NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?

Chris has great power and could be trouble for Wlad but his defense is horrible and chin is suspect...Tony Thompson rocked him....Unless Chris catches Wlad early and hurts him bad he is going to get slaughtered
It will be exciting while, it last though

Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Arreola has never fought Thompson, unless you mean he rocked Wlad, if he did I missed that
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
I don't get hyped about too many HW matches anymore. But I'd make an exception for this one. In the end, Wlad would be too much for the inexperienced and "defense-challenged" Arreola, however.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Too much too soon for Arreola, he isnt ready for that kind of action
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
If Arreola doesn't take things more seriously he'll never be ready for it, maybe this will get him motivated to get in better shape.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Of all the hyped recent heavyweights Arreola is the most overrated, I don't even place him anywhere near Sam Peter's caliber... he doesn't belong in the same ring as Wlad. Povetkin is a much better prospect, but at least this will give him one more fight to develop his skills, but honestly I think Wlad is on a different level than any other heavyweight excluding his brother.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Sounds like Arreola's sink or swim moment....or float.I liked him early on,his face to the wall style makes for exciting TV but I think he is as developed as he is going to get.Showed some small adjustments but is living fight by fight "Oh well" and seems just content with that?
If he waits on the outside in the 1st round like he did vs.Walker,Wlad will cover the floor with him, needs to bum rush Wlad and look to open that tinfoil chin very early on,Wlad will definatly have some heated and pressing rounds to cope with early on but I think he can take it late when Arreolas over indulgence of the breakfest buffets catches up.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
More I think at those KOs that Wlad got from Brewster and Sanders more I can see a possible upset here, Arreola having the same style of hitting by jumping on the opponent when he throw punches I’m not saying I favor Chris, but he has some chances to stop Klitschko, otherwise I couldn’t see Arreola possibly winning on points.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Wladimir isn't the same fighter, he's defense is vastly improved, he hides behind his powerful jab which can take the fight out of even the most stout heavyweights. He is also to light and quick on his feet, I don't think Arreola can close the gap quick enough. He seems to me to be a sitting duck.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
My prediction would be Wlad wins KO Rd 3

Oh Well:-\
But same point stands Chris was rocked by Walker and barely survived the attack...He was actually holding in a desperate manner for a second...
I would not take the fight if I was Arreola's people...He has time and the division is weak,,,,Work on defense and stamina before taking this fight

Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Wlad is goin to jab the whole fight.AGAIN.
Unless Arreola catches him with that wierd right hook/overhand of his.;D
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
I knew they teased about his fight in Arreola's last post-fight interview but I didn't think it was going to actually happen so soon.
Arreola needs to get in better shape and a few more fights in him. I don't think he's ready yet.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
If Arreola shows up in shape, I consider him a live dog as his swarming, combination punching style is something Wlad has not faced and could give him trouble. You still have to like Wlad with his jab, but it could be interesting. More intriguing matchup at least than some of the other possibilities.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
I am psyched. I have always liked Wlad, but I like the idea of having an American heavyweight champion more.
Lets go nightmare!
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
A boxer that doesn't take advantage of his opportunities and abilities is disgusting.
Hopefully this wakes Arreola up.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Did he just get knocked down with a right hand his last fight?
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Chris will have to be at his absolute best to have a chance. Wlad is not going to elect to trade with him, so Chris will have to take the fight to him. He has trouble with speed and I think and mobile fighters. Steward will make sure Wlad sticks to a set game plan to outbox him from the outside and catch him coming straight in.

Yes, but he went down on his own accord, he knew he was hurt and took a knee.
I doubt Cris does much in this fight....he may try and swing wildly but Wlad is stronger, in better shape, and more experienced. If Cris didn't like Witherspoon's jab he's going to hate Wlad's....I think Arreola is another version of Sam Peter who Wlad schooled.
Now IMO Arreola COULD withstand a barrage from Wlad and if his stamina is good enough he could mount a solid attack if Wlad is tired but he's so easy to hit I think Wlad is going to have him beaten up pretty bad before he gets the chance to counter.

Haha, like a dummy I checked Boxrec to see if I'd missed him fighting Thompson. If that fight had happened I think Thompson would have school him.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
I see no chance whatsoever for Arreola. Even if he swarms Wlad,he will just get a little bit closer for Wlad to use the shotgun jab. He will embarass Chris and make him look like Rahman in the last fight. A bit harsh but I can not see one thing good Chris could do besides start swinging for the fences. Brewster and Sander's didn't even swing for the fences everything they did was very tightly thrown and short.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
This is another typically absurd fight. Rahman and then Arreola?? Utterly laughable.

Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Besides Povetchkin who else is out there? Haye is set to fight Vitali in the summer so no way are Wlad and David going to fight before that. Gomez and Klitschko are fighting, and there is nobody right now really at the hype of Arreola that Wlad hasn't beaten except Povetchkin.

