Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
This is a fight I really want to see. Mosely is a great, and though he is perhaps a little past his best, it will be a pleasure to see him try and finish off at the highest level possible.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
I'll be shouting for Shane, I'd love him to go out on top he is pure class. Maybe he can lend his balls to De La Hoya sometime in the future.

YOu and me both! Shane puts it all out there. I for one thought he was going to take care of Cotto last year. You gotta remember him chasing Cotto around the ring, unfortunately he is most dangerous when he is hurt. I think Shane has a more than a sporting chance against Marg.
THIS IS WHY MOSLEY IS A MAN AND DE LA HOYA IS A PU$$Y. GROW SOME BALLS AND FIGHT SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE CHUMP!
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
I seen this this morning on the ESPN scroller. He also fired his father again. Jan 24. 2 days after my b-day that sounds like a nice birthday gift. Let's go Mosley!!!
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
This might be the only man who can knock out Mosley :o
Although anything can happen, it should be a great fight while it last.
I would love to see Mosley win, not because I have anything against Tony, but only because I love to watch fights where the belt switches back and forth between a number of top fighters where the old cliche "styles makes fights" can be applied. I just don't see Mosley hurting Tony though and Tony is a human wrecking machine. In closing, I will put my money on Margarito but I would like to see Mosley win. ;D
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
Hell yeah.
Mosley has one of the hardest chins in the division, probably on par with Margarito. He Antonio can't wear him down, he loses. If Shane shows his age, he loses. Nonetheless, it will be a bloody mess.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
Stylistically this is everything both men want, but everything Shane shouldn't have any part of. One of the 4 "Big" welterweights (Margi, Cintron, Clottey, Williams) versus the smallest. Size alone turns this into a nightmare for the smaller Mosely.
Mosely is a brawler. A lot of people fail to see that. Mosely doesn't box from the outside or pick shots, mosely likes to bang. He's a great counter puncher but he does his best work when he's banging - all Margi does. How much of a Margi onslaught can shane take? And does shane really dish out more than cotto could?
Alot could go wrong here. In shanes favor he will utilise his clinch often, cotto only clinched twice in his fight with margi. Shane isn't a defensive wizzard. Infact, when on the retreat, Cottos defense is far superior than Shane. Shane will catch alot more leather than cotto did and will do so willingly. I don't see this ending pretty for Shane. (based on the shane we know and love.. very possible he comes to fight with a different plan on fight night though).
I do however, think this is a gorgeous match on paper because of their styles and this is going to be an incredible fight. What Shane shows up though? The shane who lets his hands go? Or the Shane who at times shies from throwing any punches and will literally stand in front of his opponent fending off pot shots.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
Once again Shane proves he is the most gutsy fighter out there . If only Floyd and Oscar were more like him .
Anyways I have the feeling this is the wrong fight stylistically for Shane . Its not the 1st time hes met the wrong guy at the wrong time but Im sure he will give a good account of himself but come a way with a points defeat
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
What I find funny though, is Shane admittedly ducked a fight with Berto. Saying he wouldn't want to fight Berto because Berto reminds him of himself in his day and it wouldn't be a good fight for him.
THEN goes and signs for a fight that's not a potential loss like Berto would be, but a potential end to his career. This is why you have to commend Mosely. He loves the tough fights.. he's so good for boxing. We need more like him.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
Mosley is the man. Always has been. That said, can Mosley employ the strategy Cotto employed the first 5 rounds for a full 12? At this stage in his career?
Mosley deserves praise, but give Margarito his daps too. If this fight comes off, he'll have fought Cintron, Cotto, and Mosley in three fights.

Props to Margarito too . They are both warriors.

Nope... mosley retreating is not possible.
He's always been a brawler.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
Dont think Shane has the legs or the reflexes for Margarito at this satge of his life.
Even in his prime Shane would have his work cut out for him due to Margarito's relentlessnes and also his hight would be a nightmare for Shane.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
I think Mosley has a good chance to win this actually.. He can brawl with the best of them, and those clubbing right hands will do their damage.. we already know they will land after seeing Cotto fire at will, even though Mosley isn't as fast, let's face it, Tony's D isn't that great.. This will be a BATTLE, and for some reason i see the Vet Mosley taking it..

Right, that is my point, I think the key to beating Margarito is moving around the ring and using your jab. Standing and trading with him hasn't worked. My point is that Mosley can't/won't employ that strategy and I don't see him hurting Margarito.

