Amir Khan spars with Pacquiao, predicts Manny victory
Popular British lightweight Amir Khan visited Manny Pacquiao at his Hollywood gym Saturday and sparred for eight rounds with the world lightweight champion, who's preparing for his Dec. 6 super fight against Oscar De La Hoya.
"Manny's in great shape -- very explosive, very fast, you don't know where his punches are coming from. He's got a good chance to beat Oscar," said Khan.
"I'm very quick, with a good jab like Oscar, and I'm taller than Manny, like Oscar," Khan told The Times on Monday in a telephone interview from Wild Card. "It'll make Manny think about what's coming."
But Khan said his first-person observations make him believe Pacquiao can compensate for his move up from lightweight (135 pounds) to the De La Hoya limit of 147.
"Manny's so sharp and quick. Speed is power," Khan said. "Manny's got a good chin to handle what Oscar throws at him. He'll just be too explosive for Oscar, and he's a big puncher himself."

Re: Amir Khan spars with Pacquiao, predicts Manny victory
Our inside sources report Amir Khan made these statements, shortly after being pulled from the canvas for the 3rd time, while Manny Pacquiao was still putting on his gloves. Amir was still not sure what happened.
"I was as ready as I have ever been" said Khan, "running just under 1% body fat."

Re: Amir Khan spars with Pacquiao, predicts Manny victory
Of course Khan is going to say good things about Manny. They train together. It's just the way things go.
Of course Khan is going to say Manny has power. Khan got sparked by two punches and was out for the count. Anyone who hits him has power!

UPDATE!!!
Source: GymWarStories.com
Sources close to us report that Amir Khan was actually only walking up the stairs of the Wild Card Gym when Pacquiao threw a punch into the air and Amirs chin caught wind of the punch and put him out for several minutes. Amir still shaken said "I think Pacs got the power to knockout a horse just like Duran" as he laid back to sleeep.

Reading between the lines I think Manny was pulling his punches.:-\

Re: Amir Khan spars with Pacquiao, predicts Manny victory
Actually, I read a few days ago in some article that either Roach or Manny was quoted as saying that Khan more than held his own with Pac. Khan even troubled Manny at first with his speed, but I guess they'd have to say that about a fighter from the same gym....
I'll see if I can find it out.

You'd expect him to hold his own. It's his chin that's the problem, not his ability.

Yeah, Amir's just like Oscar except Oscar has a chin & coming down from 154 with the ability to hurt people/knock them out, Amir's just like Oscar.

Re: Amir Khan spars with Pacquiao, predicts Manny victory
rumor is that Khan went back to england because of a dispute with Roach.I heard he was pissed-off and humiliated after a mitt-workout with roach that went from bad to worst.on the first minute of the workout he was allegedly hit by the left mittpad and was badly hurt.khan bravely rose from the knockdown but unfortunately, the left mittpad caught him on the chin again and this time he was out cold.he woke up in england.
On a recent interview,he accused the trainer of intentionally hitting him and not holding back.while Freddie Roach was quoted 'I was mimicking a left hook and he was supposed to duck under it.he was so tall I hit him right on his chin.and I really felt I cracked it the first time, you know like when you crack an egg.I was worried about my fighter.he was very brave though.he went right back up.but he was dancin like an old lady.i knew he's still hurt.so this time I was holding back on him,,you know just like when I train the women boxers here.but i was surprised I still knocked the f*ck out him when I (accidentally) hit him again...I guess he just had a bad day.he was a tough son of a gun though.I honestly think he can last for a couple of more rounds in his next fight.'

This is the same guy who said he himself could beat Floyd Mayweather

Re: Amir Khan spars with Pacquiao, predicts Manny victory
He couldn't be saying this because he is now training with Freddie Roach? No that couldn't be...

Re: Amir Khan spars with Pacquiao, predicts Manny victory
The way his Chin turns too breadsticks,do you think Khan actually has any idea that he is auditioning for his future occupation,I don't think he'll have to fear looking to tough & being sent from his sparring partner duties though :-X

another rumor is that Freddie Roach is considering to come back out of retirement.he was reportedly very impressed of himself after his 1 round devastation of Amir Khan.Dogshitboxing caught up with him at the Wild Card Gym to confirm the rumors;
Dogshitboxing: Freddie,,how you doing?
Roach: We're doin' great..I'm good.I'm a little winded from Manny's bodyshot but I've never felt better before.I felt like I'm a year younger.
Dogshitboxing: After the allegedly knockout of Amir Khan, there were speculations that you'll come out of retirement. Is it true?
Roach: Yeah I was thinking about it.I realized I got a few more fights left in me.You know..every retired boxer has that feeling from time to time. But this time it's a lot different.I mean...when I hit him with my left hand and i saw him danced like an old lady, for a while I thought I was Manny Pacquiao.I loved it.And yes I'll fight again.
Dogshitboxing: Wow.So it's really true. What did you see in you against Amir Khan that made you think you can still fight.
Roach: Well I just knocked the shiit out of him.But I knew he was a tough kid.He got knocked out once in 18 fights and I knew he wasn't a 100% on that fight. He just had a bad day against me.He'll come back.I liked him a lot. He made me realized that Parkinson's isn't much of a big deal.
Dogshitboxing: How can you say he's not in great shape against Prescott?
Roach: He told me. He said he was having hiccups when the fight started. He said it bothered him a lot. I believed him.
Dogshitboxing: Really. That's very unfortunate. So who do you plan to fight in your 1st comeback fight?
Roach: Well..there is a lot out there. I think I can fight as a lightweight. It's a very competitive division. And since Manny went up in weight,I liked it even better. I'll love to have a rematch with Amir Khan. And if Manny beats Oscar which by the way I don't think is gonna happen,I can fight Oscar. That would be the 'Dream Match II'. But if Oscar chose to retire...I'll be glad to have a trilogy with Amir Khan.
Dogshitboxing: It seems 2009 will be a great year for boxing.Any message to your fans?
Roach: Yes.I wanna thank you all for continually supporting me,Manny and the Wild Card Gym even if you can't understand a single word I say. And to all retired boxers who suffer from Parkinson's Disease..I advice you to fight Amir Khan. It is the greatest therapy. We can still pull the trigger.
Dogshitboxing: Nice. One last question Freddie. Who's gonna be your trainer for your fights?
Roach: I'd love Bernard Hopkins to be my trainer. And teach me some of those old man's moves. But i'll make it sure I won't go to the wrong corner(laughs)..While I'm considering to hire Bob Arum and Amir Khan as sparring partners. I love that kid. Or maybe I can have some rounds with a real hard hitter..Like a Paulie Malignaggi.I heard he too likes to test his power against Amir's iron chin.
Dogshitboxing: Thanks Freddie and good luck in Dec. 6 and to your planned comeback. We're looking forward for your fights.
Roach: It's a pleasure.

Re: Amir Khan spars with Pacquiao, predicts Manny victory
On a more serious note who would be a better guy to SPAR against then Amir Khan to mimic Oscar, same height, almost identical basics. Same movement, similar jab, etc, etc. Are people forgetting that this kid beat one of the best cuban fighters ever in this format? Or that he got silver in the olympic only because of that Cuban? In a pro fight I agree Khan is tofu, but put him into headgear and soft gloves and I say he beats the majority of the current belt holders in a sparring session.
