...that one of the greates Mexican fighters, is completely shot and a shell of his former self. Was tough to watch, and honestly i hope Barrera hangs them up for good, very hard to watch. :-\

Wow.. so you're not going to give Khan any credit? just as I expected :p
i said that i wouldn't give either one of them credit way before the fight, Khan looked good, but he also is marked up, and that was against an old war torn Barrera, how the hell can you say that that was a game Barrera? he has looked horrible since his comeback, and tonight he was slow, his accuracy and time-ing was way off even before the cut, not saying Khan can't become something good, but he didn't prove that he is something special or the next big thing, i say let Khan fight one of the top lightweights than how and IF he wins i'll give him credit, until then, no
All Khan proved is.... bugger all.
He looked decent tonight granted, but a stoppage on cuts by a 35 year old doesn't say much realy, and I'm a brit. He'll have to take on a real top 10 fighter till I'm convinced. Personaly I think he's a bit average.
I'm one of Khans biggest critics but Barrera being shot aint Khans fault.
he fought a class fight and went for Barrera from the getgo.... no running and punch perfect.
Well done Khan i say great win IMO
i'm starting to belive 8)
Khan didn't do anythin
1.He hit his gloves most of the time and by most i mean almost the whole time.
2. His biggest hit was a headbutt that left Barrera fightin with one eye.
3. If you are a prospect with speed, agility, reach, height and age over your opponent who is cut and is fighting with one eye and is doing nothin but covering up how can you not KO him???
Khan gets no credit and probly doesn't have a chance at big opposition.
Like I've said in another thread sure Barrera is past his best (I wouldn't say shot.. he slipped some of Amirs punches and didn't let him dominate) but the fact that Amir let hardly any punches hit him and showed the composure that he did, he deserves SOME credit at least..
I mean... pac man beat a shot (arguably) DLH but he got all the credit in the world for it. I just don't understand you people some times..
How very sad that people will just not give credit where its due. He outboxed him from start to finish, and was outboxing him before the clash of heads which I think was Barrera's fault anyway.
Kudos to both fighters. But Khan deserves all the accolades. The accidental headbutt is always very unfornate especially in the big event like that. But still,.. Khan won that fight CONVINCINGLY. He was too fast, he fought the smart fight, he got tagged by a couple of flush left hooks in the chin, and he took it like nothing. And for that, we should not make any excuses for the great Barrera's defeat.
Impressive by Khan!
Barerra was cut by accident, it was an awful cut, Khan dominated every single round and fought a perfect fight up to the stoppage.
Khan proved that he and Freddie Roach came up with an excellent gameplan, executed it very well and removed Khan's insecurities and scars from being knocked out so viciously and from all the crap he's been taking from the public for years.
He came out agressively but defended so well, you can say Barerra is shot, you can say if it went the distance Khan wouldv'e been caught with a KO punch, but you can't take anything away from Khan. His weak chin isn't his fault, and he did well. Well done to Khan.
I don't think that Barrera is shot, but it all went against him tonight. Couldn't start any worse than getting a cut like that, and after that point he was off game. Khan didnt prove he was the better fighter to me. Yes, he was winning the rounds but when it's stopped like that...well, ultimately it proves nothing.
i predicted that mab would knock khan out. fuck the cut khan looked so much improved tonight and no 1 can deny that.i always thought khan could be world class i just thought his chin would not take him to that level. look maybe he is chinny, but a solid defence can always compensate 4 that. i like khan i think he can do big things with roach. all this hate , bollocks to it
it's not hate on my part, i thought he looked good, just he looked good against an old shot Barrera, i said before the fight was bad for Khan no matter what, he won, but like i said, Barrera looked bad, it was hard to see a guy who was known for being so accurate and so crafty, be all the opposite, yea Khan should be given credit for all of his improvement, just don't think they should blow him up to be the next big thing till he takes on a REAL PRIME lightweight, call me crazy but i'd actually like to see Khan up against Raheem
It proved Khan isnt total garbage which is what many thought after he was KO'd......
BUT it doesnt prove he will be a superstar/undisputed champ either (by a long shot).....
I will start believing when he can do the same thing to a Katsidis, Funeka, or one of the Diaz's.......
Maybe Prescott did get lucky.....I wasnt real impressed with Breidis in his last fight....
I think what this fight proved is that Khan has top class speed and skill. But we already knew that so it didn't provide us any new information whatsoever.
We needed/wanted to see him dragged into the trenches in the later rounds with a top veteran to see what he was made of. Or at least had more rounds to display his skills and superiority. Either way we needed to see more to draw anything much from it. It wasnt Khans fault it ended in that manner but those are the facts imo.
I think Khan would have beaten any lightweight with that 1st round car crash gash on a TD tonight.
Morales, your act is getting tired, as long as it isn't your favorite fighter they deserve no credit whatsoever? Just a year ago Barrera went a full fight with Pacquiao and Marquez, I am not saying he is the exact same fighter, but Khan deserves credit.
Well I thought Khan improved a lot with his defense and movement. He's always had speed and skill. He was winning all the rounds but to MAB's credit it would have been hard to see out of that eye and he would have tested Khan in the later rounds had the cut not been there. But all in all a good showing from Khan IMO>
Does it show Khan is somebody who will be the future p4p champ? Absolutely not, this fight played into his hands because Barrera isn't a brawler and there are very few fighters that would be able to out box Amir. However, brawlers are his bane, its impossible for a fighter to never get hit, and he isn't dynamic defensively, thus leads to he would give any purist one hell of a fight, but that doesn't mean shit if he is fighting some like Prescott unless he really chances his defensive abilities.
