop him. Oscar never hurt him. The only guy to ever hurt was Shane Mosley was Vernon Forrest. Fact.
I know Mayorga beat Forrest, but they are completely different fighters and styles make fights. You beat Shane with a jab. Winky, Forrest, and Cotto all beat Mosley with the jab. Even a older version of Shane eats wide swingers for breakfast. Mosley on points or late stoppage.
I see this as a waste fight for Mosley. Surely he could have fought a top guy at 147lbs and get back in the mix. At 36yo i really see this as a step in the wrong direction for Shane.
By your reckoning then, Mayorga has the better punch resistance seeing as Forrest is the only man to hurt Shane:rolleyes: but couldnt put a dent in Mayorga with clean shots and free ones at that;D
So when Mayorga lures Shane in to a shoot out he will be the last man standing and I guarantee Shane lets his emotions get the better of him come fight time, Mayorga aint done as a fighter and he certainly aint done as a shit stirrer;D
Mosley will out box him for 12 rounds, that is all.
I love watching Mayorga but I can't see him outboxing Shane. Mosley UD.
So now its Mayorgas greater skill level that allowed him to slip and block every punch coming his way and counter more effectively getting the ko;D
Mosley should dominate by TKO with his speed and better physical condition. Mayorga best times are gone, specially after those vicious left hooks from Tito ;D
the only good thing about this fight is to see mayorga do something odd and funny......mosley is too good
mayorga is a good brawler he cant be p4p fighters, he can try but he cant
but i like mayorga i a huge fan of his hes fun to watch...alll about the hype
You really need to learn a few things about boxing. Mayorga kept Forrest on the defensive, out of his rhythm, and Forrests style played in to Mayorga's hands. I never said it was Mayorga's nonexistant skill level that allowed him to avoid the KO blow. There are plenty of times Ricky Hatton never takes a flush shot and it's not because of his defense. It's because he keeps people on their heels with workrate, angles, etc, and that's what Mayorga did to Forrest. Forrest didn't control the fight with this jab and superior reach in the Mayorga fights the way he did against Shane. I think that's called "ring generalship." Different matchups, different styles. Forrest was able to do that to Shane because he a stylistic nightmare for Mosley. Against Mayorga, Forrest couldn't control him with the jab and he couldn't cope with Mayorga's unorthodox style.
Like I said before, you beat Shane with a jab... controlling distance and disrupting his keeping him out of his rhythm, disrupting his rhythm. Shane slids and steps in, you calmly put a jab in his eye and set up your own attack. If you run in wildly, trying to overwhelm him, you allow him to sidestep and counter you with fast combinations. Sure, he may eat a shot while dishing out a three punch combo, but he'll land three times to your one. Mayorga doesn't have the ability to cut off the ring and make his aggression effectively against Mosley. It's going to look a lot like Mosley against Vargas, maybe not as decisive, but that's going to be the end result. Mosley UD or stoppage 10+.
Go ahead and get in your last word, ross, it will just prove how little you know about this sport. This fight isn't even up for debate. You minimize Shane performance against Cotto by calling Margarito limited. Yeah, well George Foreman was limited, too, and he beat Joe Frazier. That doesn't take anything away from Frazier. You just don't understand how these thing work this work.
Oh, let me guess, you'll come up with stupid one liner and put a smiley face up and declare your the winner. Tool. Care for a sig bet?
Honestly Imo,I think this fight makes no sence.Mosley is nearing the end of HOF career with some vitality in the tank and this is the best promotion can do ?
Too bad Judah "Slipped" in the shower
Mosley, easy UD.
Mosely is probably too good for Mayorga. But, I like the wild man Mayorga and hope he is able to at least give us a performance to enjoy. Shane is probably too slick though.
So Mayorga has the ability to take people out of their rythm and when you take Shane out of his rythm you beat him.
Foreman was undefeated, Margaito had a bunch of losses and not just early ones, recent ones against Williams and Santos, he is limited to who he is able to beat but he managed to make Cotto quite like a bitch, Mosely couldnt.
I think Mayorga can fight harder than Shane can at their respective times of careers and Shane does take shots, with power and resiliance like Mayorga you dont want to try trading while your 37;)
Mosley won't stand in front of Mayorga. You don't get the concept that matchups make fights. You haven't given me a reason why Mayorga is tough matchup for Shane. I've given reasons why other fighters have been able to handle Shane. I could go on about Shane's resume but it would take too long. Mayorga's resume includes two wins over Forrest and that's it. You clearly think that because Mayorga beats Forrest, Forrest beats Mosley, Mayorga beats Shane. That's the only logical premise for your argument. Except is does work that way in boxing. Shane will box circles around Mayorga. He's much faster and far more skilled. Power and resilience of Mayorga? I remember him getting sparked rather easily by ODLH and he basically quit, totally demoralized because he realized he wasn't in the same league. He'll find out the same thing with Mosley. Mosley might not have the power to take out Mayorga like Oscar did, but he will frustrate and demoralize him. It's not even close.
Mosley has never boxed circles around anyone, he has done well out of his speed, outlanding but at his age he wont be able to fight hard, against Cotto he threw one punch at a time, he cant put the big combinations together any more.
Mayorga has always been able to fight hard and fast even when not in shape for at least 4 rounds, if he is in shape (I hope he is) he will just be too much for Shane to handle, hes not the small Cotto who doesnt take punishment very well and fights at a very low pace.
I see Shane getting caught in a brawl and Mayorga swarming all over him, then Mosley will realise he has no place in a boxing ring any more, he doesnt have the kind of style that will allow him to be competetive at this age, he trades and that will be his down fall.
If Mayorga had fought Oscar before he was beat by Spinks, I think he would have done the same as he did to Forrest, Spinks seemed to take his care for his career away.
I think the Vargas fight has rejuvinated his desire a little.
