De La Hoya
Lennox Lewis
Chris Byrd.
Winky Wright
I see Sweetpea in here he just reminded me of Pernell Whitaker, he never ducked anyone amazing resume.
Although we do this thread alot, I never get tired of it because of all the different arguments that are brought up. :D
Lennox Lewis
De La Hoya
Sugar ray Robinson.
Sven Ottke ;D
what about tito and Shane mosley
Sugar Ray Leonard and here it comes just waiting for ice to say it.
Ray leonard ducked Aaron Pryor big time. Pryor came up to one if his pressers and called him out. Leonard in his sailors out fit told him, while laughing to take a number and get at the end of the line. What a fight that could have been.
Having said that.. Aaron Pryor, Gatti (sure why not? he's fought the best), Walcott, Joe Louis, Floyd Patterson...
And Wink?? He's been duckin people for the last 3 years now. But b4, ya, he was ready for anyone.
Well i have hard time with that because he chose to fight Hearns who made use miss alot of Ray Leonards prime because of that fight.
Michael Nunn, Mike McCallum, John Mugabi, Aaron Pryor, are just a few of the fighters he avoided.
Plus he never gave Wilfredo Benitez a rematch its well known, Wilfredo Benitez only trained for like 2 weeks ? He also avoided a rematch with Thomas Hearns and only took the rematch, when he thought Thomas Hearns was shot.
Not to mention who was more worthy Pryor or Hearns at Welterweight.
ok after Benitez he fought Duran then after that fought Hearns. His eye was fucked up after the fight did not fight for sometime after. Ice how could he avoid those guys there were big but not teh names of Hearns or Duran and Nunn,Mugabi,McCallum were in higher weight classes and when they won titles Ray was not fighing. So that just silly to say ducked i am sorry Proyer never left his divsion and proved himself at welterweight that was his fault not Rays.
What about Jerry Quarry? He lost to everyone!
Lewis
Norton
Sanchez
Nelson
Hamed
Benn
Frazier
Hearns
Graham
Trinidad
Hopkins
Oscar
Robinson
Common man list is ttttooooo lllllllllllooooooooooooooonnnnngggggggggggg
Ice how would rematch Hearns they were saying he should not even fight and you saying the other names are silly they did not even win titles yet and when they did were in different weight classes so i really do not get your logic silly. Ray was out for a while and by the time he came back no way the fights were happening.
Alright Ice let me show you somthing about the fighter you say he ducked
Micheal Nunn- Won a title when Ray just came back and won his over Hagler and after that he already went after the lh and smw titles.
Mike MucCallum- just won a title when Ray retired did not fight till Hagler and when he did come back Mike MucCallum lost his title.
Donald Curry- Was fighting over and britian and Ray was fight Bentiz, Hearns and also Duran and Donald lost as well.
Aaron Pryor- Did not deserve to fight Ray Hearns deserved to he never did anything at welter or even try to that was his fault ice.
I've got one
Joe Calzaghe ;D
Markus, you blow my mind! After seeing your posts and how you get defensive on fighters you like is appaulling! Seriously...you believe Hamed never ducked Marquez?!?!
Boxingfanatics.com
This one is a long article but it says "He quickly climbed his way up the rankings with wins over Julian Wheeler, Darryl Pickney, and Agapito Sanchez, until he finally became the WBO Featherweight #1 contender. Soon, he became known as the fighter Naseem Hamed shamelessly ducked for 22 months. Tired of waiting for a crack at The Prince, Marquez moved on..."
ESPN - The champ most avoid meets king without a crown - Boxing
In this article Rafael says, "When Naseem Hamed was featherweight champ, he ducked Marquez for years, even when he became the mandatory challenger."
Hamed Under Fire | British Boxing Heroes
In this article:
Bruce Williams, writer, Boxing Update: “Juan Manuel Marquez was screwed out of his too-long-overdue mandatory with WBO feather champ Naseem Hamed, who didn’t even have the huevos to come to Puerto Rico and make his own appeal for more dispensations to seek world title unifiers.
Ivan Goldman, writer, KO Magazine: “Should Hamed ultimately forsake his WBO belt to go after another title, it won’t be because he suddenly decided the WBO belt was beneath his dignity. It will be because he’s run out of ways to duck Marquez.”
Teddy Atlas, ringside analyst, ESPN: “Juan Manuel Marquez is a very good fighter. You can tell how good he is by the way Naseem Hamed won’t fight him.”
Anymore rebuttals for this debate?
Miguel Cotto is one that hasn't been mentioned.
If im right Hamed did make Marquez a offer to fight but he turned it down or something like that.
All this Marquez talk, he also doesn't duck anyone. He wanted to fight Hamed and Morales but those fights never got made. He fought Pacquiao twice and still wants another one. He got his hands on Barrera and knocked out Casamayor. I never hear any stories of someone wanting to fight him and Marquez trying to bail.
Its a fact that SRL avoided the young upcoming fighters in the late 80s, i understand why he didn't fight them. But that isn't the point of the thread is it ? its about fighters who never ducked anyone. And clearly SRL ducked quite a few fighters along with ducking rematches against Benitez, Hearns.
What about Ricky Hatton ?
Or does Junior Twitter count against him
If Evander Holyfield would of beat Riddick Bowe in there 1st meeting, he would have fought Lennox Lewis. Evander Holyfield between 1992-1994, was too busy with wars against Riddick Bowe, and when Lennox Lewis started to get a name he was upset by Oliver McCall which set him back a few years.
Then his controversial win against Ray Mercer didn't do him any favors either, i really don't believe Evander Holyfield would of ducked Lennox Lewis. Especially since the older Lennox Lewis was a better fighter than the early 90s version.
