Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!!
He weighed in at 138. Funeka weighed in at under the limit at 133.5 2 hours to lose 3 pounds is do-able but that means hell likely have to hit a sauna which is never good. Im surprised Nate wasnt 135 the first try, but these things happen, im sure hell make the weight.
UPDATE: He came back after two hours and weighed in at 137.5! Very disappointing new. I honestly would never have expected this. The fight will go on but only Funeka can claim the titles.

Not good, definately not good for Campbell. Funeka was an equal challenge to begin with IMO, this puts him as a slight favorite.

Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it.
He has 2 hours before weigh in is closed, or before the fight?
-
Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it.
I dont think that Funeka is an even challenge tbh. Nate been fighting at this level for a long time and almost always does well, with the exception of the Peden fights. Ali beat Raheem and thats about it. The only other decent fighters he fought he barely beat, didnt beat, or drew with. Hes not on Nates level, plain and simple. His record is decieving. Although he does have a punchers chance, Nate is too clever and experienced. Nate should handle this guy and stop him in the middle rounds. I really cant see Funeka coming out with the win, no way.

Before the weigh-in is closed. As it is, Nate could easily be up to 145 by fight time. Ali wont look like the bigger guy tommorow, only in height imo.
-
Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it.
Does this mean Nate will be a tad weight drained come fight night? That gives Funeka his best chance.

Ah ok, that isn't too bad then. I had to cut once as weigh in was same morning as fight, screwed up my weight and had to if wanted it. Sauna'd and spit cup it down and it was terrible. Felt like a dream and had zero energy, not to mention was dangerous. Won't ever again. And these guys will be hitting a lot harder then anything i've ever known.
-
Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it.
Yeah its never good when a fighter has to cut weight in a short amount of time. The body needs time to rehydrate. I think hell be ok losing 3 pounds in 2 hours but it really depends one what his state is right now. He could have busted his ass already to get to the 138 or he may just need to take a good sh@t and hell be fine. If he does need to use a sauna to sweat it out, that would be most dangerous. When your weight drained you dont take punches as well and its dangerous cause you dont have the enough of the fluid needed to protect you brain....this isnt a good thing for Nate. I think hell be ok though come tommorow, hopefully.

Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
what the hell is the matter with nate, guzman does this to him now his doing it to ali. Damn the title is no longer at stake, this is bullshit Ali is going to k'o nate anyways not they have this his drain excuse.
-
Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
Wow so if Campbell wins the IBF and WBO titles go vacant. In the Lightweight division there is going to be a lot of confusion (more than usual). Because the tournament coming up will undoubtedly have a few eliminators involved.

So he definily hasnt lost the 3 pounds in 2 hours?
-
Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
If he couldn`t shake that, then he likely was already drained down and had nothing more to give up. No water left you aren`t gonna lose anything else.

Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
Kinda reminds me of when Castillo faile to make weight vs. Corrales and then in Corrales next fight he comes in heavy. It is bad when these things happen. Nate has took a lot of pride in being lightweight champion and im surprised by this, but its clear that with his age and recent inactivity, he needs to go up to light welterweight. It sucks thought cause his titles were all the leverage he had to make a big fight as he was the lightweight king imo. Maybe if he beats Funeka, then hell still be able to put something toghether. This is a bad night for Nate Campbell though.

He only lost a half a pound in the two hours. Its done, he just lost his titles like that.

yea man exactly what i had in mind too, just like chico.
I've been trying to hype up Ali cause i think he has a big chance of beating nate but now its ruin because nate comes in heavy. Whoever wins does not get that much credit because of this situation plus no title.
people will say;
if nate wins, because he came heavy.
if ali wins, because nate was drain.
fuck. :( so dissapointing.

Is it just me or are guys coming in heavier more often these days?

