I think that including B-hop there are a lot of quality boxers being overlooked. Why have the same boxer two months in a row?
Does anyone here have a subscription to the magazine? Is it worth it?

Re: The Ring magazine covers
Bernard Hopkins appropriately was on the January 2009 Cover following his win over Pavlik.
Why would he have been on the cover in 2008?
My observations are that there aren't many European fighters other than Joe Calzaghe; there aren't many fighters from the lower weight classes other than Pacquiao; and, Pacquiao and PBF dominate the Covers.

Re: The Ring magazine covers
Grady Brewer ??? Love the hype for that goofy show.

Hatton was on there, also I believe the new issue has Haye on the cover. But yeah out of 24 issues PAC is on 7 covers, PBF is on 5

I used to up untill a few months ago.
I still think its a good read but they tend to hype a fighter they like to the max ie.Pavlik.
They did the same when Hasim Rahman beat Lewis.
I still think The Ring belt is the top belt out there as well.;D

The Ring often releases two covers different covers. One sold in the U.S. and one sold in Europe with a European fighter on the cover. They show the alternate cover on like the second page.

Yeah, its worth it Sheep.I get them at Barnes & nobles, have never subscribed.Honestley, they are nothing compared to what they used to be.In as far as info and pages. All in all a good addition to keep you informed.Just wait and see what Oscar has in mind for it lol.Bet GBP gets alot of coverage;D

Re: The Ring magazine covers
I had a subscription and thought it sucked really. Not much on anyone but the very top tier, and I know what the hell they are doing anyway.
I remember I really enjoyed an Israel Vasquez interview in one of them but thats about the only they that stands out. The information is dated and the stuff that isn't dated seems like one big fucking commercial about some big upcoming fight. As if one big fight is all we give a shit about.
I also think the rankings are biased and pretty much a popularity contest. Not to say they don't have the best belt, but look who you are comparing them too!

Re: The Ring magazine covers
January 2009 has David Haye in the cover.
And that's right! You guessed it! Manny Pacquiao is on the cover again for the February 2009 issue
-
Re: The Ring magazine covers
Vasquez-Marquez should have been a picture of them trading punches on at least one cover. B-Hop Obviously deserves to be recognised.
-
Re: The Ring magazine covers
I am sure the covers are changed for the British audience, they will have Hatton, Joe or Haye now.

I've had one for three years and will continue to have one. Do you have any other subscriptions? How about that UK mag? Kidding.

Re: The Ring magazine covers
I still have my boxing mags from 1984 - 1998, not complete sets, some before and after the dates. They were certainly much better in content quality than today magazines.

Re: The Ring magazine covers
PAC again on another Ring Mag cover...;D

Re: The Ring magazine covers
For me, featuring the same guy, this really doesn't do a tonne for the sport, there are so many top top boxers, atleast get some kind of spread and introduce different weight classes too. Atleast feature that months current most interestin / exciting champion from a diff weight class. Showin the same boxers all the time makes the sport look a million times shallower than it actually is. I I think boxing is alot deeper in talent these days than when it relied on heavyweights. Theres some great fighters at very different weights for Ring to be considerin introducin. Always thinkin about the short term, whos now.

Re: The Ring magazine covers

To think that PAC is not even a Golden Boy Promotions boxer, this is highly anomalous... ;)
Ring Mag is owned by Golden Boy and PAC is a Top Rank boxer...

Re: The Ring magazine covers
Yes, Pac has too many covers.
I would like to read Ring Magazine but unfortunately I live in a country where newsagents don't actually exist. All my boxing reading is done online.
