If he keeps dropping that jab after throwing it, Kessler's gonna get flattened soon.
Maybe not Haussler, but a Froch or Bute would time that perfect.

Re: Kessler`s training video
kessler needs to fight the Froch and Bute's already..
he fought calzaghe, and then decided he wasn't going to fight anyone decent. He even had his tune up, if that's what he wanted..

Froch, give me a break,Froch has no defence,Kessler will jab his head off all night and
probably KO him too

Re: Kessler`s training video

Right now I suggest any fighter at or around 168 looking to capture a title stay clear of Kelly

I really hope HBO push Kessler into a big fight next time out. Mikkel has superb skills and would love to see him fight Froch or Pavlik.

Kessler/Pavlik is the fight I most wanted made as I wanted to possibly gauge what kind of chance Pavlik had against Calzaghe after a fight with Kessler; obviously if he lost it would be a moot point.
Since Joe seems to be ready to retire I would imagine getting a fight with Kess 1st is going to be below slim chances as Joe isn't going to sit and wait around to see the result.
To be honest I would have prefered to see Pav fight Andrade before either Joe or Mikkel. All 3 fights would be great action fights. And Pavlik is looking at possible losses in all 3.
Good vid by the way; though I couldn't understand WTF anybody was saying:dunce:
-
Re: Kessler`s training video
Kessler cares more about collecting paper titles then actually fighting good fighters.
HBO will never televise these fights where Kessler fights some Hobo for the "Regular-interim" WBA paper title of the galaxy.
Its garbage.

Re: Kessler`s training video
I was really impressed with Kessler when I watched him fight Calzaghe. I remember agreeing completely with Manny when he praised Kessler even in defeat. Which is why I was surprised when Kessler pulled out of the Miranda fight, I thought he'd destroy Miranda. I can't avoid thinking that possibly the pulling out of that fight is indicative of what his trainers (or himself) really think of him. On the other hand, I understand the need for a tune-up fight, but two tune-ups? That I don't understand. Kessler previously dominated Andrade and he was on the world stage when he fought Calzaghe, why take a step back?
Also, note that Haussler only has seven KO's in his 29 wins (KO% = 21.1%). That shows me that Kessler currently doesn't want to fight anyone with a big punch. Again, this slightly baffles me because of his the people he has previously fought and beat, but who knows maybe losing to Joe took some of his heart.
-
Re: Kessler`s training video
I like Kessler and still think he gave Calzaghe a good test. Hopefully he can take on some of the better 168 fighters again

Kessler has to fight Haussler,he is his mandatory, even team palle says it is a shit fight
Palle: This is a purse bid I did not want to win

I like Kess,as a fighter,so I hope he was just slumming for the cameras in that "training video"
1 punch at a time,nothing but jabs,etc

But, there is already talk of him meeting Winkie Wright in the beginning of the year and Pavlik in the Spring.

Gotcha.
But remember Chad Dawson was recently faced with a similar situation. Chad Dawson's mandatory was Adrian Diaconu, but rather than fight Diaconu for the strap, he decided to relinquish the strap in order to gain recognition from a fight with a bigger name opponent, Antonio Tarver. In that scenario, arguably Dawson was ducking Diaconu to fight someone with less pop, but the point still stands: the utility of a belt is that it gets you champion status and big fights. Tell me I'm wrong, but if you can already land the big fights why settle for a BS mandatory fight unless it is a tune-up (see Pavlik's destruction of Gary Lockett)?
Another reason to doubt Kessler's current status is his inactivity. Why has Kessler only fought twice (both European club fighters) since his Calzaghe defeat a year ago? Compare his activity and level-of-opposition to another of Calzaghe's victims: Peter Manfredo. Since being destroyed by Calzaghe (six months before the Calzaghe v. Kessler fight), Manfredo has fought 6x, including a losing bout with Jeff Lacy, which was very close, and his next fight is against Sakio Bika. I'm not heaping praise on Manfredo, and I think Bika will maul him, but the inactivity of Kessler may reflect his confidence and motivation.

