Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
Tyson Fury, once again, is fighting this weekend on ITV4, on the undercard of Elcock V Macklin.
He'll be facing Lee Swaby, who is a better opponent than any of his first 3 fighters, although Swaby has actually lost just as many as hes won, which is 20 odd I think.
Plus he has the recognition as the only guy besides David Haye to beat Enzo Macarinelli when he was starting out, by a KO.
That fact aside, I see Mr. Fury beating him soundly, but hope that we'll see more of Fury's skills, and not just have another "I'll walk at you and pummel you with my uppercut while you stand and watch" kinda fight.
But we'll see eh ;) , any thoughts on the fight?

I like the confidence Fury's team have in their man they are putting him in with decent opposition right from the start. Swaby is no mug and knows how to handle himself, although as a former cruiserweight it will obviously be a size mismatch.
Fury should win handsomely but I think it's a decent third fight for him and he's moving along quickly. I could see him in with someone on the level of Chris Burton, Sam Sexton within a few months so he's doing alright.

Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
I couldn't stand this guy from the second he said he was the best HW in the world, and I also haven't liked the stoppages in his fights, particularly the 2nd against the German Zeller, I thought that was one of the most bullshit stoppages I've seen in a while. I wanna see him in with David Price or Derek Chisora in a few fights

I think that the stoppages in the fight against Zeller was fairly reasonable. Zeller was covering up and not firing back, and at this level of fights, the refs are acutely aware of why these guys are there, for the paycheque rather than to fight to the bitter end, and they don't want it to turn into something that could get someone seriously hurt. There was no way back into it for Zeller, and he was in danger of taking a bit of a beating. Price of Chisora might be decent testing opponents towards the end of the year, let him get his feet under him in the pros, and put a few rounds behind him.
As for Swaby, he's a canny operator, and as previously mentioned has the big scalp of Enzo Maccarinelli, and I like the progress in Fury's opponents early on. He's got potential, despite the hype and the anti-hype.

Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
For me Fury is a hype job , he doesn't possess any kind of power to take him to the very top , were he seems to think he is going.

You say that about all British prospects thought Dark Al. I remember you saying Kell Brook lacks the power for the highest level as well and he's been destroying guys ever since.
Just the fact that Fury can throw 100 punches a round makes him the fastest and most active heavyweight of the past 10 years or so. :)

Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
Good to see a fighter as such being busy.Swaby will be there to fight but he'll run out of steam in 4-5 rounds. He's always been game Swaby and he can bang a bit,but he telegraphs his big shots so Fury will see those punch 30minutes before it get anywhere near his chin. Why dont their find another boxer who is the same hight as Fury,,remember Long?He was about 6'9" or soo,is he still fighting? That would be a good test for Tyson Fury!

Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
I'm a bit biased for Tyson as we're both from Manchester, but I'm pleasantly excited by him. His hand speed for a heavy is phenomenal, and I think its nonsense to say he has no power after only three fights against guys who get blown over in the wind. He's being kept busy, which I also like to see in young pro's and hopefully by the end of the year he should be fighting guys who will give him a good test, such as Price. and wiht the bad blood between Price and Fury that should be a hell of a fight and one I'm looking forward to! I'm just so glad that we have some decent young heavies coming through now instead of the big fat 40 year olds that we are seeing now.

I said Kell Brook lacks power to go to the very top , ie world honours , i dont recall him fighting in that class yet Bilbo.

Gotta disagree with you rhun, Zeller was firing back a bit, & actually dropped his gloves because Fury kept hitting him very low, he was complaining to the ref & then the ref stopped it. To me it didn't look like Fury was gonna stop him. Coupled to that, one of my friends was ringside, & told me that Hennessy was screamin at the ref to stop the fight. If it was Germany we'd be suspicious ;)
-
Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
He's active and doing his best to garner interest with his talk. I think he truly believes he's that good and willing to back that up by calling out more experienced guys. IMO he's not good enough to make it to the top but there eill be good fights out there on the British scene.

For the 30 seconds before the ref stepped in, I didn't see more than two or three come back, and nothing that was going to trouble Fury, and Zeller's head was being moved around a fair bit by Fury's shots.
As for dropping his hands, in a six rounder at this level, you can't let the other guy hit you and not throw back or the ref will step in. Zeller had caught Fury on the chin earlier in the fight, and Fury hadn't flinched, so I don't think there was any other result there apart from a Fury win.
With Hennessy then, I'm not sure if he just thought it should be over, but there was no evidence at all in that fight that he should be worried about his boy getting defeated.

Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
Another quite impressive performance from Fury, took some shots from Swaby and walked straight through them. He's getting in better shape with every fight and looking better in each fight as well. Like Rawlins said during the fight, he will have learnt more from that fight than his previous three fights. Hopefully see him out again in about a month or so.
-
Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
Good performance by Fury but saw plenty of mistakes there for my man Larry to take advantage of. (He's on the Maloney bill this Friday if anyones watching)
He has improved and Swaby was definitely game. Most impressive thing about Fury is his hand speed for a heavy. You rarely see heavyweights throwing punches in bunches like he does.
I just don't think he's physically strong enough yet to be an elite heavy. That may change as he ages.
Oh yeah..and he has a big mouth for having not achieved much :D

i agree mate, fury is all mouth and at the moment and he believes he is the best british heavyweight around, well if thats the case let him fight our top boys even Williams or sprott would be good for his press, i think he should fight Harrison lol, the problem with him is he's a gypsie wannabe his family are a traveller breed but he's not really a gypsie he talks shit lol, not saying i have a problem with travellers my family are from a long list of romanie's (real gypsie lie Bartley Gorman) but he needs to stop talking bull and get on with some real oponents that will use his abilities to try and catch a win, also i think his dream of world title are far out of reach, put him in a ring with world rank fighters like Povetkin, klitchsko or even the Tua man and he'll fold, even fighters like Sanders or even Barrett would push him too, i think he could win a european title cause the EU champ is a joker!http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...ons/icon11.gif

Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
He's what, 19? And you're saying that he would get sparked by world class fighters? No shit Sherlock! lol He's still growing physically, so of course he's not got the power that the Klits have. I would love to see him and Price get it on, with all the shit that has been said by the two it woulkd be a firecracker of a fight! Not that it'll ever happen if Hennesey has his way.

