:badass::badass::badass:
Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
Carl Froch if he wins in a couple of weeks.
Will be MASSIVE in the UK.
Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
Jermain Taylor
Chad Dawson
Kelly Pavlik
Bernard Hopkins 2
Tavoris Cloud = If he can win a belt within a year.
Carl Froch = If he wins against Jean Pascal.
Mikkel Kessler 2
Lucian Bute
Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
If Calzaghe did something crazy like fight David Haye at Heavyweight he would go down in the 1st as he likes to do now days and he wouldn't get up as Fenster would say FACT. Lol;D
Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
Seriously tho ... Chad would be the obvious one out there for me ... more so than Hopkins or any other re match for that matter, as he is an opponent that JC hasnt faced and undefeated too ... but I really dont think Dawson has enough tools at this stage to cope with JC,:beerchug:

Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
If Joe did stick around how long should he stick around for? 1 year or 4 more fights go for 50-0?

I think the way it looks with David Haye that it dont matter who he hits ... if he connects correctly they will really struggle to get up ... & like you said earlier which I fully agree with had Haye hit Barrett with a clean shot he woulda knocked him spark out.

I think JC needs to be out of the ring inside the next 12 months at the latest & I would have no argument with him retiring now ... but mabe as leftylee says Carl Froch is another potentially good fight out there ... Im personally not a big Carl Froch fan but the guy has so far done the job when asked of him & ya cant knock that ...
But the biggest factor that will affect whether or not JC fights again, & or who the opponent is, is the money.

Yeah .. agree with ya Bud ... Id not thought of it as a fan of JC but Froch at the millenium would be a great night to bow out..& as you say, a good payday too.

:badass::badass::badass:
He could make millions in the states if he fought Hopkins again and also make millions vs Dawson HBO wanted it
Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
Id personally want to see the Kessler rematch,it came out, and was pretty apparant watching it, his hand was hurt,Id like to watch it with both of them healthy.
I didnt know who was going to win going in, and finding out Kessler's one paw was hurt, I really dont know who would win.
Makes better drama.
Hopkins-Calzeghe you probably get a similar fight, with the decision going 30 different ways with thirty different judging crews
Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
But if its to be his last fight (who knowes) surely he would prefer home soil for himself & the fans too ... also why not Dawson at the Millenium instead of the states,
But then ya getting into which fight generates the most money out there for JC would Froch generate more money or is that just a Britt thing ???

I hear what ya saying bud & from a fight fan perspective couldnt agree more, but JC has gone on record as saying he aint interested in re matches at this stage of his career .. so mabe we have to look outside that to the Dawsons & Froch's out there...

Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
Yes, but maybe it is worth it for Calzaghe if he can get another huge payday: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe's huge earnings for Roy Jones Jr fight revealed!

With Dawson and Froch, I also dont know if I can stand another Frank Warren negotiation.
Kessler at least agree's pretty readily, and I find that fight way more interesting. Of the fights Joe had recently I thought that was the most intriguing, the other one's more or less went as I expected. I still dont know what a healthy Kessler would do with him.
Froch and Dawson will be a bigger fight to get the fight then the fight. Dawson's too dangerous and not well enough known, Froch Id bet Joe schools and wins on points.
Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
...just retire, no more overhyped matches with old men. Joe's done what he's wanted, there no one he can beat that will gain him any more respect than he already has his quest to be a great as his wants has already passed, if anything go home and end it there give the hometown fans a last show.

Given how much money he made against RJJ, and assuming Froch beats Pascal, Calzaghe should fight the winner of one or two of the following matches: Taylor and Froch, Pavlik and Abraham, or Dawson and Erdei. Additionally, to reap the most coin, he should fight in Wales/London.
Of course, this is assuming he fights again. Retiring may also be his best option.
Re: Calzaghe: who is left?
I don't know maybe a young prime fighter? Nah, theres no more people to fight....
