guess he didn't wanna prejudge Marg or the whole situation. I feel bad about this for many reasons. It's unfortunate now because there's a possibility that Cotto may have been still undefeated right now. As far as Marg goes, it bothers me because I didn't wanna believe it was true since I actually liked the guy for his grittyness and toughness. Not to mention he always came to fight in great shape. This changes everything though and he has to lay in the bed he made.

Good luck to Cotto coming back and getting back to the top.

I agree 100% with Cotto. I know it wont happen, because Marg brings in money and money is what makes the boxing world go around, not justice, but Marg should be banned for life.

That is one way to avoid losing a rematch.

Had it been against any other fighter, I would approve of the ban for life but since it is against Miguel Cotto, I want to see the phuking rematch and then Margarito can go piss off for all I care. This will get more interesting in the future and I hope we have a feud match like none other we have seen in the past and now that Freddie Roach is trying to cash in on the matter, it will get very ugly as Roach can be a flat out d1ck (which he is) lol Roach has no class but I guess I will give the shaky phuker a break for now but I can learn to hate Roach real quick as I have done so in the past. ;D

Well that COULD happen but Cotto was moving away a lot on account of Margarito's "power" and that sapped Miguel's energy and the power off of his punches....so if Margarito fights like he did vs Shane then we'd have the exact same result as Cotto was dealing out one hell of a boxing lesson before he got caught a couple times and his face swole up like he got beat with a baseball bat.

...i agree with cotto as well, i look at it like what if it was on of my kids in the ring with a guy willing to cheat in a sport where you already legally get to whip the shit out of the other guy and get fame and money for it. If someone for any reason hit my kid with plaster on thier hands, feet, nose, hell on the tip of his pinky my wife would probably be going through her purse looking for her pistol before i could even say to myself in my head " oh hell no open the trunk " Ok that may or not be an exaggeration but you get the point. With all the semi sneaky cheating moves that are somewhat allowed in the ring that increase a guy's risk of serious injury to come in with a weapon is bitch made and yes i he should be banned. I wouldn't take the chance with my fighter..this is a sport a game, get you advantage in the gym not with fancy new ways to sneak in weapons. Also as a side note this if and it's a big if .....was used in the williams fight makes him more attractive for big fights he took a lot of late shots from the guy and still well you know.....

I agree with him but I disagree with the his face being beaten up therefore he must have used the plaster argument. Margarito hit him more than he hs ever been hit in a fight so he looked more beaten up than usual. Im not saying he did or didnt use the illegal handwraps in the fight, im just saying his swollen, bloodied face doesnt prove undoubtedely that he did. In my opinion though, i would not be surprised if he did use them in that fight, maybe the Lujuan fight too. Margarito should be banned from boxing no question. Even if he didnt know, which i dont believe, hes still responsible for his trainers actions.

Shane is just way more durable than cotto, and that is one of the reasons he was able to dismantle marg the way he did, not just due to his strategy. I hate to belief that marg knew about the wraps but its hard for me to actually believe that he didn't so jeah he should get a life time ban.

Shane actually didn't neglect his defense.

Surprisingly, Shane Mosley seems to be the only fighter who doesn't place the blame on Margarito. He places the blame on his people around him but didn't feel Margarito should be the one punished

i aggree 100% with cotto..no matter how much money margarito brings in he's been found guilty of cheating with dangerous substances in his gloves which are designed to add damage to another human being who has spend months getting ready for a sporting event!!! thats dangerous enough within its legal rules............he should be banned for life, his status as a champion stripped, his record zero'd and name deleted from the sport...this should be the standard action to anyone found guilty of any such crime in a combat sport......people get seriously hurt...even killed within the sport when things are done within its rules, never mind useing hardened wraps of performance enhancers.....as a huge fan of his thats what i'd like to see happen

I actually thought that Mosley would win BEFORE I knew about the hand wraps but I thought it would be on points. I think the fact that Mosley so dominated and outclassed Margarito so comprehensively shows that Margarito hand wraps played a MASSIVE part in his career. When you look at the style and trajectory of Magarito punches, to me, he doesn't punch like or shape like he punches hard. He doesn't look like he puts everything into his punches, turns his whole body and shoulder. Yet he was destroying guys. It's not like where you watch the old Tyson or Julian Jackson or Thomas Hearns those fighters LOOK like they punch hard. I consider Margarito only couples of notches above Luis Resto

For someone who has the best chin in the business, he sure did a lot of holding in order to avoid getting hit at the right moments and lets not forget, Margarito did not have the plaster.

I totally agree that technically Margarito really doesn't look very good. He does have a great chin and a lot of stamina, but when it comes to throwing punches with mean intentions I struggle to see where the power is coming from. You point out how someone like Tyson throws punches and tries to get serious leverage on his shots by bending his knees and really letting his
body turn into the shot. Margarito, for me, has always looked sloppy when he throws. As much as I love Calzaghe, I think of Margarito as having a punch style more in that vein rather than a fighter who can really accumulate damage. And yet he did accumulate damage, I'm not saying he hardened the gloves in previous fights, but it does make you wonder to yourself.

Margarito should be banned for life, if some of you question the fact that having plaster in your handwraps can change a fight,it's like having a weapon!

His contract is up at the end of this year, and he has already made it clear that he will be looking elsewhere, because of the way that Arum was backing Margacheato.

come on, nobody can make a genuine case for Margarito winning that fight if it went the distance. I'm sorry to say, but up until the last two rounds he was being heavily outclassed by Cotto. If it is conclusive that he cheated leading up to the Mosley fight, it is pretty obvious that he must have done the same against Cotto. As such, take away Margarito's ability to stop Cotto and you have a 118 - 110 ffight to Cotto.

Cotto got his ass whupped by Tony Margarito and is just looking for excuses not to have to face him in the ring again. If Cotto has any balls at all he'll DEMAND a rematch with Margarito he'd be sure there were no loaded wraps this time. A perfect chance to get revenge wouldnt you say.

Cotto landed some hard shots but margarito kicked his ass from pillar to post. Look at cotto running in the first round after he almost buckled from the first body shot. Margarito shelllacked him.

Andre not to be rude to you but that is pretty out there considering he has been cleared form that fight not saying he did not do it. But if we look at the Cotto fight we got look at every fight including the Clotty and Willaims fight and if i recall they were not busted up really bad. All comes down to question which fights did he use and also he was cleared for it ever fight he has been cleared the only one he been caught is this one. And if Margarito did use the warps all this time i not sure how effective they were because not like he was knocking people out left and right which you think you do with the loaded wraps right.

Plaster would do damage early rounds then break down with sweat into powder. So if you had them on you would come in hot ,not just warm as usual and pacing yourself for a long fight; you would go for it all out early.

Well i guess one way you could settle it is have rematch. I mean he could rematch Cotto and or Clotty and see how he does but i while say this regardless of the wraps Margarito still has chin that could win it. Really is a same though because now it is just a big question mark which is also the fault of the commision for not checking the warps before hand. I mean if he has been doing this all the time and no one has caught it then someone needs to get a new job.