I see.
Margi has god awful defense though.. so Margi will land atleast.
I just can't wait to see what happends.. I know no matter what this is going to be a great fight. I just hope Mosley can pull it off man.

yeah, no shit-- ODLH is just tarnishing his image with Forbes and Manny fights. great point.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
Well all knows my hatred for ODLH and I think all in all, he has tarnished the game.
Having said that, Mosely is a man of unbelievable testicular fortitude. He is the shit. He is like Glen Johnson, fight anyone anytime. A real macho man. He is a man's man.
I am actually sorry Shane has taken this fight though. It will retire him badly I fear. Shane will always be one of my favorites. YOu gotta love Margarito too!! I guess if a fight against ODLH can't happen, and no one besides me wants to see Margarito/Cintron III.....then this is great.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
NO comment or prediction at all about this fight;)
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
I like Margarito but he can be out boxed and Shane could out box him as long as his old legs don't pack up on him i don't know who i will be rooting for yet im split 50/50.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
I don't think Margarito will be able to stop Mosley, so Ill go for Mosley by UD, he'll have to improve on his performance against Mayorga though.

so, you think maybe he got some false confidence (about his size and power) after the Mayorga KO?
i think the main idea here is that Sugar is becoming B-hop esque, in that he taking any big fights he can to cement his legacy, and for the money too of course.
i also think a similar point here is being made as to the RJJ comment on 24/7-- if Sugar wins, he gets the title and a significant bump in the all time p4p ratings; if he loses, he's still Sugar. for Margarito it's just the opposite- if he wins, he keeps the status quo; if he loses, his historical rating drops significantly and maybe the fans get a decent rematch out of the deal.
botom line, he can't let the guy cotto beat, beat him.

ODLH has diminished himself for the big money. (actually, i hope the thing flops.)
I would love to Margarito get a 6 round KO against ODLH- that's the fight he should have taken.
Why would you want to see Tony/Kermit III? To watch Kermit get gang raped in the shower again?

This won't be a repeat of Cotto-Margarito. Cotto showed everyone what NOT to do against Margarito. Shane will use that as a blueprint and train particularly in the things Cotto didn't do. Remember: thought Mosley is a small welter, he's fought at JMW several times against bigger guys (Winky, Oscar, Vargas & Mayorga). Oscar has a much better pedigree than Margarito and the version who last fought Mosley would be Margarito. Any version of Winky would embarrass Margarito and Vargas and Mayorga would just be good fun for everyone involved.
This will be a beautiful fight.
Mosley WILL brawl. But he will do a whole lot of what Clottey was successful with against Margarito. Being first to the punch and landing combos at will. Margarito's work-rate will be stunted and midway through the fight to maybe the 9th round he will look a little gunshy because he will be getting popped before and after every punch. Shane has a little more wisdom than Cotto and he will clinch when he needs it. Look for him to have a high work-rate because he won't be touching any weights. This is all about speed and stamina and Mosley has never had a problem with either. Look for Margarito to start KO hunting in rounds 11 and 12. I wouldn't be surprised if Mosley gets knocked down twice.

Because Kermit is a weak person who can not handle anyone that can take his shots and throw back.

Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
OH NO! I love Mosley but this is it for him. He looked old and got hit way too often against Mayorga! Margarito is a much sharper puncher than Mayorga.
At this point, Margarito cannot be stopped. You would need to land some punches and get out of there. Mosley LOVES to brawl and that will be his downfall. I could see a younger Shane with the tools and ability to pull this fight off but the Shane from his last fight would get stopped. PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG!
Hopkins beating Pavlik, if Jones beats Calzaghe, this would give Shane one hell of a motivational boost!

yea but jones has a better chance of winning than shane mosley does. but then again mosley could win it to, but happens if he does?

I think that Kelly has had his fill of the elite pugilists for awhile. ;) Like BHOP, Winky is a true disciple of the fight game.

you're right, he absolutely dominated/taunted him like they shared a prison cell, ("Kermit, you will sit when you pee. Now put this dress on.") i'm just wondering why it would be worth watching again.

yeah, but unlike Nard, the tWink couldn't out punch my 3yr old daughter... but, in fairness, she is getting better.
for the record, we are talking about a fight at 160, right? (that's the official Pavlik discussion caveat these days).

I am pretty sure the caveat will be fighting people that box like Edison Miranda. :)

Then we just gotta agree to disagree because Jermain Taylor couldn't do it at 160 and I just don't see Margarito, who isn't as good a boxer or as strong, doing it at 147. Twink, though he may be, but a better defender you'd be hard-pressed to find.
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
Mosley has the style to stop Margarito in his tracks, but the man is old.
He's not shot, but Margarito is full steam ahead.
By the way, Margarito has around two more good to great fights in him.
He's not going to be around any longer. Too much output and take.
Margarito, to stop Mosley :) Out with the old guard, in with the new. ;D
-
Re: Margarito - Mosely? -hell yeah.
Mosley is class.I favor Tony here in a grueling long fight.I think Mosley's moxie will get the better of him, sort of like he did vs.Mayorga.He found him so easy to hit that he got away from boxing....which I think he can still do well....and was loading up.Margarito is an entirly different animal.I think he push's Mosley's stamina to the limit and should go for the body...Shane has a quality chin. Not a wreckless puncher as some suggest, sheer volume and varied selection carries him through.Should be an outstanding fight.

Yeah, I know man - that was just one heck of a bad mental picture in my mind. After Margarito beat Cotto, Kermit losing to Margarito twice wasn't as surprising. You're right, he needs to stay away from AM. Kermit can punch but against AM's iron chin, it doesn't matter.

this would just be (yet anther) classic case of "that's why they fight 'em."
