I will leave it up to Kirkland, Trainer, and all the other commies out there to explain Ken Krayeske's actions which were in poor taste and he was obviously grandstanding.

If Ken Krayeske "freelance journalist" writes a story for a newspaper (which are obviously struggling these days) and he was offered a sum of money would he then turn that money down to help out the newspaper? I don't think so because even dirtbags like him have to eat. Jim Calhoun may have come off a bit harsh but usually the norm in a POST GAME press conference is to talk about the GAME which has just been played or an upcoming game....to get infront of sports reporters and then not only insult the coach but insult the other reporters is tasteless and I would have had to have been restrained if I was there quite honestly.

So you don't think UConn basketball with it's ticket sales, games on tv, merchandise sales, etc. is worth that? Coach Calhoun makes money for the school which is why he gets paid well, if he was a bad coach he wouldn't be getting paid well it's acheivement based you see and although that seems like a foreign concept to you that is the way most stuff still works today.

I don't care personally (as an Alabama fan I could care less how much they pay Nick Saban, it brings a shitload of money in although technically in Saban and Calhoun's case the money comes from the state and goes to the school, not necessarily back to the state specifically but still who cares) but LOL at this being the "liberal media" ;D

I would also like to remind you Trainer that it's because of Jim Calhoun that people like Ray Allen, Omeka Okefor, Rudy Gay, Ben Gordon, Richard Hamilton, etc went to school there and because those guys went to UConn and made it into the NBA they usually are able to give back a substantial amount of money to the school and for some schools like UNC Dean Smith set the example by not allowing his former players to donate to the athletics department.

Most of Calhoun's contract is probably paid by alumni donations anyway

This is a very, VERY rare occurance.. but i agree with you, Lyle on this..

As far as the question went, was it an appropriate question? sure.. was it an appropriate time? absolutely not.. This could've been asked one on one, or in a smaller press conference, where the report could have then REPORTED the information to the general media.. Calhoun is a big name in college ball, along with Krzyewski (sp), Boeheim, R. Williams etc.. It's not like he is an underachieving, overpaid, small time coach..

All i know is that i was at the PC/Pitt game last night and witnessed something AMAZING. Go Friars!

Calhoun wasn't being a dick, he ewas being trapped by a grandstanding journalist, (the guy was a journalist), and he wasn't going to tolerate it. I'm glad Calhoun did what he did, I think that's ridiculous to bring up that Calhoun s the highest paid state employee and what he thinks of the economic crisis. Calhoun has nothing to do with it. FDR got in office in 1933 and the unemployment rate didn't fall below 10% until 1941 and for his entire time as President the average unemployment was 13%.....FDR was a great leader, there is no doubt about it but I just figure those numbers say something else about his handling of the economy.

How anyone can carry the water for Jimmy Carter is beyond me...he caused the reccession in the 1980's and he took a weak stance on the energy crisis.

When FDR took office the unemployment rate was 26% so he did a fantastic job reducing it. Of course the thing that finally ended the Depression-era bad economy was the huge government spending programme known as World War Two.

Jimmy Carter did cause the recession by putting interest rates up to double digits. It was the only way to end the double digit inflation caused by his GOP predecessors. That was the act of a strong leader, as was his handling of the energy crisis. What do you think would have been a "strong" response to the 1970s energy crisis Lyle?

I really don't care about the guy, I don't watch Fox News.....I watch The Simpsons on FOX but I don't watch Fox News at all....I couldn't even tell you what # channel it is.
