Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
Televised by HBO on April 11th?
Here, Brian Minto calls out Chris Arreola:
News: Perez vs Mabuza; Minto Targets Arreola; Al Bernstein
Who would you pick?

I agree, but wouldn't you like to see Arreola make short work of him ;D

You know, people tend to slight Minto a lot, he may not be the best but he brings it. I would actually like to see this fight happen if Arreola can't get a title shot for his next fight.
Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
There goes the idea of HBO only broadcasting quality fights. To me this fight is pointless Arreola in one or two rounds.
Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
Minto should chanllenge arreola to something more competetive like checkers or madden or something. Chris will knock minto block off inside of three.
Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
Well let's look at it objectively, who else will Arreola fight on his April HBO date?
Wlad/Haye looks like it's going to happen in June.
Vitali is fighting Gomez in March.
Matt Skelton Is fighting Rogan at the end of the month.
Povetkin is fighting Estrada in April.
Tony Thompson
John Ruiz
Sam Peter
Brian Minto
Oleg Maskaev
Alexander Dimintrenko
Lamon Brewster
Hasim Rahman
Nikolay Valuev
Eddie Chambers
I guess there are a few options.
Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
Cris beats the technically limited Minto with ease IMO.
Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
Mintos a nice enough guy, gives it a go and not hesitant to travel abroad...But Arreolla would ball him up like dirty laundry, spank him badly.
Arreola vs. Peter would not be half bad.

The problem is that the April 11th date will be the Williams/Winky undercard. That means there probably is not enough money to get a bigger name in there like Peter.

This is probably true, Minto may be a more viable option. Arreola can look great on HBO and Minto gets to put his money where his mouth is.
Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
I like Minto, but he lost to a 46 y/o Tony Tubbs. Thats a hard thing for me to get past. He may have improved some since but Arreola would crush him imo.

This is an HBO PPV Undercard, isn't that exactly what they want?

Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
If Brian Minto could BOX then hell yeah I'd figure he'd have the stuff to beat Arreola but honestly Arreola is just a poor man's David Tua right now

One guy you didn't mention who I'd love to see Arreola in with is Andrew Golota. He was in good form with wins over Mike Mollo and Kevin McBride but then had that arm injury that caused to retire after a round against Ray Austin, him arm looked horrific after the fight.
If he's healed up though that could be a good fight. Jameel McCline could make for a decent opponent as well. Not sure what Calvin Brock is doing these days but any of those 3, maybe even Mike Mollo would make decent opponents in fights that would be fun to watch. A lot easier to negotiate than the ones you mentioned as well imo, I imagine they would all jump at the opportunity if offered and not already committed.
Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
To me Thompson, Chambers, Ruiz, and Dimitrenko look too dangerous for Arreola to fight.....if it's true that everyone cares so fucking much about their records that they don't want to even chance a loss vs anyone.
Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
Minto on a stretcher by the 3rd round

You're right about that. Everyone is so afraid to lose their 'O' that they actually hurt their development by not taking risking fights that win or lose will teach them something about fighting. I can't imagine Arreola taking a Thompson fight. I'd like to see Chris get in with Dimitrenko and see how he deals with a jumbo HW who isn't ancient like McCline. Peter would be an interesting test, too, and I can see that possibly happening because the fight would be marketable.
Re: Chris Arreola v. Brian Minto
I would take Arreola or Haye fighting Ray Austin or Larry Donald if for nothing else to prepare them against bigger heavyweights....they shouldn't have trouble winning those fights but for some reason neither Arreola nor Haye want to fight a big guy other than Wladimir of course....but they haven't prepared properly and if they get Wlad before preparing it's just going to be an ass whuppin'!
Arreola has been knocked down recently and if Walker knew how to box he would have finished Cris off. Wladimir will pick him apart
David Haye has been knocked down several times and already KO'd by a cruiserweight.....he needs to prepare AND to get a better defense but don't let me tell anyone we'll just find out on fight night
