Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
Hi folks, just two weeks to go until the Hitman vs Pacman fight at 140lbs.Question is if Hatton get beat for the first ever time in the 140lb division would he retire soon afterwards?I feel he might, even though he said he has another 2or3 fights left in him.:-\

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
If it will be the worst beating ever in his boxing career, I think he might retire...

Hows things Peter you ok mate?
I dont think he will, i think a loss sees a fight with Bradley in the uk as a final fight.

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
he won't go out with a defeat even if he gets a hammering
there will be a UK farewell fight as said - possibly Khan at Wembley I reckon if he manages to avoid a second loss and lands a title

Im fine, thanks for asking!Erm you have a good point about him fighting Bradley if he does end up getting beaten badly by Manny.I cant see Hatton winning a rematch with Pacman if he does get beaten, and Pacman wont wait about as he'll be going straight for Mayweather. My heart says Hatton, but my theory says Manny.Pacman's reflexes are too quick for Ricky for me!I hope im wrong though!!

I hope he does'nt really fight Khan mate.I'd rather Hatton fight Kel Brook if thats possible! That would be a better fight for me.

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??

I support a UK farewell fight and he can fight either Nate Campbell, JMM or Junior Witter (?) ...

Yes could make sense you reckon Franky would let Kahn fight Hatton?

If Hatton did fight Khan,i will be there to watch it Live for sure.Hopefully it'll be at Wembley!I think Hatton would fully ruin Khans career!Hatton will beat Khan for sure!

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
I think the money will be too great to turn down - and it has potential to be biggest domestic fight of all time.
He won't want to miss that opportunity

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
I don't think he is going to lose this, the Mayweather loss may turn out to be the best thing that could have happened to Hatton. He's started thinking again and seems to be in a very good place mentally. If he can't beat a fighter who belongs at 135 pounds, then he should retire. I'm just not seeing it though.
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
Hatton wont retire, because hes not going to lose ;)

Yah man, PAC - DLH was zero evidence of PAC's ability at a higher weight. Any top 50 welterweight could have beaten DLH that day, along with a few JWWs. Hatton is fighting a smaller guy here, so him and his fans shouldn't put too much stock in this fight. Maybe a should fight a real JWW ffs. If there are any that is.

It's become a circus, it really has. Pac hasn't really taken a proper punch above 130 pounds and here he is being paraded as someone who he is not. He beat a shell of an Oscar. A walking zombie! It took Mayweather at his very best to finally get Hatton out of there, and let's not forget Hatton losing his cool. And it's on those two fights that these outlandish expectations are being built. The odds are ridiculous, and the writers seem to have been caught up by it all. It reminds me somewhat of Calzaghe: Lacy in this regard.
It was only a year ago that Marquez outboxed Manny over twelve. Beating Diaz and an old Oscar do not suggest to me a fighter that has suddenly become unbeatable. Like Calzaghe all those years ago, I can see a lot of people being proved very wrong.

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
yep we're speculating about a fight that will only happen if Hatton loses
I don't think he will lose to Manny - Manny comes forward unlike PBF and ,unlike Oscar, Ricky will be in fantastic shape.
And i don't know that kmuch about Kotelnik either
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
Hatton is gonna lose alright. He will fire Floyd Sr and will reunite with Graham for a farewell fight in UK.

Keep on believing in Hatton Miles. Just don't put down Manny coz Pac-DLH was really something. I even doubted about Pac when he fought DLH but he proved many of us wrong. On May 3(Philippine date), my fearless prediction: Pac will be installed among the top ten in all time greats.

No chance he will ever be installed top ten greats. But you think a win over Hatton would put him as a top ten great?? lol

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
I hope he does not retire but if he gets a sound beating then it might shorten his career to 1 fight and out after Pac in the UK.
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
If Pac does to him what Ricky did to Kostya, then he just might retire.
Thing is, I think Hatton will spark Pac in a Shocker of Shockers.
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
pacman will ko hatton in the 6th and hatton wont retire or have farwell fight a expect him to have a few gd more fights he will only have lost 2 fight to 2 p4p kings
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
I reckon he wouldnt retire but i think its certainly a possibility. I remember how down he was after the Maywether loss. Very down, and hes saying hes close to retirement now as it is.
But if he was to lose the fight id love to see him goin out on would be against Witter. Hes mouthed off at Rickie for years and we all know why Hattons ignored him, 1 hed demolish Witter easy and 2 he had much bigger richer fish to fry.
Or the other would be to face who ever is ranked the very best in the division (barr Pacman) just to show some people hes not just living off the Tzu win and hasnt actually faced a decent Lightwelter since that night.

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
if hatton loses i'd like a farewell fight with oscar though at what weight they'd fight at would be an issue. i also wouldn't mind him fighting bradley.

Hatton said he never would fight Khan but Frank said he will see if he can get the fight next year, so i dunno if they will or not.

