Apparantly hostages too.
well at least it wasn't a nursing home.
I am JOKING! :)
Police sources confirm up to 12 dead. 2 asian men led out in plastic handcuffs.
Ive never had them on me,and Im not in law enforcement, but they do seem to be increasingly popular with law enforcement. I know most riot squads use them almost exclusively.
I would guess its because theyre less bulky then the traditional metal ones, and you can cuff multiple suspects quickly that way.
It appears the 2 men in plastic cuffs as well as others were escorted out as such as part of protocol. Understandable considering it is often difficult to discern the victims from the killers in the early stages.
14 dead, 4 wounded and in critical condition as of now. The killer being one of the dead.
37 people survived. Most if not all of the people were immigrants.
Plastic b/c you can carry several pair...I'm sure the cop has real cuffs as well
Isn't it better to just prohibit guns? The BBC was saying Mexico gets most of its guns from the US too.
Too many incidents like this are taking place all too frequently.
That is a skewed stat Miles...Most of the weapons used by the cartel are in fact manufactured in the US..then sold to the Mexican Govt for its military...then find their way to the Cartels...This of course is always left out.
NY State has some of the strictest gun laws in the country by the way. The guy would have been gunned down in Texas by law abiding citizens with concealed carry licenses
It's still a minefield though. I really don't approve of governments selling weaponry and arms to other governments. Israel takes the biscuit with that! Though of course, it is everywhere.
I still look at this country and see zero gun crime. There are no guns here. It makes sense.
If a country really feels so strongly about being able to own guns in the home then fair enough. These things will continue to happen on a regular basis. All I can do is to ensure that I don't live in the U.S. ;D
I'm betting someone lost a job and has a huge grudge. Can u imagine that.....wasn't this a citizenship processing event?
National crime rates compared
guns or not your crime rate isn't really better.
now I'm sure this pales in comparison to the US but I guess there are guns in the UK
28 gun crimes committed in UK every day - Telegraph
I'm English but don't live in the UK. The UK is going to the dogs too. No, wouldn't want to live there either! :p
The UK does sicken me because I actually really do love and have a fondness for the place. I'm not happy with the obvious social and cultural decline that's been going on for too long however. Makes me shudder.
There are reports of 150000 Mexican soldiers deserting in the last year and taking their weapons with them. The 90% number that gets thrown around is BS. 90% of the weapons the Mexican govt returned to the ATF were manufactured in the US. I mean if your a billion dollar cartel king who needs to arm your thugs are you really going to go through trying to squeeze maybe a dozen at a time through the US border or import from Chinese/Russian manufactures who are cheap and have less red tape. Hell with FARC in Colombia just to the south why go outside Latin America at all.
It should be stated that Texas has a higher death by firearm rate that both California and New York. There is actually a noticable trend of states with the loosest gun laws have more deaths by firearms.
StateMaster - Firearms Death Rate per 100,000 (most recent) by state
Washington DC is an obvious exception to my statement, but follow the list down. Arizona has very lax gun laws has three times the gun caused fatalities of New York.
It doesn't really qualify gun deaths. Suicides/Accidents/Self Defense/Homicide/ or all of the above
The Associated Press: In last month, mass shootings claim 53 lives
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS – 22 hours ago
A string of shootings in the U.S. in the last month alone has claimed the lives of 53 people:
_MARCH 10, SAMSON, Ala. — A gunman kills 10 people and commits suicide in a rampage that spanned two dozen miles across the southern Alabama countryside. Police say Michael McLendon had struggled to keep a job and left behind lists of employers and co-workers he believed had wronged him.
_MARCH 22, OAKLAND, Calif. — A man pulled over in a routine traffic stop fatally shoots two officers and then kills two more in a gunfight in which the suspect was also killed. Relatives say Lovelle Mixon, 26, had been frustrated about not finding work and feared returning to jail.
_MARCH 29, SANTA CLARA, Calif. — A man shoots and kills his two children and three other relatives, then kills himself at a family housewarming party in an upscale neighborhood. Investigators don't yet know the motive of Devan Kalathat, a 42-year-old engineer at Yahoo.
_MARCH 29, CARTHAGE, N.C. — A man opens fire in a nursing home and kills seven elderly residents and a nurse who cared for them. Investigators say Robert Stewart, 45, apparently had targeted an estranged wife, a nurse's assistant who escaped by hiding in a bathroom.
_APRIL 3, BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — A gunman bursts into an immigrant center and kills 13 people before killing himself. Police say Jiverly Wong, a 41-year-old Vietnamese immigrant, was apparently upset about losing his job and about people picking on him for his limited English.
_APRIL 4, PITTSBURGH — A gunman wearing a bulletproof vest opens fire on officers responding to a domestic disturbance call, killing three of them. Police say Richard Poplawski, 23, had been upset about losing his job and feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.
_APRIL 4, GRAHAM, Wash. — A man fatally shoots his five children in their mobile home and then takes his own life in his car miles away. Relatives identified the father as James Harrison. A motive was not yet known.
53 a month isnt bad.
I'm not saying we don't have a problem with gun violence, but stringent gun laws in the US would only impact gun ownership of law abiding citizens not criminals.
