Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
Just found this this
Shane Mosley speaks: Wants Miguel Cotto but there is a Catch!
With Antonio Margarito out of the picture for the next year over alleged illegal hand wraps, a rematch with Miguel Cotto in the near future seems highly unlikely. With Margarito no longer a viable option, Shane Mosley has indicated he'd love to take Margarito's place and avenge a close decision loss back in 2007 to Cotto at NY's Madison Square Garden.
Although Mosley wants a rematch with Cotto, there is a Catch. The Catch? Mosley won't take the rematch if it's held again in New York (considered Cotto's home turf.)
Mosley recently tells Dan Rafael of ESPN.com that he is not willing to have a rematch with Cotto in New York again. "I won't be flying into New York if there's a rematch," said Mosley to ESPN, adding: "They'll be coming to Las Vegas or Los Angeles. He can fight in New York in June, but it won't be with me. This time, it will have to be on the West side. But I definitely want to fight Cotto again."

Miguel Cotto Vs Shane Mosley 2 = Greatness lol

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
Sounds fair to me. Shane wants the GB judges, guess I cant blame him. He is the champ so its his call. I still think I favor Cotto in the rematch. Shane doesnt usually do much better in rematches.

Well right now Mosley is the man so he'll probably get what he wants!

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
I don't think fighting in Vegas or LA would hurt Cotto....he beat Shane up the last time. I think Shane may try to change things up a bit but Miguel seemed to have his number and I don't think anything has changed

He beat him up? I must have missed that fight. I saw a close fight with Cotto winning by a round or two. I think a rematch would be another close fight with Cotto winning, but this is also assuming Cotto performs as well as he did the 1st time.

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
He was hurting Shane...you could tell. Yes Shane never gave up and he won the rounds Cotto took off but Miguel was using the jab and he was rocking Shane when he followed up with anything.
We will have to see how Miguel handles Jennings before making any final decisions.

I saw Cotto at moments beating Mosley up, and that Mosley's insane ability to take punches really kept him in the game. Cotto clearly was the superior boxer, his jab and cross and left hook landed at will, while Mosley could only land his right hook effectively.

He does a little better, and that's all it will take. He lost pretty decidedly to Forrest and Wright in the first fights and made it much close the second time around.
To me the rematch is a tossup, even money fight.

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
The uppercut was also working when Cotto threw it.

....either way Floyd Mayweather isn't the GREATEST until he fights both those guys

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
Cant wait. I like Mosley alot but im hoping Cotto takes him he wont be taking all those shots to the dome like margarito did. Its gonna be a split decision, probably another fight that could have gone either way.

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
Sounds about right, considering recent events.First things first,Cotto getting back into Championship form with rebound victory vs. Jennings.I give Mosley a mental edge to boot, just pulverizing Margarito who had just beat Cotto.I think Mosley will bring more pressure On Cotto, bodywork and about as even a match as it can be Imo.

OK Ill give him that. He did do better against Forrest,Wright, and Vargas in the rematches, Oscar he didnt but Oscar fought a great fight imo in the rematch. One of his best. As long as Mosleys age doesnt catch up with him...i feel like i say that all the time and then these old guy have a great performace, but it could happen. I agree that as of now its a tossup till we see what Cotto has.

the second fight with Mosley/Cotto would be a real close tactical fight.

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
Cotto has the skill to 'slightly' outbox Shane. I would bet on Cotto to do the same job again in another close fight regardless of the venue.

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
I think shane knocks Cotto out in a rematch. I think he'll be much more motivated, and after what he just did to Tony, and seeing what Tony did to Cotto, he KNOWS he can knock him out. He's got Naazim now too.

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
I think Shane has always been a little limited by his dad being his trainer. He gets him in shape, but not a good fight planner. Shane is equal to or better in all areas than Cotto. The last fight wasn't about Cotto's boxing ability being better, it was a better game plan.
Shane tried to brawl and Cotto boxed. I think the fight could have gone either way. I think now that Shane is spending more time with Bhop and his crew he is learning how to tip the scales in your favor, or avoid playing to your opponents strengths. New York is hometown advantage.
I think Shane will fight VERY different than the first fight. He will fight smart and he has all the tools to beat Cotto. I think Shane wins a very entertaining and close fight that goes the distance and sets up a trilogy.

Well said. I must have been watching a different fight than most people...because i had that fight AT LEAST a draw or even a slight win for Shane. Sure, Cotto was effectively using his jab. But Shane never went away...and Cotto was running for the last rounds against the older fighter. It will also come down to how Cotto will respond mentally after his defeat to Tony. Shane seems to have gained a second wind...but i need to see how Cotto responds after his last defeat. Should be a great fight!

It just pisses me off when people act like Mayweather is untouchable when it's not that he hasn't beaten the best of his divisions HE HASN'T EVEN FOUGHT THEM!!!!!
What's wrong with boxing? Floyd "Money May" Mayweather's unwillingness to fight the best out there THAT'S WHAT! He's in his prime, he's supposed to be taking on the best and most dangerous opponents RIGHT NOW but he waits and tries to make light of their performances or use their losing to other fighters not to fight them. It's absolutely ridiculous! Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto....they take chances, they push themselves to be the best and want to prove it to the fans and that is why everyone likes them.
Let's say PBF got stopped by Margarito and then found out about the illegal handwraps.....I can bet you he wouldn't have been as quiet as Cotto has been

I guess Floyd will come back just looking for the biggest pay day possible, and that will be with Pacman, if he beats Hatton, or he might fight Hatton (if he wins). I don't think he will have any intentions to fight Mosley, Floyd will always find an excuse for not doing it.

Excellent post, with 100% on the money points.

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
A rematch will be great but if Mosley if not willing to fight in June at New York, then we may need to wait a little longer. I don't think that Arum will just let go the opportunity of getting the money of a big Puertorrican crowd during the parade. ;D

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
Hey PRP what's up? Cotto-Mosley II sounds good, huh?

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
Hey my friend!! It will be a great fight and promess to be very closed. We will need a lot of beer to calm the nerves ;D

Re: Shane Mosley "I want Miguel Cotto But There Is A Catch"
I think it should be a great rematch. Mosley showed against Margarito that he's still got it. People who said that Cotto had beaten an over-the-hill Mosley must be pretty quiet right about now. Regarding Cotto, if he's mentally over his beating at the hands of Margarito, which we'll see next week... he should be ready to reassume his place atop the division.
