Disappointed in Guerrero
I think he could have put on a better effort even though he got cut... I figure he had 2 rounds to go before it could have been ruled a no desicion, he didnt even try.... I thought his opponent hit him with some good shots and was not troubled by Guerrero... I think Robert took the easy way out since the rules stated he could... He let a whole arena down that came to see him, showed a questionable heart.
Max Kellerman asked during the Kirkland fight if he though James would have quit if he got a cut like that... The guys were like NO!!!!!
Its a boxing match people get cut and hurt, whether by punch or head, elbow etc... its part of the game, I think he really hurt his image last night showing a diva like behavior..
Judah heard crap for it against Clottey and so did Rahman against Toney.. I'm not giving Robert a gatepass on this one
-
Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
Good points. Yeah Max also said boxing needs stars & Ortiz & Kirkland are fighters the sport needs - exciting guys fans look forward to see fight. By not mentioning Robert, a subtle snub.
Not sure if/when we'll see Robert on HBO again any time soon?
-
Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
He did look out of it from the beginning. It was real early but you could see Yordan giving him soem probs, slick outside and was clinching inside...landing some shots.
Jagged cut but good point, acted like it didnt matter either way.like announce team said,it sounded like the Dr.Did not believe him??? Side note......I hate the way the HBO camera got shoved into his wifes face, going on about her illness.Man,she looked uncomfortable

I'm dissapointed myself. Pac was cut much was worst during the Sanchez fight but he never quit until the cut was hit again by another headbutt.
If guererro try at least one more rd & go for a KO then quit after the rd then it's forgivable. I think Robert thinks he's not winning the fight so he just quit.

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
Never fails....Pacquiao makes his way into yet another thread :biteit:

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
...nobody wins in a headbutt. If guerrero continued and lost blood dripping in his eye would have been his excuse, he stops like he did and we are are justly dissappointed. The dude was quick a catching robert at times early so if you can't avoid punches with two eyes you sure as shit won't with one. We had hell trying to read lips and find out what was going on at the arena i havent seen how bad it was on tv as of yet.

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
I was disappointed with that call to stop fighting. I guess we weren't in his shoes maybe he just couldn't see as he stated and didn't want to chance a serious injury. Especially if you know the rules and know you wouldn't get your belts taken. I hope their will be a rematch.

LOL!! That was my first thought as well.
I think all the Pac nuthuggers have made an agreement with one another, that if one is not online, the others have to take care of mentioning Pac in every thread.
I swear, they are a disease that is spreading and infecting this forum with delusional thoughts. Plus, I think they are recruiting from other forums where they all have probably been banned from.
And regarding the subject of this post, I would have liked to have seen Robert at least give his cutman a chance to try and stop it, especially since many there came to see him fight, and if after going one more round, it would continued to be an issue, then stop it, and have it still go as a no decision. I just think it showed a little lack of heart, to give up so easily.
But who am I to judge his decision, the guy survives to fight another day.

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
It does put his heart into a bit of question. The guy he was facing looked to be on a role and finding him with the body head combination. I think rob was on his way to losing his belt and took the easy way out. That cut stopped bleeding rather fast didnt it. Im sure had he made it to the end of the round they've have stopped the cut.

Guerrero cut was basically the same cut that Pac has on the pac-em 1 but Pac never quit.

I urge you to do what I do and express you displeasure in the form of neg rep every time this happens.

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
Daud Yordan is one quick s.o.b. Dirty fighter too.
Guererro should go back down to 126 just like what Gamboa did.

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
Who the hell is Manny Pacquiao?
I like him, i think hes exciting, i also dont think this is like him im guna give him the benefit of the doubt this time. Im hoping a re-match is on the cards and we will see what happens there.
Personally, i think he was troubled by his opponant and he wasnt finding it easy, he saw only a long grueling fight ahead if there had been no cut so took the option to let it be what it was and call it to an end from the cut. Depends how you look at it but i think the inevatable was guna happen as soon as that cut happened anyway.

