A moment in the sport you were actually offended
What moment in the sport have you actually been offended by...By that I mean a moment that maybe a boxer commited some sort of foul and you could not believe that they allowed him to fight again....A fight that a promoter put on that was so one sided you can not elieve he actually stood there bold faced and tried to convince us it was a worthy bout...Maybe something the commission did not handle that outraged you..I'll start out with a few...
1. Zab Judah being allowed to ever fight again after putting his hands on Jay Nady
2. Frank Warren trying to convince us that Peter Manfredo was the top SMW challenger in the world even over making a fight with Mikkel Kessler
3. The boxing commission allowing Tommy Morrison to fight again without more extensive testing from outside medical staff

Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
I am sorry I forgot their names but I remember seeing two guys in the ring after the fight waiting for the decision. The winner went as a good sport to shake the other guy's hand and give him a hug but when he barely stretch his hand the other guy threw a sucker punch that hurt him. I mean, why get mad at the guy who won? If you didn't like the decision then go get mad at the judges or ref!
There should be a video on YouTube.

Yeah I think I know which one you mean, he only had his hand wraps on when he hit him too?
Out of Daxx's 3 I would say the Tommy Morrison thing.

Its on the "Shame" thread page 1 or 2?James Butler hits/KO's Richard Grant in front of 500 + police and is promptly handcuffed and marched out of the arena. What an arse.
Also any commission's that allow Oscar Larios to continue in his face first career,as he can not pass physicals in the U.S so he fights in Mexico and over sea's.This could be a long thread

Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
To be honest, the one thing ive been most offended over was when the english crowd booed the aussie national anthem when kostya fought hatton. No respect for such a respectful man and also who does that? The English crowd is currently the only nation in boxing universe that seems to think booing a national anthem is cool. I swear if i had been in the crowd at that fight, you would of seen a brawl in the crowd. Would of punched some cunt in the face for sure ;D

That was James 'The Harlem Hammer' Butler.
The guy is now doing life for murdering the brother of HBO commentator Max Kellerman.
Tragedy that, Butler is a loon and Sam Kellerman did everything to help him in his career.

That would have to be number one for me too.
How about Tyson eating evanders ear and being allowed to fight again.
Thats was the worst thing I have ever seen as far as a foul.
What about Golatas intentional low blows to Bowe . That was an awesome heavywheight fight until then.

Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
The blatent robberies by judges always get to me the most, its like all of one teams hard work is for nothing but the lining of someones corrupt pockets or maybe a set up for more money and a bigger fight for the chosen camp.

Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
Ok going quickly here off the top of my head...
- Very recently, not only was I offended but I was disgusted with what happened to Andrade in Canada. Whoever can't see that Marlon did everything in his power to favor and give adv. to Bute is fucken blind. Nothing to do with Bute and ALL to do with Marlon.
- Armando Muniz being robbed of the titles when he beat Napoles, scumbag Sulaiman flat out turned and changed the rules right there and then and awarded the win to Napoles.
- When I 1st found out that the Florida commision failed to collect Pryors urine sample for drug testing after the 1st Arguello fight.
- When I 1st found out that Ayala had shot up heroin prioir to his fight vs. Danny Lopez. I was fucken disgusted...
- When I 1st found out about what Panama Lewis did to Restos glove on that tragic night in MSG when Resto fought Collins Jr.
- When they've announced the scorecards in robberies (I genuinely mean robberies, I'm talking about fights that were close and could have gone either way).
Ortiz-Diaz
Santa-Casa
Navarro-Gainer
- I've been offended by PongsaShit WontBoxAnyoneImportantJongkam he is the king of fighting mismatched opponents.
I mean this guy was for years defending his title and the list of his opponents is horrible for a title holder.
In title fights:
Hayato Asai 16-2
Luis Alberto Lazarte 19-4-1 (Coming off 2 loses and 1 draw)
Jesus Martinez 15-2 (Coming off 2 loses)
Randy Mangubat 37-17-11 (Coming off a loss)
Trash Nakanuma 23-4 (Coming off 2 loses)
Luis Angel Martinez 14-6-2
Noriyuki Komatsu 19-1-5 (Coming off a loss)
Daigo Nakahiro 13-1 (Coming off a loss)
Everardo Morales 27-10-2
Tomonobu Shimizu 10-1
Non title bouts:
PongsaShit 63-2 vs. Lito Sisnorio 10-4-1 (Fight was NOT sanctioned/approved Lito died in his next fight)
PongsaShit 67-3-1 vs. Mohammed Akbar 0-2-0 :o that's just horrible
PongsaShit 66-3-1 vs. Jack Amisa 17-3
PongsaShit 58-2 vs. Isidro Balabat 5-3

Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
Well if we're going to talk about guys who fight easybeats, lets look at Anthony Mundine's last 7 opponents:-
Crazy Kim
Sam Soliman (who whom he'd beaten twice previously, the most recent time by KO)
Nader Hamdan (a good mate of his)
Jose Alberto Clavero
Pablo Daniel Zamora Nievas
Sam Soliman
Rueben Eduardo Acosta
On Wednesday he'll fight Rafael Sosa Pintos, a guy who'se last two fights were 6 round decision victories. Yep, Mundine is fighting a guy who's last two fight were six rounders.
Of all those fights I'm pleased to say the only one I saw was the Soliman KO. People need to boycott this guy until he fights somebody with a pulse and not. At this stage the only criteria to get a fight with Mundine is that you own a pair of trunks and gloves...