Kessler was injured after Calzaghe fight,so therefore his inactivity

Considering his choices of opponents and his inactivty, you are not a little concerned with Kessler? I understand the injury caused his inactivity, but still...

Mr. Thompson is his sparring partner. Might he have a slight bias?
Pavlik chose to fight Bernard Hopkins - Kessler chose not to fight Miranda and fight Satison and then Haussler. Nuff Said.

Re: Kessler`s training video
Yea Pavlik chose to fight Bernard Hokpins the guy that alot of people thought beat Calzaghe the man he schooled Kessler. Not only that he is jumping up 15 pounds to do so i respect that and i hope the best for Pavlik and i think he win it. To me Kessler should not be fighting bums but thats his chose see what he does in the future but for now Pavlik is stepping it up and i respect that alot more and hope he does well. Also would like to see Pavlik vs Calzaghe would be a great fight as well not sure it will happen.

Agreed. Furthermore, I don't think Ring Magazine will keep Kessler at # 1 for much longer if he fights another nobody. Don't get me wrong, I think Kessler has or had loads of potential. I think he is a very good boxer. I am just dismayed by the direction of his career. I expect him to blow out Haussler and set up a fight with a big-time fighter. Kessler should fight one of the three following fighters if they win in the coming months: Bute, Taylor, or Froch. Anything less would be a big-time disappointment.

You mean the Thompson who is under the employment of Kessler and who also fought Pavlik back in 2004 when Pavlik was still an 8 round fighter?
Yeah that's the ticket!!;D
So If Pavlik Beats Hopkins, and Hopkins says Pavlik could beat Calzaghe, does that mean he could beat Kessler also by default? Now do you see what kind of weight those type of statements carry?

Re: Kessler`s training video
Kessler is good looking, fit and strong - and a great guy. Is he a great boxer? NOPE.
He is far from it. A few wins over a ancient Beyer and a cowardly Mundine don't make you elite. So he went the full 12 with Joe - who doesn't? Ashir, Lacy, Hopkins, Bika.....
...infact Bika gave him a much harder fight than Kessler whom apart from one round was crap. Hardly fight of the year. Infact i dont know of any show-reel fights on his resume apart from the ko of Beyer and even he seemed shocked by it himself.

Bika was a dirty fighter, therefore it was a hard fight for Calzaghe, not because Bika was a good fighter

Re: Kessler`s training video
Jangeorg your a massive kessler fan and you always bring interesting news to the forum which im greatful for.
I aint a hater on Kessler, but i just think he's got a lot of adulation through his personality rather than his ability.
I like him and enjoy watching him fight, but he is definitely not the elit level people think.
I would also bet on him not taking another risk for at least another 2 years, until he has beaten a load of bums and earned enough money to pay off his Monaco house, Ferraris and stuff.
;)

You don't know what you are talking about. Kessler is very good. I would define you as a hater.
But in defense, Kessler should have picked up the pace by now. But having being handed a defeat has a different sort of effect on different fighters.

I Hope Kessler fights a name next.
I have to say the guy he is sparring is 5 6" and well over 200lbs or call me Her Mier.

Bika was a dirty fighter, therefore it was a hard fight for Calzaghe, not because Bika was a good fighter
Thats stupid logic if Sakio Bika wasn't a good fighter and just dirty, then going by that logic Joe Calzaghe isn't a very good fighter for struggling against a limited fighter like Sakio Bika as you put it.
Sakio Bika isn't a bad fighter at all, he does make it a rough/physical fight. But that doesn't mean he is a bad fighter just like Bernard Hopkins isn't, who also has been making it into those kind of fights lately. The only fighter who has beat Sakio Bika well. Is Lucian Bute who is the dark horse of the division, and i think he would beat your boy.
Its about time Mikkel Kessler stops fighting mediocre fighters and steps up to the plate. The 1st time it was ok but again ? hell no i ain't buying that excuse again, he should of fought Edison Miranda but backed out. He also should fight Lucian Bute if Lucian Bute beats Librado Andrade, but i doubt he will anytime soon what the hell is wrong with Mikkel Kessler ?

Entirely Agree.