Im sure Toney could generate more interest and money than Arreola.

Recently, Toney has been as lackluster as any heavyweight. I thought he lost his last fight. Haye would be more interesting, but he is fighting Vitali. Povetkin is out indefinitely because of an injury. Arreola is ranked in the ring magazine top ten and has successfully knocked out each of his last 6 opponents before round 4, and his last three opponents have a combined record of 70-2-1. There is a dearth of quality heavyweights, but Arreola is as good of a fight as any right now. Mexicans in southern California will come out in droves if the fight is staged at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
That said, Klitschko beats Arreola in six rounds, although Arreola won't run like Ibragimov and the fight may be interesting if only for a little while.

I know what you are saying, but Toney needs his shot and its coming notime sooner against anybody else. And he is old already.
Toney is a name and if he has his chance and if he blows it then its done. But at least he did try.
Right now I dont know what Toneys strategy is but it doesnt seem to be a plan on retiring any time soon. It should be though. There wont be that many chances hereafter.

Fair enough. I thought I read somewhere that Emmanual Steward said he would never let Klitschko get in a ring with Toney. Is that true? I may be imagining it.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
I think Arreola needs a couple more fights before he takes this one. He really needs to get in better shape and tighten up is D or else Wlad is going to school him just like Vitali did to Peters.

Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
Either Klitschko ices Arreola inside 4 rounds....the guy is never prepared and his defense is porous. He hasnt fought anyone notable and to tell you the truth I havent been really that impressed with any of the 3-4 performances I have seen....When you are fighting UPS drivers you need to be a bit more spectacular..

Not after his fight with Fres Oquendo....Toney is 100% done as a legit prize fighter. Arreola is a good fighter and if Wlad wants to stay busy then fine by me.
Arreola is ranked pretty high and is undefeated....people just don't see him having a chance because he's been fat in his last couple of fights but he has a good chin and good power and whenever he gets hit he likes to throw right back....I give Arreola a better shot at beating Wlad than anyone else out there right now...he has stamina, power, a good chin, and a style which won't sit well with Wlad who likes to hit somebody and have them stop trying to win after about round 3.

Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
If Dr Slap agrees to this I have to give him a little credit.
He's better than frauds like Rahman, Thompson, Brock, Austin etc

Thompson, Brock, and Austin earned their shots and Rahman just kind of fell into his shot because Povetkin got "hurt" (IMO he got close to fighting Wlad and realized he had no shot at winning and decided not to fight him).
I just wonder when Odlanier Solis is going to get up in the ranks to add some fresh blood to the division and also when Dimitrenko is going to fight someone good.

What has Tony Thompson ever done ? Austin had 4 draws and 3 losses  and Brock beat a couple of poor contenders. Timor Ibragimov, Damn. I don't know how those 3 merrited a shot at all.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
I think its still a little to soon for Arreola to tackle the elite of the division, he still needs to work on his dfense & his conditioning.
He has a punchers chance but theres no way I see Wlad getting careless against a banger like Arreola.
I for one would be over the moon if Arreola could land that perfect shot as he's entertaining & would bring some much needed attention to the division.

i,m with you on arreola he can take a punch, i have him knocking wlad out, then his brother will fight arreola because of the loss.

Tony Thompson TKO'd Luan Krasniqi and beat Timor Ibragimov and Dominick Guinn...his size and style as a fighter make people avoid him. David Haye would have a TON of trouble with Thompson....anybody would.
Calvin Brock was 29-0-0 when he fought Wlad and just came off wins vs Etienne, McCline, Timor Ibragimov, and he got Zuri Lawrence with one of the biggest shots I have ever seen.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI8KSBsSY-Y
Ray Austin had a draw with Sultan Ibragimov which entitled him to a title shot as Sultan also got a title shot vs Shannon Briggs whom he beat.
I must also add that Wladimir did win all those fights by KO/TKO so that's what he is supposed to do.
-
Re: NEWS:Klitschko to face Arreola?
If Arreola can make himself harder to hit then I like his chances better but the first guy with any power that he fought he got knocked down by....and hell he commented about Chazz Witherspoon's "Oh shit jab" and if he wasn't only blowing smoke then he's going to get a woodshed beat down from Wlad.
Cris is a warrior but he can't afford to be fat in this fight and he can't afford to start slow....Wlad has been the distance before and won even after being "knocked down" 3 times

Brock beat McCline, Etienne among others, I agree it was too soon when he got his shot, but he had better credentials than Arreola and I would bet on Brock if he was still fighting to outbox Arreola. SULTAN Ibragimov the guy who faced Wlad had just beaten Holyfield, and Briggs, was a belt holder and had a heralded amateur career back in Russia. He was, and is as good of a small heavyweight as anyone in the sport today. Once again Ray Austin was a guy who had beaten a lot of recognizable names, and I don't know why Wlad fought him, but he is more credible to get a title shot than Arreola currently is.
