Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
Enzo is taking on a pretty tough opponent after being blown out of the water by David Haye.
Banks is trained by Stewart and is 20-0 with 14 knockouts. He's also Mac's height.
Is he too green to beat Mac? What are people's takes?
I couldn't find much video on Banks, but: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8wMZMDaSTU .

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
people are making to big a deal about the haye fight, there was a lot more going on outside the ring that was kept quiet because no one wanted to make excuses.
Enzo will spark banks out, 4 rounds tops.

Thats his aim at some point. But he would need time to get his weight to that point without rushing it. He walks around at around 185. He could make LHW if he really wanted.

So, what was going on that was out of the public's eye?
To clean out the cruiserweight division, Enzo needs to go through Cunningham or Ademak. I don't see that happening. At least not easily.

Never heard of Banks if I'm honest but it looks like a good fight to get back in the mix for Enzo.

Help me out a little bit and translate "don't tell us he was out on the piss again." You can blame it on my dumb Yankee arse', but I don't know what means.

Your Welsh bias is a load of shitt.
Your boy got KNFO by Haye because he is shitt.
But he beats Banks who is merely a contender. Big wow. Fukk Enzo.

When Enzo was knocked out earlier in his career, to Brit journeyman Lee Swaby, it was supposedly because he was out drunk (on alcohol) the night before. That's the excuse.
Obviously theres also an EXCUSE for losing to Haye (a fighter CLEARLY much better than him)

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
Banks was not all that impressive on the Wlad undercard, in fact Rossitto could have easily got the decision. He'll need to improve his stamina to beat Enzo.
Neither of these guys will clean out Cruiser IMO.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
Banks wins by UD or stoppage.
Enzo is just more Enzo Calzaghe hype....he's not good AT ALL and the sooner you hot tea drinking sissyfied wusses realize it the better ;)
I think Banks is an ok fighter, he may do well in the heavyweight division when he's not going to be weight drained.....only problem he's not that tall, and he's not that big, and the division is currently dominated by very big and very good fighters albeit none of you guys want to admit how good the Klitschko's are but I figure you'll find out once all that's left of Haye is a slimey spot on a canvas somewhere in England ;D

Does Vitali's ring-peice taste the same as Wlads?
Just curious

He looked like he was on the piss when he got up after being knocked down.

As neither of them are in this fight I fail to see why they would even matter in this match up.
Manny might train Jon Banks but hell the guy is fighting this dude....

....surely can't instill much hope in you

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
rrrrrright....so is the goofy looking white dude who got KTFO in the vid I posted NOT Enzo Maccarinelli????? Because if it isn't him then I will retract all my statements but if it IS him then please explain how THAT will beat Jon Banks
-
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
I went with Macca by KO...
Banks spends too much time staring at his opponents and watching them go to work. I expect Macca to be explosive fromt he start and get a KO mid rounds.

Thats a bit harsh as a generalisation of Brits , but anyway Banks is Hype , as is Enzo , i went for Banks by KO , but i dont really care either way , as for Enzo ever being a HW , thats not going to happen with any success hes to small with a glass jaw.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
Cant really comment on this fight i havent seen Banks, but Enzo has fought one world class fighter and was smashed up and for whoever said he will clean the division up, please!! Cunningham would school him with ease, before anyone says Braithwaite was world class, he had not fought for a very longtime and was finished.

That is just one fight, and the occasion really got to him, and considering Banks ain't much himself anything could happen.
Saying that, even though i'm a fan of Enzo, he isn't world class and definitely chinny, and cou-ple that with being not to hard to hit. It should be an entertaining fight while it lasts.

I like Enzo. I think he's quite limited....but he lays it on the line and he has power. He's a nice guy. I think he's got further than his talent should have allowed him....and that's probably testament to Frank Warren and Enzo Calzaghe.
I think he'll win this one. Purely because i'm not impressed with Banks. Maybe Banks is just weight-drained at Cruiser. Unfortunately this fight is at Cruiser.....so good luck to him ;D

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
haha how can you say anything about drinking hot tea?? all you yankies bang on about is drinking ICE TEA?????? Give me a break!!
-
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
Wow. Lyle laid the bait and a lotta guys jumped at it. If we moaned about it every time you called us yanks we'd look like the biggest babies. He said you drink tea. So what?
As for Banks: I've seen him a few times and he's a good boxer with some pop, but he is a little slow. For Enzo to win he'll have to jump on him, knock him down a few times and hope the ref stops it. But Banks has a decent chin and can start fresh even after a knockdown. He stays calm, punches accurately and punches hard. If Haye sparked him in 2, Banks can easily do that in 4.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
banks has heart i remember he was on espn he was young and he was knock down twice and look done against he came back to win by ko
and i think he beats enzo by ko

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
Let's also add that Banks has THE best sparring partner: Wlad Klitschko. He's learned immensely in a short amount of time.
-
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
Neither guys that special really, both can punch a bit, both seem chinny, neither is that skilled. I guess I'd go with Enzo maybe. It could be a good fight cause of how vulnerable they are.
Changed my mind, I'll go with Banks.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
Enzo's confidence shattered......no warm up fight.....Enzo should have had a warm up fight
Job Biscuit (Don't rate Banks...but Enzo has had it)!!!!
eh eh!!
-
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
I saw Banks vs Castillo whe Castillo was 20-1. Banks got decked twice in the first round, but came roaring back to ko Castillio in the 4rth. He showed incredible heart in that one. Stewart raves about him (of course, he raves about all of his fighters).

Jonathon Banks KO's him i've seen few fights of his, and he's got heart. Decent handspeed and he packs a punch.
Gets decked here twice heavily.

Then comesback and does this.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v. Jonathon Banks on 12/06/08
If anything Banks did show pretty good instincts that first round, some guys don't know what to do first time they really get hurt but Banks held on pretty well.
Both chinny, both can punch, a shame it probably won't be on TV here.