You obviously never saw the fight. Pac was crying like a little biitch. He was looking for a way out. Guerrero must of been watching that fight in the dressing room before he went out

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
I think Daud would have beaten Guerrero.
Gotta be honest have never been a fan of Guerrero and I think he's there for the taking.
I've seen Daud fight and the kids got talent, I think with some good promoting and training he's a future contender for sure.
He's had high praises from Asian since last year.

Have never seen him prior but got that same subtle impression.Dude is skilled going forward and back, had Guerrero puzzled & reacting as early as it was.Looked capable on the inside with Guerrero.

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
I thought the stoppage was a bit weak. Guerrero played by the rule book but you would have thought he would try and put up a show with the crowd expecting a decent fight. A little bit too safety first, not a nice cut but Ive seen much worse than that.
-
Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
Guerrero in Spanish literally means warrior.
When the fight was stopped due to the head butt I was like WTF!? :o but after seeing the cut, I said ok I guess I will give him a pass but other fighters have gone on to fight with huge cuts and then after watching the Brinkley/Gilbert fight and watching how Joeys nose was broken and bent off it nasal track ;D and yet he fought on and I remember one warrior (Israel Vazquez) quit right after getting his nose cracked so go figure, I did want to see Guerrero/Warrior get his ass kicked but I guess he opted to go by his other nick name and just make like a ghost and get the phuk out of the ring. ;D

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
I watched the fight again. And it was indeed a nasty "Z" cut on his eyebrow. But he kept saying "I can't see" while the doc was looking at the cut. That's like saying "Fukk it, I give up".
-
Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
It was a pretty nasty cut.......
So he could have fought on up til the end of round 4 and said he couldnt see and they fight would be declared no contest?
-
Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
If he couldn't see than he couldn't see. Boxing is to dangerous to fight with only one eye. It was an ugly cut
-
Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
It was a horrible cut and just an awkward fight all together. I think his corner could have kept that cut at bay for a while but that Yordan guy was very tricky and it was going to take Robert too long to catch up with him on points.
It was just a bad situation, an accidental cut and an awkward fight

He should have made it through the round and let his cutmen work on it, and call the fight off if they weren't able to fix it. I agree with the above post, the Indonesian looked like he was going to beat the Ghost especially with a cut on his eye, and Robert took the easy way out.

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
what a pussy
does he not realise he was fighting on prime time american tv infront of millions of viewers??
HBO wont wanna touch him after he backed out so easily and can you really blame them??
Klitschko against lewis, the guy that fought thaxton last week, hatton against maussa - these are the kind of guys you wanna see fighting because they wont let anything stop them, especially not a tiny cut just above an eye:(:(:(

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
I was extremely disappointed that he couldn't/wouldn't continue, but I was also disappointed by the shitty refereeing - Daud's clinching and holding was the most predominant factor of the fight from the opening bell and I think if the ref would have been a little less liberal with that then the headbutt could have been prevented from the get-go. It was a nasty cut in a very bad place. I think he could have continued, yes, but it wasn't my eye blood was leaking into so I don't know how it was affecting him.
The Ghost's heart may be in question, yes, but I really can't blame him - anyone familiar with his personal life couldn't possibly blame him. I just hope he can rebound from the negative publicity this will cause and get another shot, cause he's one hell of a fighter, a classy guy, and can be very exciting to watch.
@hattonthehammer - c'mon man, there ain't no 'pussies' in pro boxing. Pussies in public forums, that's another question entirely :-X

Re: Disappointed in Guerrero
I think Robert knew from the round and a half he went through that Daud was going to be difficult to beat because of how he would throw punches and clinch and his rhythm was all wrong for Robert.....if I was Guerrero's manager I would steer him clear of any rematch with that dude, it's not that Daud was all that great but he was just all wrong for Robert stylewise
