Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
Let's make a list of the best fights ever, according to how many rounds they lasted. In other words, what's the best 1 round fight ever, the best 2 round fight ever, etc.
For example, I think we'd all agree that Hagler-Hearns is the best 3 round fight of all-time.
Is Corrales-Castillo the best 10 rounder ever? Ali-Frazier III the best 14 rounder?
Let's try to fill them all in.

3- Hagler-Hearns
4-
5- Foreman-Lyle
6-
7-
8-
9-

Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
Zab Judah vs Kostya Tszyu for the second round? Or are you talking about devastatingly competitive, hard fought rounds? I think Judah's dance warrants a spot up in the high places.

People stealing all my picks
Nobody's picked a 15 rounder yet? Holmes-Norton was the first to pop up for me, but there's so many.
Off the top of my head I don't know any 14 round fights better than Arguello-Pryor 1, not saying they don't exist, just don't remember that many 14 round fights.

Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
Actually I prefer Holyfield-Qawi 1 to Holmes-Norton. Still not sure that's the best though, gotta think on it.

Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
Gomez-Pintor was a good 14 rounder. I'm indecisive when I'm drunk.

I can't think of any better 14 rounders either

Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
I'd probably go with Chacon-Limon 3 over Holy-Qawi 1 or Holmes-Norton

I think Leonard-Hearns was 14 rounds and The Thrilla in Manilla was 14 rounds and I think it's between the last two, I would take Pryor-Arguello but wouldn't argue the other way.
Castillo-Corrales I versus Ward-Burton, Gatti-Ward I think I'd take Castillo-Corrales, change that to I would defiintely take Castillo-Corrales wouldn't be shocked if others liked the other two better though.
For 12 rounds my personal favorite fight ever is Bobby Chacon and Carlos Boza-Edwards, it's almost hard to watch at times how both guys took those shots. One of the most underrated fights ever to make sure I was thinking of the right fights I checked and found it won fight of the year, I never knew that. I stumbled upon it just trying to watch more Bobby Chacon I never knew that was FOTY.

Me too. That was fun to watch. Cosell was going off his nut. Totally berserk. Lyle goes down!! Now Foreman is hurt!! Foreman is down!!! Ladies and gentlemen, this is slugging at it's best, utterly without skill, the way the public likes it,

Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
I suspect there's a better 6 round fight than Vazquez-Marquez 2 but that's the only one I can think of now.
Saad-Yaqui 2 was another good 14 rounder.

Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
Its not best rounds, its the best fights determined by when they end
-
Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
I would say Ward-Gatti 1 the best 10 rounds
-
Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
I don't think it would be too off if Hatton Tszyu went in there for 11rd fight. It was quite a war!

Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
Hagler-Hearns. Three rounds of unmitigated fury. Non-stop balls to the wall.

Antwun Echols vs Charles Brewer was just as good shame about the ending, it was a bit premature IMO. But action wise its just as good regarding 3 round fight as Marvin Hagler vs Thomas Hearns.

Re: Best fights ever.... by number of rounds
Tempted to put Castro vs. Jackson as one of the quickest, most devestating turnarounds ever but Castro was really getting the snot beat out of him mostly 1-8 until it happened?

Hagler v Hearns was on a completely different level, more speed, skill and far more importance. Thats what makes it far more impressive than Echols v Brewer for me.
