Setanta/Jennings explanation
Ok someone I was at uni with now works for Setanta, so I facebooked them a couple of days ago to ask WTF was going on & they've told me that what they've heard around the building is that apparently Sky have apparently tried to put in a late block on Setanta showing the fight claiming they have a contract to show Sports Network fights till a certain date, this is the rumour going round their building anyway. So basically its actually SkySports fuckin us over if this is true, dunno if they even plan to show the fight if they stop Setanta.

Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
Setanta have advertised the Cotto and Pavlik fights so they must be showing it. I hope.

Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
I thought it was Warren behind it but it's Sky being arseholes. Even when Jaz said he'd phoned Setanta and it was on I didn't believe it, Setanta are probably getting lots of phonecalls from Chorley right now and are desperate for money/subscribers due to them losing half their Premiership games when the next TV contract starts. So they'll tell the punters anything. Sky will probably show it the Friday after the fight and we'll have to watch it on a dodgy stream. Bugger.

Have they advertised both fights as "live" ?
-
Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
I'm pretty sure they never advertsied it as live. It was always listed as TBC. Bunce said it will be live on his show though a few times.
It was obvious something was fishy when they were showing adverts for Pavlik but not Cotto-Jennings.
Hopefully he'll give an explanation today.

Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
All there advertising is pavlik-rubio and not the cotto fight!!
Cant see them showing both fights as theyre pretty much scheduled to start simultaneously and setanta wont wanna screen both cards!
I guess im gonna have to make do with an internet stream for this one :(:(:(

Doesnt appear to be
Bunce was asked a load of potential fights on setanta a month or so ago to which he said "the only fight i can 100% confirm is definitely gonna be shown right here is cotto-jennings, you can put that in your diary its rubber stamped right here on setanta" or something along those lines..
all of a sudden it seems anyone wanting to watch it in the UK will probably have to wait till wednesday or friday until sky can be bothered to air it!!

Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
I am sure both fights will be on Setanta and they will show them in the early hours of Sunday, one will be live the other virtually live.
-
Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
theres a programme on the sky tv listings on setanta at 10am on sunday, just called boxing , and the info states its a big international clash, can only be that one surely ?

Well i find Setanta is really treating its own boxing fans and customers really really badly.I mean how the hell do we know if or when this fight will be on.There expecting us to stay up in the early hours of the morning supporting our foe and then get told it'll be a highlight viewing will be showing instaed at the last minute. What a total sham.Im sure this cant be true though nfrom setanta standards are great"Well have been for me and i've been a customer for over 2 years now!!Please dont do this to us Setanta,,you'll lose my respect for sure if you rob us short on fights this weekend!!!

Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
bloody hell im making the trip home from uni for the weekend just to watch jennings v cotto - setanta or sky best have it on live otherwise its a complete and utter waste of time and money.
-
Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
Cant see it suddenly being put on Sky Sports at short notice. Hopefully Setanta can come through with it, why wouldnt Frank Warren want to televise it, doesnt make any sense. I personally think if a deals not done by now it wont be and we'll have to watch a stream of it if we want to see it live. Its on PPV in the states so at least should be able to get a decent stream youd hope

Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
I cant believe it has'nt yet been clearded up on whether this fight is on or not!Its a complete shambles, especially for us brits. We're going to stay up in the early hours of the morning"AGAIN":rolleyes:and we dont know if the fight will be live or not!Im really pissed off here!!

Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
"Setanta Sports are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Sports Network to secure the rights for Michael Jennings's WBO world welterweight title bout with Miguel Cotto.
The biggest fight of the Chorley fighter's life at Madison Square Garden in New York against the Puerto Rican idol forms part of a massive double-header for boxing fans with Kelly Pavlik's contest with Marco Antonio Rubio also being screened on Setanta this weekend.
It had been reported in some areas of the media that Sports Network were unwilling to conclude negotiations but this was never the case, it has just taken some time to reach agreement over the rights to the fight.
We apologise for the confusion over the Jennings-Cotto bout but have tried to keep our viewers informed of the developments and are delighted that the matter has reached a positive conclusion at this late stage.
Due to the fact that Pavlik’s fight with Rubio will extend beyond 5am, when Freeview coverage finishes, we will be screening the big double-header on Setanta Sports 2. Our coverage of Michael Jennings’s bout with Miguel Cotto is scheduled to come on air at 2am. The fights will be available live on Setanta by Broadband and the first-air repeat on Setanta Sports 1 will take place on Sunday at 12pm."

Sweet. I wonder if the Duddy fight will be on
-
Re: Setanta/Jennings explanation
I will take no pleasure in earning a great sum of money as Jennings gets battered.
