Currently Manny Pacquiao at #7 just below Jon Stewart (The Daily Show host) and above singer Britney Spears...
Other notables on this list; Russian president Vladimir Putin at #13, US president Barack Obama at #14, actress Kate Winslet at #15, governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at #17...

There is no shot in hell that I would give the Pacerheads another reason to shamelessly gloat and add fuel to an already out of control epidemic..

I'm with you on this one.
But you know damn well that he, and his fellow nuthuggers, are each going to vote thousands of times to try and make him #1. :p

Re: Give BOXING a shot in the arm ...
I voted five times;D
Guess which way my slider went;)
-
Re: Give BOXING a shot in the arm ...
I don't know what is the most offensive thing about the poll. I think anything that at some point ranks T-Pain as a more influential person on the planet than Barack Obama deserves any rational person to walk over and piss on the face of the person who came up with it.

So there's no pride among us boxing fans in having a boxer as one of the most influential people in the world?? (according to Time magazine)
Time is a prestigious magazine, this poll might give the mainstream population a glimpse about boxing and boxers...

Manny Pacquiao slowly climbing to the top of the list and now at #6 overtaking The Daily Show host, Jon Stewart...
Let's vote for boxer Manny Pacquiao and give boxing some exposure to the mainstream population...

Pacquiao topping this poll of most influential persons in the world would generate massive interest about boxing and boxers... It will initiate curiosity in the masses minds how in the world a boxer can be so influential in one's life??

Boxer Manny Pacquiao slide back to #7 spot with Cisco CEO John Chambers replacing him at #6 ...

Re: Give BOXING a shot in the arm ...
As of today, boxer Manny Pacquiao slides further down to #8 spot... Maybe boxing fans are greatly outnumbered by the music fans, tech fans, politics fans, etc...
And Pacquiao's average rating is also going down...
Come'on boxing fans, let's show some force and vote for Pacquiao...

You maybe right... I'm not sure if Oscar Dela Hoya made it to this list?? (there were 100 people on this list)...
It might not be right for Pacquiao to be ahead of Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama on this list but can you accept too that Pacquiao is below moot, Rain or a Kagame on this list?? Tho I really doubt if boxing fans really have some voice in this type of poll designed for the mainstream population...

Fuck Pacquiao.
Seriously, am I supposed to know who moot and Rain are?
-
Re: Give BOXING a shot in the arm ...
Ok, so I gather from Wikipedia that Rain is some kind of Korean pop-star. Still not sure about moot though.
-
Re: Give BOXING a shot in the arm ...
How is this a legit list with Britney Spears on it? She could walk down sunset blvd. naked and not make the front page of the tabloids anymore.
And I still don't know who moot is.
Gotta say Obama has a little more influence on the world than PAC.
I don't believe for a second that people will start watching boxing or that boxing as a whole will benefit from having Pacquiao on the list.
It would just be another thing for the talking heads.

Time magazine is legit and prestigious tho I admit the way the poll is conducted raised some questions...
Think of this, Pacquiao topping this list and considered the most influential person in the whole world... It will create a huge buzz how in the world a boxer is so influential in one's life... People will then start taking a closer look on boxing and boxers...

Re: Give BOXING a shot in the arm ...
This is by far the most bullshit list in the world, when a Korean popstar who most of the planet has never heard of tops the list. Also Paul Kagame is the President of Rwanda, SB, and holds considerable influence over much of the region of Central Africa due to his military history, and is seen as a kind of mini-Mandela/Mugabe depending on your political viewpoint. So he probably is more influential than Pacquiao. But not more than Barack Obama. But that list is a joke anyway

Could be a joke list...;D Time magazine spent a great deal of time, effort and money in having this "Top 100 Influential People" joke list every year for so many years now...

Re: Give BOXING a shot in the arm ...
Moot ? wtf, I have no Idea who or what this person is.
Any list that has Britney Spears in it as influencial is bonkers - she can't even influence her own kids because of a court order.

You're a boxing fan, isn't it? Now tell me how do boxing or boxers influence your life? The time you spent in this forum already indicates that boxing/boxers is on top of your priorities...
Regarding the list, mind you there's many legit influential persons on that list... Obama, Putin just to name a few...

Boxers and boxing do not influence my life in any way shape or form. I love boxing, I also love hockey, but its nothing more than entertainment. I can think of very few boxers I would want influencing me.
I spend a lot of time on here because I have to spend a lot of time in front of a computer, not because I'm influenced by boxers or because boxing is one of my priorities (though I love watching boxing). That's an absurd argument.
What does any of what you posted have to do with that list being legitimate?

Isn't it you skip classes and spent huge amount of money just to watch boxing or see your favorite boxer?
I think boxing for you is not purely for entertainment only... I can fully understand why you support a "weak" boxer like Molitor because he's your countryman... Boxing encompasses patriotism and love for country...

You're completely wrong. I've never once skipped class or work to watch boxing, nor have I spent a dime on watching boxing aside from the regular cable/internet bill and the time I spent $10 to watch the PBF-ODH fight in a bar.
If boxing isn't purely entertainment for me, then what is it? I support Molitor, a former belt holder with one lost to a burgeoning p4p fighting because I like his attitude, the way he fights, and his story. That fact that he is Canadian has little to do with it. It's not inconsequential, but if you read my signature I think even you will be able to understand my feelings about patriotism and all that sort of nationalistic bullshit. I am not a patriot, nor would I say that I love my country (though I very much understand that I am lucky to live where I do), so I disagree with you there as well. Aside from George Chuvalo, I'm hard-pressed to think of another Canadian fight that I really like (though I would not say that I dislike any of them either).
I'm still waiting for an explanation as to why that list is legitimate.

You see, you're not even aware that some boxers' do have a character and attitude that can influence your own life... You like Molitor, his attitude, his fighting style and his story so there must be something in him that you like to emulate...

Goddamn Saddoboxer...
I can like the attitude and character of someone (yes, even an athlete) and not emulate them or have them influence me. It's a fairly simple concept. Liking/appreciating something does not equal emulation. An individual would have to be incredibly weak-minded for that to be the case.
How is the list legitimate?