If Hennessy is looking to keep moving him up in class, and assuming he continues to prove himself over the next three months or so, I'd like to see him make a match with Francesco Pianeta, the European Union title holder who I think would be a smart bit of matchmaking, although he's not ventured from Germany too often.
I think Pianeta is dependent on power, and is very open to being outworked over the rounds, though Fury would need a few 8 or 10 rounders I think to get the stamina right. Pianeta was lucky to scrape it against Sosnowski, and I think Fury would outwork him early on, and we'd see how good his chin is later on.
Otherwise, I'm sure there'll be an Inter-Continental title or Youth title or something of that nature out there for him.
-
Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
I actually thought that Pianeta lost that fight, I think he was saved by Sosnowski running out of steam in the last three or so rounds.
He's up against Matthew Ellis on Saturday, the guy that Maccarenelli sparked in not much time. Should be a good gauge of where he's at in his development.
-
Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
I like the fact he is fighting every month, that will do him no harm.
Clearly he has an awful lot to learn, as amateur boxing is more than ever further away from pro game.
He could do with either losing 20lbs, or toning up, hopefully Ellis has got enough in him to give Fury another four rounds or so.
It is far too early to make a judgement on him, other than to say, so far, so good and that he, if nothing else, punches harder than the old man ever did!

Well Tyson knocked ellis out in 50 seconds

Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
Yeah, I've just seen it after taping it. What was Ellis doing? He just walked straight into his jabs, if he was hoping that Tyson couldn't fight off his back foot, how wrong can you be?!?!
Couldn't really learn anything off that fight, except he seems to be getting quicker as he gets in better shape but could still do with toning up and maybe losing another half a stone or so. And there can't really be any doubt that he does pack a punch. And thankfully his shorts stayed up this time! lol
-
Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
Matthew Ellis was always going to lose ,but come on , he didnt even throw a single punch in the fight !!
Ellis is a disgrace ,
im still not sold on Fury , but i like the fact he fights every month.
-
Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
What was Ellis strategy in that fight?
Tyson is getting better each fight and could be pushed faster otherwise he will get bored. Needs to be in a tougher contest.
-
Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
I think Ellis must have been trying to break Tyson's hands by head-butting them.
-
Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
Nothing much to add except what you guys have already said. He's improving in opposition and needs to keep doing that. Ellis was clueless in terms of tactics. The only thing I can think of was that he saw the quickest way to his paycheck was through Fury's fists, and made a beeline for them. When he looks back I don't think he'll be too happy with that performance.
As for Fury, nothing much learnt off that fight, except that he's still looking fairly fast, and he's still a big lump. He'll be on the undercard of Froch v Taylor against some American opposition, so hopefully we can learn more then as he's pitted against someone more durable.

I would hope Fury went for a training camp pre Ellis, and still had to go though all the build up preparing for the fight, etc. So even though it went less than a minute, Fury is still learning, even from fights like this.
Remember Lennox Lewis fought Noel Quarless (in his seventh bout) a white British Heavyweight, with seemingly some potential a few years prior (to fighting Lewis), and Lewis blew him away. Nine months later Lenny the Lion was European Champ.
Now I am not saying Fury is the next Lewis, but if it turns out he is half as good, he is going to be world class in the current market.
I agree with the weight issue though, I think Fury could do with losing 20lbs myself.
-
Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
Tyson looked fast. His speedy combinations are definitely his best feature.
He seems to be able to operate well even with a fairly soft stomach so I don't think losing weight would be the answer for him right now.
He'd risk losing power if he did that and he doesn't need to be losing any power. It's a catch 22 really...he kind of has skinny/fat man syndrome. Not much muscle mass and a soft mid section. There's no doubt he wouldn't even be in the heavyweight division if it wasn't for his height.
If he tried to take care of one of his physique limitations, he'd sacrifice a part of his game that he needs. He loses fat/weight he may lose power and strength. If he increases muscle mass, you're normally gonna bring a bit of fat along for the ride which would be detrimental to his speed.
I'm interested in seeing how his physique develops and matures, if at all, over his career.

Re: Tyson Fury fighting again this weekend!
Get him in with David Price and he'ld get knocked spark out!

Dunno about that...but Price definitely has more power in his shots and a more matured physique so he'd be stronger if he could use that to his advantage. It's just the chin of Price that has a question mark on it...However, for me, that same question mark hangs over Fury too (regardless of how many times ITV wanna shove down our throats the fact that he's never been down)
That would make for an interesting fight for sure

However fury is still garbage , even if Ross pulls one off each time he thinks of him.

Ross, stick to your guns! I think Fury still needs a bit of bletting, so in my mind, he can't be called garbage yet.

Just remember, Al thought Kel Brook didn't have the power to get to world honours. He's also said the same about Fury.;)
