This how Dirty Politics Work
Insinuation
Note in this article, they make it sound like he owns the place, not renting it. Thats why the 4$million tag is repeatedly mentioned, the fact that he's only renting it for a family vacation is glossed right over.
Renting a pad like that, for the weekend, should be well within a US Senators price tag
But it doesnt read like that does it?

It was such a BS insinuation article I had to point it out.
Because as your sitting there right now, some moron republican is going to start bitching about Joe Bidens 4 million dollar mansion within the next week or so.

Palin probably made more on her tax abatement when she sold her property then that place costs to rent for five years

Another one for the haves vs the have nots.

Re: This how Dirty Politics Work
....same people made a big fuss over Palin's clothes and there wasn't anything wrong with that although some jack asses think that taxpayers paid for her clothes now while that may be true in that the people who gave money to the GOP to spend as they saw fit pay taxes, the money used was not tax payer money in the since that it could have been used to build bridges or buy school books.
But that's the way the media catches your attention and sells magazines and gets people to watch their programs or read their websites.

But Lyle there was something wrong with that. Palin was spending money on clothes she wasn't supposed to. The guy who was paying for them was shocked when he got the bill. Now that isn't a Republican/Democrat thing, that's just somebody turning into a diva and doing whatever she wanted to do.
The fact that more money was spent on her clothes than what they paid their foreign policy advisor, while bad, is really just their business.

It's like you should start reading things twice before you post shit like this...
1. In this statement, you say: "Note in this article, they make it sound like he owns the place, not renting it." Point to a place in the article that backs up what you're saying, because the article mentions twice that he's renting it, and then goes on to call it a "pricey vacation"... but no where is an implication of ownership. The article even cites the owner.
2. "Thats why the 4$million tag is repeatedly mentioned"... It's mentioned ONE TIME in the article. ONE TIME.
3. "the fact that he's only renting it for a family vacation is glossed right over." THERE ARE THIRTEEN PARAGRAPHS IN THIS STORY. FIVE OF THEM CONTAIN TOPIC SENTENCES THAT SAY THANKSGIVING OR VACATION.
4. "Renting a pad like that, for the weekend, should be well within a US Senators price tag..." Probably, but not the point of the article.
5. "But it doesnt read like that does it?" No it doesn't. But that's not the point of the article, the point is that he portrayed himself as a "working class hero" and "average joe" when in fact he's someone who vacations at the same place a lot of the wealthy elite vacation.
It's just another article pointing out how politicians get elected on deception, and I have no idea why it got under your skin so bad.

But again, when I got the article,it was bundled with a collection of other articles from NewsMax(yes I get NewsMax bulletins),more then half of the people who get those bulletins are only going to skim the headlines. Creating an unfair and untrue image. Since it was from NewsMax I allready doubt the veracity of the story itself, but how many other people arent even going to open the article to read it? And just assume the banner headline is factual? And if the story gets any traction, how soon until its being bloaviated about by Rush,Hannity, and Oreilly.
There's a great book on the subject of insinuation by David Brock "The Right Wing Noise Machine" if you know what your looking for, you can actually watch it function. It gets kind of obvious.
First a fringe place like NewsMax or the dearly departed Talon puts up the story(sort of like the National Enquirer for the right wing) then Limbloat and Hannity start barking about it,now even though there wasnt a real story in the first place, the national media pick up on the story so they dont seem "liberal biased",next thing you know, there's a public impression. But then you go back and track the story, and it wasnt true in the first place. But too late, now the public knows its true.
Did Al Gore claim he created the internet? No he took credit for pushing for funding for the military Eathernet, which would become the basis for the internet.
Did Al Gore claim he created the Superfund? No actually the often misquoted speach gives credit to a girl from Tennessee for alerting him to the toxic waste dumps in this country,He did chair the initial Superfund congressional hearings
Did John Kerry act in dereliction of duty in Vietnam. Well according to everyone who was actually there, he acted quite heroicly
Is Barrack Obama a secret muslim? No actually he's a christian whose mother is a white woman from Kansas.
But what did you actually think the awnsers were, planting that little seed in your head cost someone a whole lot of money.

Lyle. There was one SPECIFIC person who was paying for Palin's wardrobe. One. So I stated THE GUY. When HE received the bill for Palin's wardrobe he was appalled. It was much more than he expected. Did you just gloss over the next sentence? Just cut the bi-partisan bullshit for 2 seconds and realize what was being written. I wasn't blasting Republicans in the least; it was aimed at one specific person who just so happens to be Republican who it turns out is also a bit of a diva.
Also, Palin was charging clothes to the credit cards of her minders. It got back to McCain and Co. after they submitted expenses for reimbursement for the clothes they bought for her.

]This is a problem with the entire news media. Blame the public for letting them continue to do it.
]Al Gore is more a victim of Saturday Night Live than any Republican noise maker.
]John Kerry is a patriot and I voted for him in 2004. It was funny, immediately after the elect it was suddenly "found out" that his service was credible.
]"Barry" Obama has plenty of ties to Islam, namely his association with Khalid al-Mansour and the fact that he was educated as a Muslim, and his immediate family was Muslim, his mother married two Muslim men, and didn't become a Christian until he was in his early 20's. And don't get me started on what type of "Christianity" he decided to follow... he and Mitt Romney were both terrible choices just based on their associations with either radical or just completely crazy religious practices/theology.
Is Obama a practicing Muslim right now? No idea, but it's impossible to seperate him from Islam.

