Just to antagonise the haters.
As we all know Calzaghe is fighting Roy Jones in a couple weeks and then we have Pacquaio against Oscar.
Now presuming Calzaghe gets the win over Jones the Ring magazine will most likely rate him as number 2 in the world behind Manny.
Now if Manny gets knocked out or loses decisively to Oscar then I guess we'll have a new p4p number 1 in the sport.
No fighter could get KO'd and remain the number 1 p4p imo even if he was moving up in weight, so he'd probably have to drop down a spot, but Oscar is hardly going to magically leap to number 1 for beating a smaller man considering he's not even in the top 10 at all at present.
So it seems a real possibility that if Joe beats Jones impressively and Oscar decisively beats Manny that Joe Calzaghe will be rated p4p the number 1 fighter in the world.
I can't wait to see the threads that would get started if that happens, and Calzaghe is officially acknowledged as the Ring p4p Champ

Pac stays P4P number 1 regardless of how he looks against Oscar. A shot, faded Roy Jones does nothing for my liking to enhance Slappy's resume.

Hmm interesting so when it comes to Manny and Joe how they perform is irelevent? If Manny gets Ko'd in 3 rounds he's still the best in the world, whereas if Joe ko's Jones in 3 it still means nothing?
So what you're saying is you like who you like and nothing is going to change that?
Nice and unbiased

RJJ isn't even in the top 20 P4P his last good performance was against John Ruiz back in 2003. And his last stoppage win was against Clinton woods in 2002. And everyone was saying RJJ should retire, so why now should Joe Calzaghe get credit for beating a fighter.
Who in his comeback fights lost 4 rounds to a blown up Welterweight Felix Trinidad who hadn't fought since 2005, also scrapped through a decision win over the mediocre Anthony Hanshaw ? answer me that.

Re: Just to antagonise the haters.
Pound for Pound, Calzaghe gets my vote as the champion I'd most like to meet in a dark alley.

Ha hA. The voice of experience. You guys never heard of that dark alley expression? Maybe that's how they cruise in England, but over here, spending time in dark alleys will likely get you mugged. OK, make it least dislike.

If I had to pick from all the champions of someone to tangle with in a dark alley, Calzaghe would be near the top. As in he'd be one of the least frightening. That's one of the reason's why Jones is taking him on. He may get slapped around a bit, but he's not likely to get hurt.
Re: Just to antagonise the haters.
Can not disagree with that. How each looks will have some thing to do with it I believe.Just don't care for p4p rankings.
Re: Just to antagonise the haters.
Calzaghe was P4P#2 behind Pac a few week back then JMM beats Joel and ends up down to P4P#3 as easy as that.
Re: Just to antagonise the haters.
Victories over Hopkins,Kessler, and Lacy speaks for itself. If Pacman is defeated I see no reason why Calzaghe shouldn't be #1 P4P.
Re: Just to antagonise the haters.
I already have Joe higher in the p4p rankings , Hes been beating unbeaten champions . Says it all

2 in 21 , the rest was predictable garbage.
Re: Just to antagonise the haters.
If your all gonna react like this then the question should be, as of this moment, who really deserves the No.2 spot.
Because either way you look at it. If Pac looses clearly, or gets stopped then he looses his P4P No.1 rating pretty much automatically.
Re: Just to antagonise the haters.
I know P4P are often hotly debated and not everyone will always agree on something.. But a question i've always thought, is who Calzaghe would have to beat to be crowned P4P number 1 and a majority of people accept it as the right decision.
I mean, there could be people out there right now that could have Calzaghe as their number 1. But for the general public to accept him as number one, and assuming he wasn't going to retire soon, who would he have to beat? How many more fights would he need to take? And do you think that it's even possible for Calzaghe to be put at number 1 before he retires at a realistic age?

agree. oscar and jones are not in the p4p rankings. even though they are both great fighters that doesnt mean if manny loses he will lose the #1 spot. and if joe beats jones that doesnt mean hes gonna get the # 1 spot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Calzaghe retiring after the Jones fight? :o
To continue in the theme of antagonizing the haters, the latest from Joe: Joe Calzaghe blast Yanks, Gives verdict on Ricky Hatton, David Haye, Roy Jones Jr and Himself.

Not really cuz he has been fighting in world class for a long time. You could say the same about Pac. Difference is Joe is still unbeaten .