I feel similiar. I give Khan some credit and I was rooting for him cus in my mind he was kind of the underdog. Least on this board. So much talk of his glass chin.
I hadn't seen much of him side from little highlights and his KO loss.
That cut totally fucked up the whole fight. It is very unfortunate for both fighters, Barrera more so of course, that he suffered such a cut, and so early.
Khan's win has to be put in perspective, becus Barrera had blood pouring into his eye since bout halfway thru round one. That had to affect his ability to get in and counter. Khan's speed was going to be hard to overcome no matter what, especially with him darting in and out and boxing smartly, but it made it damn near impossible for Barrera to mount any kind of offense with a cut like that.
Honestly if Barrera were to win he was going to have to knock Khan out. He wasn't going to win rounds. And the only way to do that would have been to get inside and punch with Khan.
Khan's punches also looked to rock Barrera a little bit, or least move him, I'm sure he felt them more than he let on.
Reminds me of Oscar vs Chavez
I've just watched it again and there is no doubt in my mind that the cut ruined what should have been a very good fight. Barrera was looking like normal prior to it happening. His movement was good, slipping punches well, setting up his own punches. Once the cut was open it got messy.
That was not a shot Barrera by any means. Khan was gifted that opportunity and took it with both hands. I don't think he can beat even this version of Barrera actually. I would definitely like to see a rematch and for Barrera to give a proper account of himself.
Khan hasn't proven himself a better fighter than Barrera. Anyone with that kind of cut would have been bothered and had to stop. I'm not dissing Khan, but I am saying that his win does not satisfy me.
And look at round 4 where the doctor is looking at Barrera and the blood is flowing. The doctor is saying something to Barrera. Regardless, the fight should have been stopped right there. With or without Barrera's consent.
Khan is a lucky man to get a win like that. It doesn't take skill to break someones head open and tarnish a potentially very decent fight.
All Khan showed is that he has potential to be great. He could be a Pacquiao type struggle early on in his career, and then go on to become a great great fighter. Will it happen? May'be, but I do know this he did look good even though Barrera wasn't the same Barrera in the past, but Barrera did land a clean punch a few seconds after the fight was stopped and Khan was was rocked a little.
Very disappointed . http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...f_sadface1.gif
The media will be going in to overdrive about Khan from now until he meets someone in there prime.
Tell you what . If he's that good then surly he must meet Prescott for a rematch.
Dont get to excited , the first time any sort of puncher hits Khan on the chin , hes gone.
But 1 thing for sure he should be exciting to watch. well done to Khan.;D
All Khan proved is 4 things.
1. barrera isnt a natural lightweight (just like the pacman aint a natural lightwelter)
2. If somebody pours a pint of blood directly into your eye ball you cant see too good.
3. Khan is paying alot of attention to Roach in training and inbetween rounds and its helping ALOT
4. Khans speed and combinations are good enough to cause anybody problems ANYBODY.
Khan has always been good offensively. But even after this fight, winning against an aged legend.. he still remains untested. Truth. Nothing should change much on the doubts regarding his infamous chin. (if he actually has one) ;D
Barrera..oh man. Very unfortunate. I thought he has a lot left and it's enough to knock Khan out. Sad cuz time is not on his side. Could have been a huge step up on his resumer over Erik. But I guess them legends do have a lot in common. Remember the robbery against David Diaz? Fukk that. Now that is more than unfortunate. those judges were a disgrace.
Khan has improve. But his chin remains untested since the Prescott disaster.
Khan was good tonight but we need to see him in with some1 in the top 10.But seen as most of Warren's fighters got ko'ed last night he might wanna hand feed Khan a few more fights just to keep the money rolling in;D.
1 thing it proved Khan should not be in the same ring as JMM.
Khan fought the perfect fight and we cant say Barrera was shot because we never got chance to see what he has left .
People were throwing beer in the arena. It was a BS ending because If Barrera got headbutted he shouldnt be punished. Anyone can tell you that if you box with your eyes closed youre not going to be as good as you are with yoru eyes open . Barrera couldnt see so ofcourse it effected how he boxed. Khan did everything he should have doneapart from force a legit stoppage but I think the cut should have been stopped earlier for a NC
Anyone heard anything from Barrera ?
Khan now needs to avenge the Prescott defeat. No more boxing 35 year old bantamweights
In the arena last night for the first few hours you werent aloud to take drinks to your seat but there was loads of people drinking in there seats by the end of the night how come:confused:
All Khan proved is he's now more loved by his supporters, and more hated by his haters.
I thought Khan dominated Barerra even before the cut, though I've only seen it the once and I'd had a little bit to drink at the time. Khan looked really good against a much smaller, older fighter. Without the cut he'd have won on points if he hadn't been caught. But when he fights a proper top level lightweight he's going to outspeed and outpoint them but will inevitably get sparked at some point in the twelve rounds. If it wasn't for his mandible he could be a world beater. He's extended the big payday portion of his career for a few fights with that performance though. Maybe he can get through a couple of world title fights without somebody managing to land on his chin but I doubt it.
exactly how i feel, i'm not taking away that Khan did look improved, cause he did, his guard was a lot better than it usually is, and his combinations were nice, but you can't really rank him among the elite lightweights based on that performance, like i said i think the next logical fight would be against someone like Raheem, even though he's boring as hell, it would be a good test for Khan, seeing how Raheem does have skill, has fought top level opponants (Morales, Freitas, Juarez, Funeka, etc.) but he's not too big of a risk, doesn't have huge power and well Funeka did quite a number on him
