If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
The only person i can see fighting is margarito, and im not so sure oscar will go through with it.

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
I could see a fight with Hatton because of the money.
Not that I'd want either fighter to go in that direction, and thats only if Ricky beats Malignaggi

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
hatton would be a big money fight

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
Hatton is a fool if he fights Oscar. Would love DLH to fight Margo.

Floyd can frustrate Ricky but Paulie can't and will not. Paulie has 1/10th of Mayweather's fast hands and slickness. He won't frustrate Ricky at all. A weight drained Cotto beat Paulie pretty convincingly. And seeing how Hatton is fighting back down at 140 he takes a comfortable UD against Malignaggi.

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
I was hoping he would go for margo wich i think is very winnable fight for Oscar and a fantastic way to finish an already increible career.
Otherwise I would say Hatton. More so cos i hope it would be in england and would give me the chance to watch Dela Golden in the flesh.

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Winky Wright, but since ODLH is a cash generating enterprise we will more likely see Hatton.
-
Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
I heard he's eyeing the winner of Darchinyan Vs Mijares.

winky has been calling out oscar for years but i dont see this fight happening mainly because its a fight that oscar could not win and wont generate alot of money. if anything oscar would most likely fight a hatton which to me is a pointless fight but would make a ton of money.

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
ODLH's priority list:
1. Hatton
2. PBF (rematch)
3. PAC (rematch)
Or he could give his own boxer, JMM some chances to shine... ;) (Isn't it JMM is also challenging Hatton?)

Nonito Doniare..then Ivan Calderon....
Assuming neither jumps up a weight class first

I think Calderon may be too big at that point, he's already weighing in like 112 on fight night.

With high stakes like That,Oscar is sure to insist on a 60-40 split.
Look, honestly,I really wish DelaHypa would just conclude this carnival act with Pac and retire already !!

All good answers but I think Oscar will go for history AGAIN here and fight a woman!
-
Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
I seriously doubt Oscar fights Margarito. Floyd, Hatton, or even Tito are more likely.
-
Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
Women, Flyweights, and assorted people of pygmy tribes are all very reasonable projections.

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
he's gonna have to go back up a division or two coz he couldn't handle 147 anymore. lol
-
Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
I have the sneaking suspision that Oscar is going to "lose" to Manny therefore setting up a mega match Manny vs PBF which Oscar will make even more money from because he after all is a promoter these days ;D

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
Well i am not going to get on Oscar about who he faces reason being is he has done more then ten fighters put together that are fighting now. He has been champion in SFW,LW,LWW,LMW,MW then there is the fact he has beat like let me see 20 champions and faced even more. So to me say what you want and bad mouth Oscar but he owes no one anything anymore and i think he can do what he wants i have no problem with it so what i am saying is that Oscar can do what he wants and who cares i dont.

Well, Hatton would lose to DLH for sure, but it is hard to call a man a fool for taking a fight where he'll probably make $10-15 million. Maybe more. If Hatton beats Paulie, that is probably who DLH will fight next.

I agree. It is just silly how people rip on Oscar all the time about who he fights. The man has fought EVERYBODY. If he wants to be a businessman and put on the biggest events possible in the twilight of his career, I think he's earned it.

He never fought Winky. ;)

Well he did knock out the guy who beat Winky though booze Oscar done enough and faced better competion then almost anyone has or ever while.

You mean beat a guy that beat Winky by SD.
It is quite astonishing that ODLH has never fought Winky given that they were both around at the very same time and the longevitiy of the careers of both. Both at the pinnacle of boxing for quite awhile around the same weight and never fought?? I think that any excuse is merely pretextual really......

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
Depends i think Hopkins was a bigger fight dont you and lose to Vargas did not help pluse he moved up i mean to i have no idea why he did not face Winkey but not because he look bad i mean the man faced Hopkins who makes ever guy look bad to me Winkey made his names off beating guys who were not in prime at weights they did not belong at.

We both know why ODLH didn't fight Winky. The same reason why most people don't fight B-Hop. Because you won't win, and even if you do....it's gonna be ugly. Oscar is smart, he wasn't goign to do that twice. Nothing against him, I just wish people would acknowledge that he was avoided.
Foreman told Shavers why he wouldn't fight him, and I have the utmost respect for both men.
Winky just made his name off of beating guys who were in prime weights huh? Pointing to the Mosely fights I suppose and the Quartey tune up. Let me tell you this, Mosely was a good fight at any weight at the time. And Quartey is a much better tune up fight than Forbes. "Giving back to the people." Give me a break.
Let me tell you how Winky made his Name: fighting everyone, everywhere under the Sun and winning.

That was a younger version of Winky Wright who used more movement and used to exchange punches more. He hadn't perfected his style yet especially defense wise.
I thought his fight with Fernando Vargas was razor thin close, which i scored a draw Winky Wright stood toe to toe with Fernando Vargas. Which shows he isn't just a defensive fighter, he can get stuck in there and brawl.

I thought Winky won (I'm slightly biased probably) BUT he did lose on paper so i was going along for the argument........ But I don't think it really did make him less marketable as Mr. 140 would have us believe.

Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
Shane i one of my favorite fighters but the weight 154 he should not even been there to much of jump for the way he fights. Quartey had long layoff and middle weight was not for him either. Trinidad was ok at the weight but was just destoryed by Hopkins my point was not about Winkey but even with Oscar fighting Forbes still does not change that he beat more champions and had more division championships then Winkey. My whole point is he does not have to fight Winkey or Margrito if he does not want to that was the only point i was making is Oscar does not need to.

I had Winky Wright ahead by 2 points going into the 11th round i think. But then Fernando Vargas fought like a machine, in those last 2 rounds if i remember rightly he threw almost 100 punches in the last 2 rounds. And i thought based on his effort in those last 2 rounds he deserved a draw, but a very close fight that could of gone either way.
I also agree Winky Wright's close decision loss to Fernando Vargas in 1999, would of not made Winky Wright vs ODLH anymore less interesting. If i remember rightly ODLH was sitting at ringside when Shane Mosley got schooled by Winky Wright in the first fight, he could of fought Winky Wright then or when Shane Mosley lost again in the rematch.
-
Re: If Oscar is not retireing like he said he is then who will be his next opponent?
But Ice did Oscar not move up to fight Bernard instead and then after his lose i think Winky moved up to middle weight i believe. So it made the fight kinda hard to do because Oscar was not going to stay at MW he really never belonged at the weight to begain with so he went down. So he fought Mayweather and Winky i dont think could make 154 anymore i think he was having trouble making the weight but to me Mayweather and Hopkins were the bigger fights to be made and Oscar made the right choice i feel i dont think he fought guys that were not same league.