I should add here,he war raised catholic and ended up settling on a version of protestantism which last I checked would encompass 99.9 percent of our past presidents, barring Richard Nixon (a Quaker, well sort of) and John Kennedy(a Catholic)

OK Killface who was the ONE GUY flipping the bill for her?
And don't think I like Palin, I don't...I just think too much was made out of her clothes and McCain's age.....meanwhile NOTHING came up about Joe Biden's health issues.
As for Obama the issue I have with him is the company he keeps.
I also like how nobody batted an eye when Al Sharpton called Condaleeza Rice and Colin Powell "house negros" but when Sheik what's his face called Obama a "House Negro" everyone was up in arms....INCLUDING AL SHARPTON!!!!!

Funny,I forgot to even hear about, let alone get my arms up about the Sheik whats his name story.
And thats odd, because I check the AP and Reutars wire daily.

Re: This how Dirty Politics Work
As for the clothes thing, I think that once the story came out there was a bit of damage control done, the final story was probably a little different than what actually happened.
One guy I had to chuckle at was Jesse Jackson and his comment about cutting Obama's nuts off. It was good to see Obama rise above that comment. Reminded me of the time when Jackson was running for the Democratic nomination some years back, and he refered to New York as hymie town. Blew himself right out of the water. All that being said, Jackson is a good guy as politicians go, if it weren't for his apparent inability to keep his mouth shut, he might have really got somewhere.

Don't know his name, Lyle, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a guy. Individuals donate specific things to campaigns all the time. Considering McCain was hurting for cash and Palin needed an image makeover I think it's hardly surprising that someone paid for her clothes. Sure the Palin thing is overblown, but didn't she help by feeding that particular monster? At the end of the day I'd say she was more a hinderance than a help because of her antics. And no one has made a big deal over Biden's health issues because he'll be the VP. Obama's not about to keel over any time soon of any natural cause so the likelihood of Biden being tapped for POTUS is slim to none.
And I think I've said it before, but it bears repeating: Al Sharpton does not speak for me or ANYONE else in the black community. The guy needs to pay his hotel bills and apologize for the Tawana Brawley and Duke Lacrosse team scandals he contributed to before I acknowledge him as a viable human being. As it stands he's an ass clown; can you really fault the media for not holding an ass clown's feet to the fire?

I gotta disagree. Obama is a lot more palatable than Jesse Jackson. Jackson is a marble mouth of dubious pedigree while Obama is very well spoken with a degree from a prestigious university. Even if Jackson was the nicest guy on earth, his command of the English language would have kept him out of office. I have no doubt he's an intelligent person, but when you speak the language like it's your second language you won't get elected.

I saw something where there was an article about Mr. and Mrs. Obama having lobster at a party. It was portrayed the same way; a look-how-extravagant-and-out-of-touch-they-are-with-the-common-man type article.
All I care to comment on that is that it must have been a really, really slow news day. Same with the article above.

Arab Term of Endearment, yeah right. :D
Frankly, I kinda think at this point that Al Quaida prefers a guy like Bush or McCain to Obama, they (McCain & Bush) are more likely to continue to try and defeat a concept (movement?) militarily.

Actually you have point
The greatest thing that ever happened for Al Queda recruitment was the Bush administration.

Probably, but lets not forget that BL declared war under the Clinton Administration. I was thinking mostly about IRAQ. I think AQ is probably content to let something like IRAQ drag on, it gives them a convenient battleground for jihad. I don't think they particularly give a damn about whether that's good for your average Iraqi.

Come to think of it,we dont either, first thing we got back up and running was the Oil ministry, and thats the first place we stationed troops.
And officially the whole hissy fit started under Bush 1, it was the basing rights that we negotiated out of GW1 in Saudi Arabia that put such a hustle in Bin Forgotten's bustle.
But honestly, all Al Queda has to do is mention Abu Ghraib and they pick up 10 members

As to whether or not US cares about what happens to the average Iraqi, that's not something I intend to address. As for getting the oil ministry running, well yeah, I think they wanted IRAQ to have some kind of infrastructure, maybe even some income of its own.
Interesting to note that infrastructure (OIL, water sewers) is one thing that US kept trying to build up, and the insurgency (maybe AQ, maybe not) kept trying to destroy, at least in the early days, I'm not too sure what's happening in that regard now.

I don't think that says anything about their feelings for the IRAQI people.

The last things we checked on,was running water and re-establishing a viable power grid for the country.
People whove just had their house vaporized by an errant Patriot missile tend to notice those type of things.
Iraq has been nothing if not a huge recruitment tool for Al-Queda

OK, you wanna blame it on the Republicans? Shit, if it wasn't BinLaden it'd be someone else. I ain't saying anything about whether or not the US was justified, but Clinton sent cruise missiles into Sudan and Afghanistan. The suicide bombing of the Marine Barracks in Lebanon, that was under Reagan's watch. Then there was Jimmy Carter and the Iran hostages. I seem to recall during the Nixon days watching processions of white robed dudes on TV, whacking themselves bloody with chains and two by fours, chanting death to the great satan. The Democrats ran the show in 1947. How far back do you want to go?

Oh Jimmy Carter totally boned Iran,it sounds like such a simple thing, but letting the Shah in to the US for cancer treatment was a total screw up.
