I have heard Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins are one of the richest. Is that true ?
Oscar De La Hoya is the richest. Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins have made OK money throughout their careers but nothing huge like Oscar. Hopkins' biggest payday was actually against De La Hoya.
Hopkins and Roy are paupers compared with Oscar ;D
I believe both their highest single purse is $10million - Hopkins for the Oscar fight, Roy for Ruiz.
Oscar made $50million for Mayweater.
Hatton earned a reported £15m ($30million) for the Mayweather fight.
Oscar is one of the richest athletes in the world, let alone boxing. Hopkins made some good money and held onto every penny. Roy Jones However, supposedly lost a lot of money on his rap albums which he self financed. Many people feel that that is why he continues to fight.
De La Hoya by far
Oscar easily.
Hopkins and Jones have a lot because they have had long careers. Id say Hatton is very wealthy considering he is under 30 and has crazy drawing power. Should Hatton fight for a few more years and throw in the Pac vs Oscar winner he would become mega rich.
With His investments I thought it was Larry Holmes ;D
ODLH definitely has to be up there.
weird floyd mayweather hasn't been mentioned he has to be up there ?
Pure earnings has to be Mike Tyson.
But right now, he gotta be one of the poorest !
Not that he will ever need to pay into a club or a buy a beer i imagine !
ODLH,keeping in mind Hopkins has a partnership with Golden Boy,Hopkins,Mayweather has got to be up there
ODLH leaves everyone else in the dust, with his ridiculous purse earnings revenues from The Ring and GBP noone else comes close.
#46 Oscar De La Hoya - Forbes.com
Naz deserves a mention.
He was earning millions per-fight whilst the likes of Barrera and Morales were killing eachother for $100,000
George Walker ;D Billionaire Fought for the British Lightheavy Title in 49
ODH is top
But Big George Forman has made $240 million which has to put him top 10
Naz is the richest British fight mainly down to the way he invested his
Obviously out of the current fighters ODH and Hatton are probably the richest, but I'd imagine that Pacquiao has made a ton as well. He's pretty much a national icon in the Philippines (from what I understand).
Considering his spending habits, gambling, and "making it rain." He won't be rich for much longer.
I also heard he doesn't have any money in a bank because he doesn't trust them which I think is really foolish.
De La Hoya also said in a recent video interview on ESPN that Mayweather will come back because "from what I heard, he needs the money"
Pacquiao brings his money back home to the Philippines. The foreign exchange rate is 47 Pesos to each US Dollar. You can do the math...
ODLH by far, he must have hundreds of millions.
My top three, not in any order. If I had to pick one, it would be Foreman or De La Hoya. Either has had enough earnings to easily be worth $200 million from other investments/enterprises. I just don't see how PBF could do the same, but it's still completely possible with a well-managed portfolio. Neither of these 3 is going to be hurting for cash :) Not that sales equate to wealth - because who knows how much of a cut they are getting, but here are some numbers I found . . .
According to Forbes ODLH made $43 million in 2007. His 18 PPV bouts totaled $612 million, the most in boxing history. His net worth is estimated to be upward of $150 million. The Mayweather PPV buy total was $120 million alone. Today, in addition to running Golden Boy, De La Hoya is a real-estate mogul (he partnered with a Los Angeles developer to invest $100 million in housing and commercial properties in Latino communities) and part owner of six Spanish-language daily newspapers across the U.S. He is heavily involved in the day-to-day management of the 35 boxers who fight under the umbrella of Golden Boy, which hopes to expand internationally with offices opening in England and eventually in Asia and Africa.
According to Forebes, PBF made $26.5 million that same year. His net worth is estimated at $150 million. SI reported Mayweather was the 4th highest earning athlete in 2008 with $42.4 million.
George Foreman will not disclose how much he has earned as a product endorser, but he doesn't dispute a published estimate that his lifetime earnings are about $240 million - three times what he earned in the ring. In 1999, Salton Inc. bought the rights to use his name and selling skills in perpetuity for $127.5 million in cash and $10 million in stock. It stands as one of the biggest endorsement deals for any athlete. Under the original 1995 deal, Foreman had a right to 60% of the profits from the grills, which range in price from $20 to $150. At the height of its success, Foreman received $4.5 million a month in payouts, says Salton CEO Leonhard Dreimann. But, in the past few years, consumers have put off replacing their old Foreman grills and Salton reported a loss of $3.2 million on sales of $274 million in a recent quarter.
Not a boxer, but dayuum. Don King, in 1996, according to Forbes (The King and His Sport, at Twilight - Forbes.com was worth $350 million. I really believe this one because, he has been ripping people off since the 70s. :o
I believe it is Kid Diamond.
If he hadn't been daft with it and didn't lose it to Don King and stuff it would have to be Tyson he earned a reported £500m but ended up about £36m in debt oh well.Other than him it would have to be Oscar
odlh of course many guys who make money also
like fernado vargas
Hmm. Maybe he is actually a genius. :) Let's see if this economic avalanche starts hitting banks and then we'll be calling him Pretty Boy Buffett. I may start "Floyd"ing my money too!!!! (for those that don't know, that means stuffing it under your mink mattress) . . .only the one I have is just a Serta.
Just from boxing or from other interests?
Cos Big George Formeman has made an absolute killing with his lean green fat grilling machine or whatever it is called.