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
I dont think Hatton needs to retire if he loses. Hatton can make a good living fighting up and comers and moving 1 class up or down. Pac may not even stay at 140 and if that is the case Hatton can still reign. I dont have much confidence in the rest of the field at 140.
Hatton will not get blown out in this fight so even if he loses he will be plenty marketable......even a rematch.
Hatton has another couple years in him win or lose.
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
there is a very strong chance that hatton will retire or be near to it.
lets consider who has retired after or shortly after.
marco antonio barrera
erik morales (said no mas after only 3 rounds)
oscar de la hoya (said no mas after 8 rounds)
it all depends on just how bad a beating hatton takes.
if hatton comes in fighting with his chin in the air, manny will knock him out.
i can visualize hatton quiting on his stool if he is not knocked out before the 8th round

i cant see hatton quiting on his stool,ur gonna have to knock him out to stop him,i seriously dont see why hatton is getting over looked here tho. i think after a couple of rounds the pacman camp r gonna be a bit shocked with how good hatton is. i no strengh isnt everything but hatton is TOO strong for manny. i think this fight will shock a few people.

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
Hatton will win but if he does lose he will fight at least one more time in the UK. This farewell fight could be Amir, should he win his next alphabet title fight.

Stop talking crap, Hatton still has something left in the tank, probably more than Morales had in his first fight with Manny.
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
Ricky won't lose this fight so the question is redundant...Manny is overrated and cannot take the power Ricky will produce!!
This is'nt an over the hill deflated Oscar!
As for Khan..that could possibly take place if Ricky loses his next couple of fights and Amir does well in his and would generate a high PPV audience for the couple of rounds it lasts before the sponsors on the soles of his boots come into view;D

TOTALLY SHOT is your excuse.
isaw morales just sit there on his butt and say NO MAS he was not even hurt  he could have and should have continued but he PUNKED out in the worst fashion.
oscar was not shot before his fight with manny and far too many people laughed at this fight and far too many people even thought that manny was too small, too weak and then he went on to give odlh a shellacking of his life. He too (odlh) just sat there with this dumb look on his face just like morales did and wishing the fight would be stopped.
i see the same thing happening to hatton.
will your excuse be hatton was shot?
as far as barrera goes, he should have stayed retired and it was pacman who made it possilbe.
hatton is done and we shall wait to hear you and others claim hatton was shot after pacman takes his body, spirit and his soul back to the island and buries him their with the rest of his victims

What a load of pompous drivel. Keep thinking that Oscar wasn't shot and that Manny wasn't outboxed against Marquez 14 months ago. You people are living in clouds and supported by nothing but hot air.
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
Why would he retire? He is only 30 years old and a loss to the Pacman won't end his career, depending on how he loses then a rematch is certain by the end of the year. I can't see Pacman beating him easily so why would he consider retiring unless he was blasted out inside 3 rounds? That isn't going to happen. Rematches, Marquez and possible Cotto fights are all lucrative possibilities for the Fatman in the next 2 years. I see him going out sometime in 2011.

I dont think it would be in Hattons interest to be a gatekeeper for up and commers. After having the big paydays he's had there would be not reason and its unecessary to risk his health like that.
I also disagree that he can move up or down a weight class. He's stuck at 140: don't think he can make any less and he got ko'd by an average puncher at 147 in pBF (ok, world class skills) and was almost KO'd by another with Collazo (solid skill set, but won't crack the top 5). Hatton can't bully opponents at welterweight. In fact, he gets bullied by fighters who arent bullies there.
I do agree that he is plenty marketable if he loses...for one last farewell fight.
I also agree if he loses it will likely be a fairly contested fight..i dont see manny blowing him out. I think this one will go 12...Hatton isnt a one-punch KO artist and manny is a tough guy with good movement. Either way, the loser will at least win 3-5 rounds imo.
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
depends on how badly he's beaten. if it's a close fight a rematch could happen but if he's beaten to a pulp i think he'll consider one swan fight most probably in england. he has been thinking retirement for sometime now.
-
Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
I doubt he will be beaten but if he does then I think he has hinted at leaving the game sooner rather than later.Depends on how badly he would be beaten, what the follow up options were in terms of a rematch if it's close. If no rematch for a close defeat then I reckon one or two more pay days and he's off.
In terms of Hatton changing weights , I do wonder how much his lifestyle has to do with it. Granted it would IMO be a lot harder to go down a weight but if he gained quality weight to go up the way maybe he would look better at WW. As I don't know that guy I won't comment too much but I think he went to WW on thre strength of pies and beer :p

Good point
Id like to think that he`ll end his career in a packed out wembley stadium with a vintage hatton performance that allows as many people as possible to see him bow out of the game.
Regardless of what happens saturday week and beyond hatton has been great value for money and an excellent servant to the sport in victory and defeat.
And i for one will miss him!!

Re: Will Hatton Retire if he gets beaten??
I've read in one of the nationised papers today that if Hatton gets beaten and beaten badly come may 2 then he is strongly recommending retiring.I dont blame if he does,he's had a awesome career and i'd hate him to take to much damage inside the ring!
