We should bring back the cool clicks

I am sure this has been said before, but it hasn't been said lately. I think we should go back to the old cool click/ sad click model.

I did like the Reps at first, but they have gotten way too high and they just seem like meaningless numbers.

Someone can have 38343494937 in reps when in the past, they would have been 33/6 which is much easier to follow and sort-of resembles a boxing record.

I also miss the ananimity of sad clicking someone for saying something stupid. Now I restrain from sad clicking because I dont want the person to hate me.

Of course this wise old hobbit got on his stool and tried to plead with the rest of Saddo's about the long term problems of this new system but he was beaten down, rejected and despised.

I created several excellent threads none of which were taken seriously and nobody supported my cause.

But the coolclick model was far better this new system is nothing more than a weekly popularity contest.

Just have a look at the member ratings for rep count and watch it change every week. Legion was top until a couple weeks ago, now he's about 11th. Spicoli is at number 1 with Diane second whilst the previous leader Mick has dropped to third.

I havn't posted much this past couple weeks and so have dropped from 4th to about 20th.

Kingfynk is on a charge up the board and if someone else joins today and posts regularly they can look forward to being in the top 10 by the new year.

Just that the rep points thing is useless mate. Because the inflatory nature of it our rep totals double every 3 weeks or so meaning that all the rep a person has accumulated in their entire time on this board (several years for some of us) will be double in just over a fortnight.

So in theory if the most respected longstanding poster on the board for example CutMeMick went away for a month and a new poster joined the day he left and posted prolifically like a prime ICB they could acrue same rep total in one month that it took CutMeMick 4 years to achieve.

So in other words the rep table only reflects the last month and nothing more, it's meaningless.

Whereas coolclicks were earned one at a time, and you had to be here a long time and make a lot of quality posts to have a decent coolclick ratio.

Back in the day Wacko had over a 1000 more coolclicks than anyone else, it would have taken about 2 years for even the second placed person to catch him and that only if Wack's didn't get any more coolclicks at all in those two years.

Now look at him, under the new system he's 108th on the ratings most respected board between leggy and beanflicker.


The highest reputation status you can achieve on this board is as follows

'Don't mess with this user you will get ktfo, too powerful and full of class'


Currently only 408 members have managed to reach this highest accolade, including most impressively Ready To Rumble, who did it with just 3 posts, the quality of which must have been simply amazing :o


It's not the system itself, the idea of giving rep is ok, it's the fact that your punch power increases leads to the system being spectacularly nerfed in this way.

I hate to use such geeky internet lingo, but in the words of a cyber nerd it's been an 'epic fail'.

i agree.. i mean i don't care if we go back to the cool click system or whatever, but it's all meaningless now.. i've given up on even looking at how much rep i have because the only way to keep up your rep is to keep repping others.. then they see you repped them and they rep you back blah blah.. at least before it was anonymous unless someone said "CC"..

ahhh. well i can care less about rep. i wasnt here for the Cool Clicks but how can they be any different??

I prefer the CC system. Bilbo makes some valid points, the system we have now has its flaws. The one at a time CC kept things real. This rep system just deals in silly numbers that do not reflect upon a poster accurately IMO.

That's purely speculation but probable. I like that you can say why you give rep or bad rep, although I very rarely say why I'm giving rep, I think I'm pretty much alone on that though. I like the option. And I like that you can see who gave it to you. Other than that the cool click system worked better (except for the slight embarrassment of having to say "here's a cool click" although technically "here's some rep, as in reputation guy" probably isn't much better.) but not so much better that its a big deal.

Actually I see no contradiction. I am not against gays whatosever. They can do whatever they want to do. I just object to gay marriage because marriage in the uk and us is a religious ceremony conducted with a Christian framework and the Christian Bible says homosexaulity is wrong and that two people of the same sex cannot be married.

It's not my opinion it's what the Bible says and therefore you cannot force Christian ministers and belivers to change it.

I would argue exactly the same if they tried to get the Bible changed to say that sex outside of marriage is ok. According to the Bible it is not. Even though I do and will continue to have sex outside of marriage I would still absolutely 100 per cent be against any movemenent that sought to eradicate that commandment from the Bible.

There are many things that I do and will continue to do that are either against Christianity or technically illegal (only minor like pirating films and videoing my neighbours) but I still recognise that by the ruling of state law these are illegal.