Was he an addict at the time? I guess he must've been, or it must've been a very small amount, 'cause it would goddamn near impossible to box while high on heroin.

Yes, he was both he and his brother Tony Ayala Jr. have gone on record and admitted to shooting up.
Tony Ayala Jr did it on at least 3 occasions.

Tony Ayala Jr aka. El Torito aka. Baby Bull was a top contender in the ealy 80s. From the start of his career he was labeled as the Next Big Thing racking up impressive wins in devastating fashion. Everyone in the industry at that time was highly impressed with his skill set and the way he fought int he ring. He was just getting high praises because he was so young and talented.
Behind all that there was a demon. At one point in a fight after knocking down his opponent he spit on him. Talk about a ruthless muthafucker...
In 1983 I believe he was on heroin and just spacing out on the drug when he entered to rob the house of his female neighbor and he raped her. He was sentenced to some jail time and served the term think he was 18 at the time.
Def. one of the biggest wastes of talent along with Ibeabuchi, Bojado and "Maestrito" Lopez.

Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
Hatton v Mayweather i was in the crowd that night when alot of English booed.Although it never offended me it was embarrassing that they booed the nation anthem and it offended alot of people.
I will not be surprised if the same idiots do it again when Ricky fights Paulie.

Did he win that fight while on Heroin ? Cause wow thats like fighting two things right there.
Coke yeah thats going to help you do masterful stuff Like Maradonna etc but Heroin .

Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
The booing of ANY national anthem for sure. It really doesn't offend me but it surely disappoints me to see it. these warriors from different parts of the world are representing where they come from. you should be applauding the fact that we get to see these fights. imagine just seeing fighters from their respective countries fighting only fighters from that same country. Sucks!!! so yeah, the booing of anthems disappoints me
-
Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
Riddick Bowe throwing his belt in the bin rather than fight Lewis. A cowardly act by a so called heavyweight champion who was obviously too shit scared to face someone he thought had his number.
-
Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
I havent been offended by fighters really. The guy who hit Golota with a phone was a prick. The Reid Ottke ref, the guy who rang the bell half way into the round, Jay Nady sucking Mayweather off before the Baldomir fight, Nadys handling of Jones/Ruiz and barerra/Marques. Joe Cortez in the Hatton/Mayweather and Hopkins/Calzaghe and Soto/Lorenzo.
-
Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
Off the top of my head:
-Joe Cortez' latest debockles.
-Zab Judah's reactions to the Tszyu knockout and the low blow on Mayweather.
-I don't know if this counts but I think Vic's reaction after Donaire knocked him silly was classless.
-Mayweather and the beating he put on Gatti. If anyone puts that kind of hurting on another person, he should be jailed! (This is obviously a joke)
-
Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
Joe Cortez showing bias against UK fighters in favour of his US friends.
He let Bernard Hopkins hold, snuggle and do what he wanted all night long against Calzaghe. He even let him roll round on the floor for a number of minutes while taking no action
He constantly broke Ricky Hatton up when he tried to fight inside agaisnt Mayweather. He also gave him a bullshit point deduction when a punch never even landed. All so he could get a picture with Floyd after the fight
Shame on you Joe, don't ever think of coming to the UK :-X

Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
I find it offensive when a boxer blatantly disrespects his opponent in the ring, especially when he is cleaning his clock at the same time. Prime example was Jones - Ruiz. I really hated that hot dog after that.
-
Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
for me its when ever Calzaghe's hand is raised.
-
Re: A moment in the sport you were actually offended
Tyson biting Holyfield!
Judah laying his hands on a referee.
The judging debacle in the Jones Jr olympics travesty.
And finally the Drago vs Creed fight being allowed to continue after Drago clearly throws the referee out of the way lol.

Yes this should have resulted in Tyson being throw back in jail.

CutMeMick,
There are many Asian fighters that go through the same and I hate it. When I was finishing college in Japan I remember Mexicans coming over to fight and sitting down with my friends. After every fight they would go "Oh, we thought Mexico was good in boxing but they always loose against us...". I would keep asking myself why bigger Mexican names didn't come to Japan or why didn't Japanese go fight in Las Vegas against REAL Mexican opponents.
Mike Tyson being sent to jail for "rape". Ok, many people will think the Desiree Washington (was that her name?) was a complete innocent little victim. I mean, when it comes to rape, people automatically assume the girl is saying the truth. But, what is a girl doing walking up to a guy's suite at the late hours of the night with a skimpee negligee, bottle of champagne in the room, they made out and even had foreplay, etc. Even if the girl was riding Tyson as if there was no tomorrow if she even whispered the word "No", she technically wins the case?! That girl had dollar signs on her eyes as she walked to his suite. If he didn't go to jail we would have seen a prime Tyson vs Holyfield and prime Tyson vs Lewis, which I think would have been a different outcome than what we saw way after his prime.

3. The boxing commission allowing Tommy Morrison to fight again without more extensive testing from outside medical staff[/quote]
The Morrison fight explains one of the weird things about boxing in a nutshell.
Theres no real overseeing governing body
All you have to do is wait out your suspension, and then you can find a spot that will give you liscence