It's just a case of old bodies can't make weight anymore, Nate's 36 at a certain point your body will only let you get so low.

yea thats true, how long has he been a lightweight seems like ever since he started. he started his pro career late right? at age 25? and his always been a lightweight. im still dissapointed though, i had a feeling something about the guzman situation will hunt this bout. :(

Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
WTH was Nate thinking and eating?? After all that shit he taked on Guzman he pulls the same shit damn.
-
Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
I think Nate will lose this fight. But After this fight... there's one more fight with nate win or lose. A rematch with Guzman.. this time no weight Limit. Winner keeps on fighting, the loser will retire for good!
-
Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
The fact that he came in at 138 and weighed back in 2 hours later only a half a pound less, basically means that he must have made a conscious decision not to attepmt to make the weight and be weight drained after the first attempt. He must have felt that if he vacates the titles and he doesnt kill himself to lose 3 pounds he'll be strong and win tommorow. If he killed himself those two hours and dehydrated himself, he could be at great risk of losing the fight and completely ending his career. This way, hell be strong as ever and still likely win and hope to salvage his reputation. From a business standpoint, it makes sence. But Ali got the bad end of the deal because hes basically fighting a light welterweight.

Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
I hate to hear something like that.
-
Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
A guy like Campbell needs the belts. It's the biggest bargaining chips he has. Or had. Without them his money value drops. Dramatically. He's not even the Ring champion. Campbell has pretty much removed himself from the Lightweight picture.

Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
TBH though I think its better he doesn't weight drain himself too much to make the weight & then we the fans don't get to see him fight because he's not physically able to. I think if he was trying to cut the pounds & realized he couldn't than its better that he doesn't do himself harm & we lose a fight because of it. Also as he was in negotiations with Hatton prior to the Pacquiao fight being made, I think he will be able to get a fight against one of the belt-holders at 140. Yesterday he was saying that he planned to move up to light-welter after this fight. Its not the same as Guzman not making the weight because he was coming up from a lower weight & couldn't make it coz of his lifestyle, I think Nate couldn't do it coz of his age

I agree with that, but I dont see Hatton fighting him win or lose against Pac. The best fights he can hope to land in the future are probably Holt, Bradley, or Urango. Not sure he fares against any of those guys :-\ Thats assuming he wins tommorrow as I suspect he will.

Don't get me wrong I agree that he won't get a fight with Hatton, but I see him easily getting a fight with the winner of Holt/Bradley, as they are all in pretty much the same boat fo being talented but unrecognized by the wider public. A loss tomorrow screws him tho. One thing this does do though is open the Lightweight division right up. I can see Warren being bang on that WBO belt for Khan if he beats Barrera, maybe even trying to get the belt for that fight.

it's kinda like Corrales vs. Castillo and III Corrales vs. Casamayor III all over again Castillo (Guzman) failed to make weight and then Corrales canceled the fight, then Corrales (Campbell) goes on to lose his title on the scales in his very next fight

Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
I am speechless, here i am for weeks on end saying how good it has been to watch Nate Campbell comeback after the mistakes of the past (Peden) and then he does this?
WTF? Some people just can't help themselves i guess.

Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
It really does sound like he just decided "to hell with the belts, I'm gonna move up after this anyway." He may have even made this decision some time ago when he found it difficult to get down. Then he probably tried to figure how close he had to come after making a token effort to come down, and still have the fight come off.
It all sounds logical, but doesn't sound fair to Funeka at all. I hope he had to give a good portion of his purse to Funeka.

I dont know that it was planned, but Campbell and his team dont seem to think that Funeka earned the title shot anyways, so I wouldnt completey rule it out that they had a feeling it was going to come to this.

Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
This is really disappointing. I really hope it's due to his age and inactivity as opposed to what some people are speculating about.
-
Re: Nate 3 lbs heavy! Has 2 hours to lose it. UPDATE: Campbell Loses Titles On Scale!
He doesnt give a crap probably after not getting a bigger fight, shit the belts werent helping him get fights...if he wins he's gonna get a shot anyway.

All I know is,the promoter and the matchmaker are twitching right now like a fresh caught trout, because alot of money just went poof bye
