Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Cotto on Margarito decision! | Fightnews - Boxing News Updated 24/7
Here is Miguel Cotto’s reaction regarding the California’s State Athletic Commission revoking Antonio Margarito’s boxing license: “California’s Boxing Commission evaluated the case and made a decision. They have necessary evidence to judge [Margarito and his trainer] according to their rules. I think that my future won’t be affected by this decision. I will continue with my training for February 21 and I’m focused on winning the title against Michael Jennings and bringing another championship to Puerto Rico.”

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
The damage to Cotto has to make me think something was up. I don't think this was the first time A.M. and his corner pull something like this.

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
I think hes a good, honest guy...he can seem kinda dull in his interviews and statements, but he doesnt seem to like talking to the media much as he is a family man and I can respect that.

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Cotto is class but no doubt its been knocked about in his camp since a few saturdays ago and read like forum letter?.Sure he'll have a bit more to say after Jennings bout with HBO playing co-sign.

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Past is the past and its time to move on. Agreed. Respect.

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Surely now that Margarito has been banned for a year and assuming Cotto beats Jennings then a rematch with Mosley must happen now to prove who the undisputed welterweight champion is?
I honestly think Mosley would beat Cotto in a rematch, there first fight I scored very close but with a Cotto win and I think Mosley left it too late in the fight to pressure Cotto and as Margarito proved that is the way to beat Cotto. Pressure!

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Cotto is a humble guy, and has rarely said anything bad about anyone.
As for Margarito he got off easy....sorry you can seriously hurt someone or even KILL them in boxing WITHOUT cheating like this....I wouldn't have minded if Margarito was banned from boxing altogether

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Cotto is a person that doesn't like to compromise his words too.............;D

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision

I said Margarito should have gotten a 3 year ban, but that seemed extreme to some. I agree with you: that plaster stuff could have killed Mosley

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Cotto has always been class, and being so close to a fight he doesnt need any distractions or to be a part of a controversy.
I do think the loss prob. messed with his head. It would explain the tattoos somewhat as a need to make changes and try new things. Looking forward to his fight and hope to see him regain the confidence and respect he imo deserves.
I wouln't give Margarito a rematch tho. I wouldn't give Margo anything or any kind of reward for being a cheat. Whether he did it in only one fight or not. But ya, I guess I'm fairly bitter about it.

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Cotto is one kool kat for sure.....He just maintains a level attitude about everything and keeps his mind focused on his next job at hand....
Margarito should never be allowed to fight again; though I wouldn't mind seeing him fight and get bruised and battered again like Mosley did to him, and to a big degree Cotto did....this coming from one of the biggest Margarito supporters that was on this forum....Mosley probably ruined him so let him get beat like an old journeyman dog now if he is allowed to fight; and take all his purse $$$ after each fight:woot22:A disgrace.....and Capetillo should have his arsehole filled with plaster; though I'd feel kind of sorry for the gerbils stuck up there:tease-new:

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Fairly level headed words from Cotto. But I would be willing to bet my house on it that he is a lot more pissed off than he will ever show. He is always going to be wondering if he was beaten fairly.

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Cotto has chosen the high road when asked about the Margarito handwrap controversy. It just confirms the class act he is. Deep inside, though, he must have SOME thoughts about the way he got busted up against Tony. Anyway, I'm glad he's concentrating on Jennings. He'll be back atop the division soon enough.

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Thank god he isn't as boring in the ring as he is behind a mic. Always the cookie-cutter, "nice guy" answers.

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Cotto spoke a little bit more about it today in a conference call for his fight with Jennings.
And good for him, it's sounds like he won't go to Mexico to fight Margacheato. Margacheato should not be allowed to step into a ring ever again, and he sure as $hit should not get another pay day.
Fuk Bob Arum for disrespecting Cotto, and the Boxing Commission.

Re: Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision
Before the handwraps controversy..I thought Cotto's psychological strengths would or should suffer. His confidence should have been all taken away after the loss..Now, it's the other way around. I think he will comeback stronger and more confident than ever. His spirit..It must be skyhigh right now. I'm sure he's thinking (and everybody is telling him right now) damn you took a shitload of 'bricked' punches from a relentless opponent and you didn't get KTFO. His body gave up, but his chin didn't fail him. He has taken the best of Mosley, and he has survived anything Margarito could offer. He will be back with a vengeance and will vindicate himself.
