Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
I think this is going to be a really good fight and there hasnt been one mention of it to my knowledge. Both men are at a really high point in their careers and this fight really is going to determine whos going forward in their career. I believe recent performances would back Sylvester to win this fight and im backing him to win an SD in this fight.
Im looking forward to it though, and with Sergiy Dzinziruk - Joel Julio on the undercard, it looks like an unmissable night of boxing.

Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
Yeah id side with Sylvester on this one.
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
I agree that it looks like a great night of boxing and from what I gather the matchup is pretty even. But, let's maintain perspective, neither of these fighters will fight a middleweight of relevance anytime soon.
I'd love to see AA or Pavlik destroy the winner of this fight and then fight eachother in a unification bout at the end of 2009.

Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
SS to win it in a hard fought decision...
SS to win 1 or 2 of the early rounds. Sturm the middle rounds and I think SS will close out the show late and rally to win a close decision in the end by coming on strong.
and yes I want to see SS vs. AA III for the title BOTH guys really deserve it.

Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
Ahhh man...I really waited a long time for this fight or better said that Sturm finally steps it up and fights some "name"...and now that it happens I'm pretty speechless...
Besides Wacko I think I'm the only "die hard Sturm fan" here, but Felix made it harder and harder to be liked as a champ, cause he just didn't fight quality opponents...well thats a bit unfair Castillejo gives you always a fight and Griffin was mandatory(the first fight at least) and ain't that bad...As a champ Felix shouldn't have had any problems with those guys, but he did...and in between Sturm fought Alcoba and Pittman both fights totally unnecessary...
And Sylvester worked hard making a name by fighting Asikainen in two exciting fights and getting his shot at Sturms title by defeating in a pretty dominating performance Castillejo...
I'm still hoping that Sturm wins...he is the way more skilled boxer, but Sylvester is also very good at what he does...I think its 60:40 for Sturm...
Considering that both boxers really don't like each other this should be an entertaining fight...;)

Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
I'm rooting for Sylvester myself. As Johnny said, Sturm is more talented so it will not be easy for Sebastian. Sylvester though is just my type of fighter. Tough as nails and would never avoid Abraham or Pavlik. Sturm I am not so sure about.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict a late stoppage for Sylvester.

As long as Sylvester is promoted by Sauerland a fight with Abraham will never happen and who knows...if Sturm wins he and his management might get bold enough to face AA...

Re: Boxing Overdose for November 1, 2008
Sturms muscle tone has improved since the oscar fight . I bet if he looked like that back then they wouldnt have chosen him as an opponent

Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
Anyone else watching?
Ring walks at the moment. Being an all-German event both fighters received mixed emotions (loud cheers and almost louder boos) - not exactly like your usual German event :)
Atmosphere seem pretty electric though.
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
Missed the 1st, but the commentators seemed to think Sturm won that one. I had Sturm winning the second too.
Neither of them landing much, but a decent tactical scrap between two very European fighters (standing up, long jabs).
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
3rd belonged to Sylvester, who pressed the action more and landed a few good shots (left hook, one-two) as well.
30-29 Sturm.
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
After round 5, I have it 4-1 for Sturm.
I like Sylvester - he is the more entertaining of the two - but Sturm's jab owns this fight right now.
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
Round 6:
Sylvester pressing the action, but not really landing. Sturm not doing anything until the last 30, but he is the better fighter and lands the cleaner shots. Sylvester needs to open up more (or hope Sturm tires).
59-55 Stum
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
hi mikkel
is this on a live stream link?
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
Round 7:
Sturm coming forward, but incidentally that means Sylvester landing more. Action picking up. Good stuff. Sylvester pressing the action, Sturm landing in return. Great round. Sturm finishes strong!
69-64 Sturm

Nope, watching it on German tv (main channel), as we get it here in Denmark. Dunno if there are any streams

Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
okay thats cool
thanx for commentary
Sounds like a good fight
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !!
Round 8:
Best round yet. Sylvester is not giving up, coming forward and landing a few as well. Sturm still the better man though, landing at will almost. Great stuff when he finally gets going and goes after Sylvester! Cant blame a guy for being careful, but please do this more!
Sturm leading 7-1 on my card. 79-73

It's very 'European', so there might be differing opinions, but yeah I like it.
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Round 9:
Slightly less eventful round. Sturm has really brought his A-game I think, and is winning this fight easily. His round again. 8-1 Sturm and I cannot see him losing this fight.
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
MICK:
Thanks for changing title of this thread - hope I didnt dissappoint or annoy anyone by this mini-rbr?
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
thanks for the updates i have strum for a unanimous decision so keep em coming ;D
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Round 10:
A generous judge might give that one for Sylvester. God knows he needs it.
8-2 Sturm.
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Round 11:
German commentators declare that if Sturm had been this good in Vegas, he would have beaten ODLH for sure!
Kudos for Sylvester for staying in the fight, having taken quite a few clean shots and just shaken them off.
9-2 Sturm before last round
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Last round:
Sturm landing at will! Something like 12 jabs in a row! Sylvester stays up, but if this was for 15 he would not have survived.
People standing up, cheering for Sturm (no boos for him now!).
This was not that action-packed a fight, but Sturm put on a boxing clinic! Bring on Arthur Abraham!
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Dzinziruk outpoints Julio!
WBO junior middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk (36-0, 22 KOs) remained unbeaten and retained his world title for the fifth time with a unanimous decision over Joel Julio (34-2, 31 KOs) on Saturday afternoon in Oberhausen, Germany. More details to come...
-
Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Official decision:
118-110
118-110
119-109
[My card was 118-110 - and one of Sylvester's rounds could easily have gone to Sturm - so not much difference there]
Sturm retains the WBA-belt by UD.
I apologise for the very short round assesments and my complete and utter lack of mathematical skills while attempting to calculate the score during the fight. At least not that many people are following :)

Re: Felix Sturm - Sebastian Sylvester this weekend !! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
