Fantasy Boxing 2009 (Please read 1st page for rules & stable details)
Is now in play…
If you want to sign-up to play now you will start with 24,000 to bid on fighters to create a stable. If you are playing from last year your stable has either been continued or reset. If you failed to inform me that you wanted to play this year your stable has been closed & the fighters that were in your stable have been auctioned off. You can re-open it any time by just informing me.
Fighters available to purchase must be ranked by Ring Magazine. When new fighters are added to the Ring Ratings they will be placed in the available fighters section for players to bid on. When fighters are removed from the ratings they exit the game completely, unless already a part of a stable. In this case the fighter will remain but only have a dollar value of a $100 until they can become ranked again.
Each fighter has been assigned a dollar value. This indicates the starting bid for that fighter. A fighter’s dollar value is reflective of his ranking and will change accordingly.
If a fighter in your stable wins against an unranked opponent he will win your stable $100.
If your fighter defeats another ranked fighter he will win the opponents dollar value for your stable.
If your fighter loses a fight he will lose your stable the amount of his dollar value.
In the case of a draw both fighters will receive a payout of half the others dollar value.
If two of your fighters sign to fight each other you will have to choose which fighter you want to back. The fighter not chosen will leave your stable & be auctioned (70% of his dollar value would be the starting price of the auction).
If a fighter retires he will just leave your stable.
To buy a fighter you must post your bid in this thread. Bids must increase by a minimum of $100 starting from the fighter’s dollar value. Once the auction has started it will run for 24 hours from the time of the starting bid.
You may purchase fighters from other stables if the owner agrees to the sale. The minimum offer must be 70% of the fighter’s dollar value. The fighter will be auctioned as normal.
You can bid on an unranked fighter if he has signed to face a Ring Rated fighter in his next fight. Fighters in this scenario have a dollar value of $900. If the fight is cancelled the sale will be reversed. If your unranked fighter is beaten he will be removed from your stable with no compensation. If another stable defeats your fighter they will earn $100, as your fighter is unranked.
You can sell a fighter back at 70% of their dollar value. But if a fighter in your stable loses you will not be able to sell him until the next weeks Ring Ratings come out. Any rank change will affect the fighter’s dollar value.
You can also auction fighters. The starting bid would be 70% of the fighter’s dollar value. An auction will last for 24 hours from the time it is posted in the thread. All bids must increase by a minimum of $100.
Potential bankruptcy occurs when your money drops below $0. You will be given the opportunity to sell/ auction the fighters in your stable to repay the debt. If your debt still cannot be recovered your stable will be declared bankrupt & you will have to continue via the unranked route.
The unranked route means you will receive $200 to purchase 2 unranked fighters of your choice. Unranked fighters are assigned a dollar value of $100.Unranked fighters can only be purchased by players whose stables go bankrupt or have no ranked fighters & less than $1,000 in their account.
The season will last until the end of 2009. Good luck.

The 72 hour auction has now concluded. Those fighters that were sold have been added to the stables that purchased them. Fighters that did not sell have been placed in the available fighters section to be bid on. Fighters that were no longer ranked by The Ring & did not sell have been removed from the game.

Re: Fantasy Boxing 2009 (Read 1st pg for rules & stable details)
Wait hold on, didn't I keep Mares in my stable?
Galaxy, can you show me what I had?
Also, I think you should amend the scoring to make the dollars a little more even. I say this because a player can win the whole season based on one win, where someone else could win tons of fights and be nowhere close. Just an idea. I'm definately not talking about myself, I had tons of losses.

Hey killer
You told me you wanted to reset which meant auctioning your fighters & recieving the $25,000 reset amount in addition. You had Arreola, Nanthachai & Mares.
The reason the amounts are like that is because you get bigger money for beating better competition. Stables whose fighters fight a lot of journey men might have a nice record but its not really relevant to the level they have been fighting.

You're right, I did reset, my mistake and my apologies, my memory is horrible. I understand the argument for fighting ranked fighters, but how many times does that happen a year when two ring ranked fighters fight each other? Maybe once a month. I'm not saying the values should be the same, but when one fight is worth $28,000 for a win and another is $100, there's no way for everyone to have a chance of winning.

Re: Fantasy Boxing 2009 (Read 1st pg for rules & stable details)
I'd like to bid $33,000 on JMM.

I see where your coming from but it also goes the other way. You can lose that amount just as easy. JT Rock sat atop most of last year but the loss for Pavlik to Hopkins toppled him!!!
I think the secret is to form a stable with a few guys who will fight top competiton, a few who are on the border line & some that fight regularly & have the potential to break through. Plus keep & eye on unranked fighters who will be meeting ranked opponents & are live dogs e.g. Bradley, Santos, Gonzalez or V. Klitschko.
In the end mate I feel its not about winning but keeping your stable in good form!

Fair enough, I appreciate the work you put into this and will play regardless, it is fun. I'm not gonna bang my drum anymore on the scoring it's your game afterall. Glen Johnson's loss killed me as well and since I didn't have any more money I was screwed for the rest of the season.
