Do recent events suggest Katsidis can't actually punch?

Graham Earl got blow away in a round again tonight, this time by Henry Castle.

It seems ironic to me that Katsidis has been built up as a monster puncher but the truth is he probaly doesn't hit much harder than Juan Diaz. He's just relentlessly aggressive and throws non stop.

He landed countless times against Casamayor but couldn't finish him, Marquez did.

He hit that Amonsot with everything for 12 rounds and couldn't stop him. He couldn't dent Juan Diaz and despite pummeling the shit out of Graham Earl for 5 rounds he couldn't get him out of there.

I'm not saying he's not a dangerous fighter, his all action style ensures he is, but I really don't think he's a big one punch guy. He's like Juan Diaz without the ring craft.

Or did JMM stop Joel because of the heavy shots he had taken off Katsidis as the same thing with Earl he took so many heavy shots from katsidis he is now done.

I think that sums it up nicely, when gets going like a tazmanian devil it's easy to see him overwhelming lower class fighters. I've never seen him blow someone out like say Miranda has.

In hindsight,I have to agree.It's his technique,Against Diaz he looked clueless in many spots.Quanity over quality ??Great personality and all the glorious guts in the world on top of primal urge to fight but not a shot by shot huge puncher.

katsidis needs doesn't seem like a heavy punching guy, but he's no sloth in the punch department either, however he needs to get a new trainer.

Recent events suggest Graham Earl is beyond shot-to-bits and shouldn't be fighting anymore. Napa would have KO'd him in 1 too.

As for Katsidis - don't think he's ever been a one punch "lights-out" hitter. But even if he was early doors, big punchers have to have the skill to land. Up in class it's obviously much harder to land as frequent and clean, plus the fighters you are hitting will normally have stronger chins, so you wont see as many one punch KO's ;)

Yeah! Katsidis always puts up aggressive yet powerless straightpunch flurries. I hope he'll change his tech...;)

if he uses his body weight (read:kinetic linking) more than his arms when he throws a punch i think he can be that 'puncher with a freakish cardio' type.just like pacquiao or arce.katsidis is built like a puncher but hes got the wrong technique.i mean,IMO there must be very little power that comes out of your fists when you walk forward and push your arms back n forth repeatedly ayt?:confused:

but i have to say he has that nice traditional mexican left hook on his arsenal.sometimes when he throws that sweet hook it kinda looks like an uppercut too.saw it on the amonzot fight.also in round 6 of the casamayor fight

You could be right Earl has never been the same since that fight his punch resistance has gone,i think its time to get out of the ring before he gets really hurt.

With the step up in class that he has done he is not going to get that one punch KO. Not sure he really ever had that type of power, but with the step up in class of fighters he is not going to land as clean any more. Plus his technique is not the best.

in my mind no doubt katsidis is a heavy puncher he took everything out of earl katsidis if he had been a bit cleverer and not come out like a mad man in the knockout round aginst casamayor would have gone onto better things, i think to be honest he is the new gatti, people wil doubt him if he loses his next fight but his power and hungryness ewill bring him back no doubt. i love him hes fantastic for the sport

Katsidis is not a knock out artist, he just throws punches and bunches, but he is no Paulie Malignaggi or a Sergio Mora either ;D if you know what I mean.

You should have just sent Taeth a PM since he watches hundreds of fights.

Yeah your right Bilbo Amir Khan destoryed Earl in 1 and Katsidis took 5 rounds while getting himself knocked down in the process. He had trouble with that flip Amonsot or however you spell his name in his American debut as well. I remember the flip getting KO'd himself in 1 too before the Katsidis fight and people expected Katsidis to walk right through him. Yet Katsidis only won a points decision. His chin ain't exactly granite either.

Katsidis was pretty much ruined in the Casamayor fight. The Diaz fight didn't help either. He will always lose to the big names
