What's next for Barrera?
The title speaks for itself. Is he done, unlucky, needs to go back down: what? What should he do. Many might say retire but its too bad that he'd have to go out on a loss like he had to Khan. What do you guys think?

Re: What's next for Barrera?
Retire is all I can say, or otherwise do one last final fight in Mexico for all his fans against some no mark.

i'd go with retire, unless he really feels he can pull off at least one more "meaningful" win at 130, maybe against the likes of Baloyi, Guerrero, or maybe Barrios.

He barely got down to 135, I can see now way he gets to 130. If he could fight a faded name at 135 or even 140 then it might be worth it. He could always have a rematch with Naz although that would probably have to be at Cruiserweight to suit Naz' 'growth' ;)

Re: What's next for Barrera?
I say if he wants to fight on then why not one more fight with Erik Morales?

That trilogy was too good to see it soiled by watching the 2 of em slugging out with nothing left.

Re: What's next for Barrera?
Barrera won't go away thinking that he lost that fight. He was the victim of unfortunate circumstances and Khan took advantage of what happened. Simple as.
Barrera should go home and heal properly, and I think he should come back and have a couple of low key build up fights against guys who have better records than the two before Khan, and if he still feels he has something left take on someone in the top 10 and then maybe have a final shot at a belt. Then win or lose, just retire.
He doesn't need to fight so could just retire, but I don't think he is as shot as people make out, nor Khan as good as people are suggesting.

Now are you sure? :)

Re: What's next for Barrera?
From what i seen from Barrera in his last few fights it should be retirement.

No, I'm not sure by any means. Those are just general perceptions really.

I love Barrera, but Im thinking the train has left the station
-
Re: What's next for Barrera?
Barrera wont think he lost . He got heabutted right away and couldnt continue because of the cut . He wasnt beaten by Khan therefore we still havent seen what he has left cuz a guy whos blinded by blood isnt able to show what they can do.

Re: What's next for Barrera?
KHAN RE_MATCH. I believe after that 1st round Khan would of worn him down and beaten him within the distance. He wouldnt of gone down but the ref would of rescued him.
But theres thousands that disagree with that, Barrera himself claims Khan couldnt hurt him (i think hes lyin) so lets get that forhead sorted and get a re-match goin.

I wouldn't mind a rematch too. If Khan can beat him properly then I will be impressed, but that last "win" was a hollow one and Marco deserves a chance to give a proper account of himself.

Re: What's next for Barrera?
The Sun Lounger is all old Barrera needs these days, I wouldn't say he was shot, he talks well no slurring but after 70 odd fights the fires not burning so bright anymore and fighting two divisions above his best is just too much this late in his career.

Re: What's next for Barrera?
Hopefully no more fights. He is done.
The whole week he looked disinterested to me. The fact he brought half of Mexico with him made it all seem a bit holiday-ish. Maybe he underestimated Khan, but he clearly can't compete at the top anymore.
-
Re: What's next for Barrera?
I think you lot are being a tad harsh on marco here.
Nobody expected him to outgun the faster, younger khan early on but to slowly work his way into the fight as khan slowed between rounds and to think from 2 onwards he was only able to see out of the 1 eye he never really got the chance to make that happen.
Warren says he wants khan back in for June. If the cut isnt as bad as 1st feared and marco can make the weight for June i dont see why not.
Wont happen though - Barrera may now become completely gunshy of khan and Amirs team will be hesitant to refight a guy many feel he has already proven himself against

He didn't look fired up to me.
But maybe it's just because he's older and fatter. :-\

Re: What's next for Barrera?
If some kid headbutted me but I was still able to rock him b4 getting stopped on cuts Id go for a rematch knowing I could beat him .
Khan is the same guy who got beaten up by Prescott only difference is Khan didnt get chance to cut Breidis

Game your seriously layin it on kinda thick, first of all the headbutt was accidental, second of all Barrera in no fucking point and time stunned or rocked Khan, if anything Khan rocked Barrera on the ropes, i don't give Khan full credit cause honestly Barrera looked shot, not that Khan didn't look or perform well
-
Re: What's next for Barrera?
I would like to see a rematch, seeing MAB was so horribly cut.

was that a joke. Khan landed his best shots and they had no impact on Barrera. Twice Marco stunned Khan and this is a Marco who is small ,old and couldnt see.
Show Amir all the love you want but winning from a headbutt doesnt impress me 1 bit .

Re: What's next for Barrera?
Well he could stay in the sport a little while longer if he is matched carefully. There could be a possible fight with Joel Casamayor or come up and fight feather fisted Paulie Malinaggi or a rematch with Juan Marquez. Heck maybe a fight with Oscar De La hoya at catchweight. But I do not want to see him be a stepping stone for some up and comer who is faster or hits hard.
