Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series
Itv did themselves no favours by buying the most boring domestic heavyweight fights . Each one was a failure.
I really hope Thaxton does well. Ive never known a fighter more determined. He could have retired after Colin Dunn stopped him or Emmanuel Augustus but he came back , then he had a damging defeat to Hatton and could have walked away but he tried again. he was unlucky vs Rowland but he tried again . i thought wed seen teh last of him vs magee but he came right again . he recently lost a ebu title challenge but here he is again . if nothing else he is persistant . i wish him wel but i duno how good this Melero guy is so i cant call this fight . I hear Herbie Hides fighting too . He needs to move up and fight Audey IMO. that would be the only fight to create interest for the both of them.

It was a good fight . Premature stoppage IMO. Macintosh found his second wind .

Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series
How bad is that backstage interviewer. Im cringing . Makes the whole show look really low budget

Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series

Now we know why Khan avoided him . Pretty impressive result from Thaxton . Well done Jono!

Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series
I was at the Rumanov fight and Jonno was just getting back into things when he got that cut, totally outboxed for the fist 5 rounds mind but he was starting overpower him and he was a slick fighter Romanov.
Still a force even at his age and like Mr Hennesey said he'll always have a punchers chance even at World level.

Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series
nice to know he won, couldnt watch him yesterday was at a boxing show

Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series

Romonov is world class and was in complete control of the fight. He would have stopped Thaxton but for the cut. Thaxton is not at that level. He is a good guy but he would be very lucky to win a real world title.

Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series
Good news for Thaxton, he seems a decent bloke and would now love to see him fight Khan for his belt and spark him.
Haven't seen the fight yet, but am getting a copy so can't wait for it

Only joking, dont think anybody was expecting that result.

Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series
Rosenthal and the backstage muppet were ruining it for me. Didnt rate the kid who stopped Spartacus, didnt like his punches at all, he's getting sparked soon ;D
Top notch finish from Thaxton, imagine if Amir was on the receiving end of that? He's still be out now. Well pleased for him.

Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series
Yeah the backstage reporter was ultra jarring.. I was hoping someone would chin him.
Good stuff from Thaxton. I backed the other bloke but don't mind losing like that.
And Smash, Thaxton was never in the Romanov fight, if they fought 10 times Thaxton wouldn't win one.. simply outclassed. ;)

Agreed there fenster.
The bloke backstage was annoying, he'd ask a question and basically cut them off before they'd finish speaking

Re: Thaxton kicks off exciting new ITV series
The guy that beat Sparticus fights like Froch, it was a good fight, who was he?

Danny McIntosh, from Norwich, it was only his 8th pro fight and he's 28 so a late starter to the pro ranks
