Can you name some fighters who need to give retirement some serious thought?

Here are a few:

1) Cliff "Black Bull" Couser-26-20. Lost 10 of his last 11, 8 by stoppage

2) Marteze "Too Sweet" Logan is no longer sweet. he is at 26-35-2 and has lost 10 of his last 11. He even lost to Anthony Bowman, 7-27-2 coming in.

3) Etianne Whitaker 33-31-2. Started out well, but has now lost 20 of his last 22, 16 by stoppage

4) Omar Sheika, decent record but in too many wars and too inactive. Now appears used up. Get out while you can.

5) Yori Boy Campas-92-14. Seems determined to get 100 wins, but has lost 4 of last 5 and needs to assess whether it's worth the risk

6) Ben Tackie- 29-11-1. Never has been stopped but that might be his Achiles Heel. Has fought an incredubly high level of opposition and has lost 5 in a row.

7) Hicklet Lau- El Marielito is now at 20-18-2, has lost 15 of last 18

8) Juan Polo Perez-46-46-4 has lost 24 of last 25. Time to quit as a 500 hitter.

9) Otis Tisdale-25-22. At age 40, Time to leave

10) Marcus Rhode, 34-37. "The Big Tuna gets canned every time he steps up. Time to step out.

11) Donnie Penalton, has not won in his last 34 outings! Now at 13-166-6. This is not a good thing.

12) Cerrone Fox. Won his first 7 all by stoppage. Then lost his next 9 of 10, 7 by stoppage. On verge of becoming useful fodder.

Your list also raises the question of whether there should be tighter controls over certain boxers who obviously love the game but are just not that good at it.Surely when a boxer gets to the stage of losing 10+ fights in a row someone has to say enough is enough and the people who handle their licenses need to have a good long look at whether they are doing more harm by allowing them to continue.

On the more well known scene I would like to see Holyfield and RJJ bow out, it's a shame when you start to see their legacy tarnished , I know RJJ won last time out and Holyfield's last fight was contraversial but how many times can they go to the well for one last chance to go out a winner.

I honestly think that the only thing keeping Couser in the ring is his dead on resemblence to Tyson...down to the Towel and all black.I think hes milked it too death :shinner:.Good call on Polo Perez...thats just sad.

Id add Kevin Kelly.This guy would be an outstanding commentator or trainer type.Others might have a very hard time getting a word in edge wise though.

Oscar Larios....this guy should NOT be fighting.All heart,blood and guts...but I think hes gambling with health......Chris Byrd,Vivian Harris....I think both are showing big signs of being all shot to pieces.Buddy told me he read that Stevie Johnston was fighting again,God I hope not!!That last KO was absolutly scary,just savage

Stevie Johnston! God, I hope not. Bob Mirovic might be another.

Logan has over 60 fights and hes only 24 y/o! That amazes me, but hes ony been stopped a few times and hes fought good fighters. Hope he at least gets an ok payday before he retires.

Many of the UK guys with horrible records (over 100 losses) have few stoppage losses and they seem to serve a useful purpose. They are designated losers if you will, but are savvy enough to stay out of harm;'s way. I cakk these guys the New Centurions.

Peter “Desperate” Dunn is no longer desperate. He became a Centurion
of sorts when he lost his 100th fight on September 26, 2008.

He currently is at a useful 12-102 (KO 11) - 4; and has done some
serious barnstorming, albeit losing, across the UK. Paul Bonson has
reached 102 and sports an astounding record of 20-102-8; astounding
because he only has been stopped three times. He is also capable
of the occasional upset.

It appears these lads are in a three-way race with Tony Booth (105
losses) to see who can lose the most the quickest!

Nigel “The Centurion”Rafferty, 26-69-9, put a different spin on the
term, but fell far short in the loss column.

And let’s not forget centurion Seamus “West” Casey at 30 (KO 5)-
129 (KO 33)-5 in 164 outings

These blokes fight often and seldom are stopped. There are many others.

I don't think THEY need to retire.

I'm surprised nobody has said Holyfield yet.

I want Roy Jones to just give it up. It hurt watching him fight Sheika because Sheika was a shadow of what he was, and watching old Roy beating up on him like that just reminded me how much Roy has faded. To think the guy who first really got me hooked on boxing is such a pale imitation of what he once was, is just a real shame

I would say Evander Holyfeild he has been put of prime for like 11 years i mean that longer then most boxers careers last for god sake. Not to mention the man has hep B and also a hart condition to top it off. I am not sure how he still is aloud to fight with the medical condition he has. But to tell you the truth if he fights again i while watch because he is the first boxing memory i have and been favorite of mine for ever since i saw him fight but it is kinda getting out hand and i wish he call it a day.

Kevin Kelly is still active?

Has Tommy Hearns retired? I know he has not fought since 2006 but did he ever announce retirement? I know he said he retired in 2000.

Yeah he has, although someone mentioned he may comeback. He could certainly still probably outbox Valuev only to be robbed on the cards.

I'd like to add Marco Antonio Barrera into the mix. Nowhere left to go he should just call it a day & enjoy his retirement, I'm not letting the cut in the Khan fight disguise that he's done

When a fighter is in his late 30s, has had his best years behind him and trying to climb a mountain that just isnt reachable anymore its always very dangerous.

Wayne has his fingers in so many pies it`d be so unfortunate if he did end up taking 1-2 more hidings just for the sake of it rather than getting out now.


Vitali Klitschko coming back made sense on so many fronts because apart from his brother even at 37 odd nobody in the division could hurt him and money was there to be made.

But with guys like Wayne you genuinely fear your going to pick up a paper and find out that something within his brain has been detected that shouldnt be there and think if only...

As hard as it is to believe,yes.He had a fight months ago he should have got the nod in Imo but he got staggered bad in the process.His days of punching as fast as he can talk are long gone ;D
