Re: Barrera v Khan - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
Come on, Marco Antonio Barrera!!!!!!!!!!
Barrera to win by late rounds KO.
-
Re: Barrera v Khan - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
Think we'll see a brilliant Khan performance but there is simply nothing Roach can do about his chin.
Shame really as Khan has everything else needed to go all the way.
Barrera will catch up with him around the 4th then break him to pieces and look to end it around 7 or 8.
Really looking forward to the Enzo Maccarinelli vs. Ola Afolabi fight.
Think this is gonna be a belter!
-
Re: Barrera v Khan - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
long card. half the night it'll be empty the other half will be full of drunks. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a scuffle or two in the cheap seats.
:D I miss the big fights.
-
Re: Barrera v Khan - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
haha i went to Calzaghe v lacy there and flew to Manchester with a few dodgy mates who were just going round looking for it till 1am.
Left them too it to be honest.
Depends if Man Utd beat Liverpool really;D
Great fight venue though

Re: Barrera v Khan - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
I say I'm looking forward to this one, but I'm not sure what state I'll be in by the time it starts. Out at 1pm for Wales v Italy in an all-dayer, and hoping to find a pub in town that'll be showing it. As it's in swansea they should have somewhere filled with Enzo fans watching it.
Whatever happens, I promise to try and come on here pissed as a fart when I get home and make a few nonsensical posts made up entirely of consonants and apostrophes. ;)
-
Re: Barrera v Khan - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
I think there could well be some crowd trouble...
Your gonna have untold Liverpool fans in Manchester from 10am on the piss and some will definately have fight tickets.
Then you'll have the Welsh for Enzo who will be slaughtered from watching the Rugby and Nicky Cooks NAUGHTY West Ham fans coming up from East london too.
Then you got your Mancs and a load of Fergals from Bolton.
Stick a 4pm start into the mix and 20,000 pints being downed and you have the potential for World War 3 on your hands.
Gotta love us Brits for that;D
Some hype Vids

Re: Barrera v Khan - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
Hey, thought I'd put this link in here rather than create another bloody thread about the fight.
Apparently Roach has said this fight is all or nothing for Khan, that he has to win this or his careers over. All in the link

Re: Barrera v Khan - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
Hey JazMerkin good post my friend , i think that Roach try to give a hardly motivation to Khan with that comments , obviously if he win , he would grow up more as boxer , but Roach know that defeat Barreras will not be nothing easier , that is why i think he makes that comments ..............;D

Re: Barrera v Khan - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
Anyone see the press conference..?
Khan looks and sounds very confident and positive and doesn't seem to be at all phased by Barrera.
Barrera just looked Ice Cold and ready for a fight.
Don King tried to put the frighteners on Khan by stating that he'll be Knocked out.
Looks in a good state of mind Khan and i've said all along he'll put in a brilliant performance and according to Roach they are gonna make MAB work at a fast pace from the off.
Can't help thinking Barrera will use body shots to slow him down around the 4th or 5th then batter him.

Re: Barrera v Khan - Presser - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
Heading down to this one from Glasgow with the mrs(both 19) and was looking for a bit of advice for my first fight!
What time do most people show up?
If i show up when the undercard kicks off il get some seriously bad times of the other half after 5 and half more hours.
Is being in the cheapo seats likely to lead to any problems in terms of having the mrs there and being a Barrera/ Enzo fan?
Cheers

i think you'll be ok mate... there will prob be alot of Barrera fans there ;)
most don't turn up till the main event but to keep the wife happy through the undercard just sit in any seat early on you wont get moved till prob the main event... just don't get caught jumping the barriers :-X

Re: Barrera v Khan - Presser - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
I'm getting well excited about this fight. It's one of those match ups that has you wondering. Khan is so much bigger than Barrera and if he has any sense will be jabbing and moving and staying out of range. And Barrera hasn't actually got the nod over a decent fighter in quite a while now. I thought he looked really decent against Marquez, but couldn't find the trigger agianst Manny. These last two comeback fights don't really tell us anything about Barrera.
I'm a long time Barrera fan, so really hope he can put all the doubters in their place. Still going with a Barrera KO win, but there is a little bit of hesitation in me now.

In terms of the time differences....I think East Coast is 5 hours behind the UK and West Coast is 8 hours behind.

It's the thought of the eight million quid he had to pay out to him. Actually it's the thought of what he'd have invested the eight million in if the judge hadn't frozen his assets till he paid King. He would have invested in Mamma Mia the stageshow/film etc. which has made billions. It must still keep him awake at night. :)

Re: Barrera v Khan - Presser - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
So after seeing the weigh in earlier does anyone give Amir any chance at all?
There's a fair few who think he can win this (50-50 at the bookies) given his speed, size and youth advantages and i agree to a certain extent and have said all along that i think he'll put on a decent show and really go for this but i just can't see him staying out of Barreras range for 3 mins of every round.
Basically it's shit or bust time for Khan and he knows it, he is capable of winning this imo but he's gotta fight so cute and be so focussed for every single second or every round to do so and move up hugely in class almost during the fight really.
Massive ask but i think he'll definately give MAB plenty to think about before he simply gets schooled and stopped around 7 rounds.

After seeing the weigh in I'm convinced Barrera will beat the shit out of him. Khan has been caught and hurt by a lot less than what Barrera can dish out. I agree that Khan might look decent for a few rounds, but Barrera never starts quick and once he warms up, he'll slaughter Khan like a goat. Your stoppage call sounds good, may well be.

Re: Barrera v Khan - Presser - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
He looks like one with that stupid long neck of his and that stupidly small head. Barrera's head is almost twice as big. ;D
-
Re: Barrera v Khan - Presser - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
He must be a Caprikhan ;D

Re: Barrera v Khan - Presser - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
What's amazing here is that MAB once beat The Prince who may now be ready for possible induction into the IBHF, and now fights the young guy many have compared to the Prince.

I find Khan to be totally different to Naseem though in terms of styles. In some ways, and in consideration of Barrera being so much older, it is probably a harder fight to judge. Khan is such a novice compared with Barrera or even with what Hamed was when he faced Barrera himself, it's those intangibles that make this a weird and wonderful fight.
Bring it Marco!! :D

Re: Barrera v Khan - WEIGH IN VID - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
Have you seen the size difference between Barrera and Khans heads?
Khan has a tiny little head, could be why he doesnt hold a shot too well

Re: Barrera v Khan - WEIGH IN VID - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
looking forward to this one so much
Miles you are right about the long neck, never noticed before - he reminds me of Gideon
Marco looks up for it - if so I expect to be served by Khan in a local Mcdonalds within 10-12 months.

Re: Barrera v Khan - WEIGH IN VID - Plus Undercard - STICKY!
Awesome boxing event for $24. I'm buying it! I see Marco using his superb boxing skills, while Khan blazing with both guns.
May the best man win with no controversy.
